Just a side note. Next time you see a 70 yr old person, it's a real possibility they jammed out to these guys live in concert. Grandma or Grandpa would have been in their very early 20's.
TY for appreciating past generations. Artistic genius and talent are ageless, timeless and priceless.
🎶My grandpa he's 95 and he keeps on dancin' he's still alive. My grandma she's 92 she loves to dance and sing some too. I don't know but I've been told if you keep on dancin' you'll never grow old. Come on darlin' put a pretty dress on, we're gonna go out tonight.
@@willdwyer6782 How beautiful, thanks for sharing that! I agree, dancing, listening to music is salve' for the soul. I also see what you did with the Saturday Night Fever references, excellent! I do like to play the game of how old they are and what year would have been their "heyday"! So that means your grandparents would have been in their early 20's during the BIRTH of Rock and Roll! How many amazing stories you must have heard! You are also so Blessed to still have them. I would love to sit at their feet and just say, Go! I would love to hear every single thing they could remember. OMG, and their parents and grandparents. My Dad is 82, he talks about his grandpa. I looked him up and he was born in 1863!!! You have a treasure in them in more ways than one! GOD BLESS them and you!
So funny you should say this. I was at my retina doctor today and I always tell my husband that the other patients in there always look like theyre from the nursing home. Same today with all but one of the other patients waiting sitting their in wheelchairs, one of them asleep. But Steely Dan was playing on the sound system and there was one of the old people sitting there tapping his feet in perfect rhythm to the drum part of the song. It was so cute.
@@kencurtis2403 Oh WOW! That is sweet and heartbreaking.
I'm 71 and I saw then at winter land san Francisco 1973. Still rocking out to them. Peace ✌️
This is my favorite Steve Miller Band song. My next two favorites are “Take the Money and Run” and “Jet Airliner”.
Hell yeah jet airliner
My favorite is Big old Jed had a light on.
Your Cash Ain't Nothin But Trash, for a good laugh.
Jet Airliner has to be the album version. They censored the single to make it radio friendly.
Living in the USA!
Steve Miller was on the radio constantly in the late 70’s. He ruled the airwaves.
In West Germany too!
THIS SONGS FROM 1976
Seen him live several times. My all time favorite Album is "Fly Like an Eagle" the whole album is awesome.
He has sooo many great songs "Jet Liner" "Take the money and Run", Fly like an Eagles", Wild Mountain Honey" and many more.
Don't forget Space Cowboy. 😉
Every time this band played in my state, I went to see them. Which means I have seen this band more than any other headline band. Why? Because they can reproduce their studio work better than just about any band I have seen. Seriously. The quality is nearly flawless.
In mid concert, Steve Miller will pull out a sitar and play it. Just an unforgettable experience. It sounds so....trippy. I LOVE this instrument. So did George Harrison and Donovan. You can't give a true 60s sounding psychedelic vibe without one. Steve Miller pulls off the "vibe" flawlessly and more in his lead up to (which includes a narrative history) than just within the tune "Wild Mountain Honey" itself. The Beatles used this wonderful instrument in "Norwegian Wood" and "Within You Without You" among other tunes. Donovan used it in "Hurdy Gurdy Man".
The harmonizing vocals in the tune "Swingtown", performed in concert, sent a chill down my spine. Every. Single. Time. So very, very good. Sounds every bit as good as the studio work and the bass line just GROOVES. This band was so great to see in concert.
Also "Mercury Blues" and "Rock 'N Me"
Love them songs too, but I also love Macho City. I got the 12in version and I love it 👍🏿
Wild Mountain Honey is another absolute fave 😍
That whole album is FANTASTIC.
You’re right about that. I forget the name of the one song but it talked about putting all of your worries up on the shelf. I’m going down to the seashore do you remember the name of that?
@@FUBAR1986 My Own Space 👍
So true! I bought it again a few years ago. Oh, the nostalgia!
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Swingtown" !!!
Oh yes please!!!
I was scrolling down looking for this one.
This is one of his best. Have a great day, guys!! It's most famous line "everything's better when wet."
Even more wetness in the second and third verses.
"The patterns of the rain and the truth they contain have written my life on your skin."
"You treat me like I was your ocean. You swim in my blood when it's warm."
Steve Miller Band was top of the charts for quite a while. Their radio presence in the 70's was on par with Eagles etc. By the way, your dog Meatloaf is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!
Oh Meatloaf is such a CUTIE! I LOVE him! ❤️ 🐶
This band makes me think of my father who passed in 2020 at 54 years of age. He owned this greatest hits album and blasted it all the time. The whole album has awesome songs on it
Sorry your dad so early. My passed at age 62. Still too young.
So sorry for your loss. 💔❤️🩹❤
Sorry for your loss- He had amazing taste in music!
Damn man I’m sorry. I’m 57. Your loss hit hard thinking I’ve not lived nearly enough
Thanks for everyone's kind words, hope life finds you well!
The Summer of '93 I was in the Air Force and doing a temporary duty assignment in Saudi Arabia. I was cleaning out a cabinet at work and found the Steve Miller Band Greatest Hits album on cassette tape. Someone from a previous rotation had left it there (I assume on accident). I wasn't familiar with all of those songs yet, but all it took was one listen for me to fall in love with them and to start playing that cassette constantly. I've been a big fan ever since. When I got back home I purchased the CD version and played it constantly too. Now, the songs are on my phone of course.
Steve Miller Band is always a good time
Steve Miller was huge in the 70s...the Joker, Fly like an Eagle and Book of Dreams are all phenomenal albums.
Remember having their ' Greatest Hits ' on 8-track . That one NEVER GETS OLD!
I think Steve Miller is a master with lyrics. He uses words & phrases that you wouldn't expect to be in a song, and weaves those words in masterfully. His complicated lyrics flow so smoothly. A unique talent.
Do you both understand how good you are? Most people will love songs but not many will mentally put an artist's catalogue together without being really familiar with the work. Loving what you both are doing
100% agree. I’ve come across a handful of reactors who I love to watch, and as my boy Jay says “these two are definitely in my top 5 and pretty close to number 1!”
“Winter Time” is a whole different vibe from SMB and one of my favs from them. Definitely an underrated band for sure.
When you reach the age when you can’t remember where you put your glasses, but you can sing along with Jungle Love!
and then you find them on your head
@@darylehayward5155 thinking the same 😂
In 20 years, Ill be in a home somewhere. I wont know where I am, but, Ill still know the lyrics to Jungle Love.
Or why you just walked into the kitchen
For me that's 54, lol !!!!
Went to see Steve Miller Band about 3 years ago in Florida. Still sounds as good in concert as in his recordings!!! Great pick.
So darn good in concert, their ethereal sound effects just took you to a different plane. Since it is January, you really should now listen to their softly beautiful song Winter Time.
If you've ever been to a Steve Miller concert, It's like turning on a favorite classic rock radio station and listening to it live for a couple hours. Topping it off, he's humble enough he comes out helps with the setup of his own stuff.
🔥Jungle love is my all time favorite Steve Miller song! And yet it seems to always get over looked. Great reaction! ❤
Every time I hear this song, even just the beginning laser sound, it transports me to such a specific memory of sitting in the parking lot in one of the local hangouta on the main drag of my hometown in the summer of 1977, passing a joint and vibing with friends while this cassette tape was "cranked up to 11".
Steve Miller Band was huge in the 70's and very popular, we had so many great bands, they were hard to keep up with. An abundance of awesome music, we were spoiled.
One of my favorite Steve Miller band songs
You want "Jungle Love?"
Look up The Time's "Jungle Love"
That Lit AF!
I thought the same thing. Lol.
Heard this song but never knew the title. And I thought they must've copied The Time
💖 Morris Day and the Time's "Jungle Love", also "The Bird" which was a popular song/dance at our high school dances but seems to have been overlooked since.
Living in the USA is one of their earliest hits but it is, in my opinion, about as close to a perfect song as you can get
... somebody gimme a CHEESEburger!!!
Steve Miller's parents were best friends with Les Paul and Mary Ford and were Best Man and Matron of Honor for Paul and Fords wedding. Les Paul became Steve's Godfather.
Other regular visitors to young Steve's household included T Bone Walker who taught 9 year old Steve to play guitar behind his back and with his teeth. At age 12 he taught his classmate Boz Scaggs to play guitar chords so Boz could be in Steve's band The Marksmen.
The bass lines in this song are so perfect.
I LOVE The Steve Miller Band!
Thanks for bringing him back. The vibe is always great.
🥰🥰🥰 Love Steve Miller Band.
Steve Miller Band is timeless. He’s probably still touring. I was lucky enough to see him live about ten years ago & he sounded great. Swingtown, Dance Dance Dance and Livin’ in the USA are some good ones you haven’t heard yet.
You really Really have to see the Band in Concert. I had the pleasure and Privilege to see them in Concert in New York City on New Years Eve
Most known Steve Miller song? Fly Like an Eagle is the first one I think of when this band comes up.
Ohhh, Take The Money And Run! Story telling, cool, Steve Miller Band song. You will LOVE it!
Nothing like seeing the Steve Miller Band in their hometown of Dallas Tx. Every year a local radio station sponsored a concert in the Dallas Alley that 5 out of 10yrs was Steve Miller Band. Great show and they always sounded great live.
Steve miller is from waukesha Wisconsin
Les paul is too. He trained him as a teenager.
@@danlaudonudiobooks5840 alright maybe he had a house in Dallas. All I know is all local radio stations said he was from Dallas and he always said it was great to be back home
Hes awesome! Great show
@@danlaudonudiobooks5840 He was born in Wisconsin and family moved to Dallas in 1950 when he was 7, so y'all are both right. Lol
"Fly Like An Eagle" was one of their earliest biggest hits. I love SMB, but I love the early SMB even more! Two of their earlier songs and two of my favorites are "Your Saving Grace" and for a real psychedelic vibe, "Wild Mountain Honey"! Check them out even if you don't put them on your reaction list! Great reaction y'all! Thank you! ✌💙✌
Your Saving Grace - ua-cam.com/video/47mPt3kJjvs/v-deo.html
Wild Mountain Honey - ua-cam.com/video/eh_0oaJcMgY/v-deo.html
You guys would LOVE his song Dance Dance Dance. Someone below mentioned Swingtown which is also excellent.
Babes in the Wood! ...and/or..... Swingtown...and/or.... Dance Dance Dance!
One of my favorite Steve Miller Band songs. Check out Take the Money and Run….🔥🔥🔥
They did it 🙂
@@ruthparker9756 I missed it. 👍
Love Steve Miller, saw him live. Gotta try "Dance dance dance" by him.
That's about the only hit they haven't done.
Steve Miller plays guitar and sings and writes. He plays a ton of instruments, but he did work in a band setting with other people.
You gotta take the plunge and get the entire "Fly Like An Eagle" album. It is a groove made up of many grooves. There's not a throw away song on the whole album. Even his cover of Sam Cooke's "You Send Me" is fantastic!
Seriously!
Get the entire album.
You will not be disappointed.
Oh the fun times riding around in my 1973 Mercury Cougar XR7 with about 4 or 5 of my friends listening to this song and turning it up super loud!
SMB puts on an awesome show in concert.. I’ve seen them 3 times in concert young and old and they did not disappoint!!
Johnny Ray! I'm amazed that hardly anyone has reacted to Johnny. Johnny was a hugely popular singer just before the arrival of rock'n'roll in the mid-50s. Nowadays, he is often referred to as a precursor of rock'n'roll indeed, all the early rock'n'rollers _ Elvis for example - held him in great esteem. In the days when the vast majority of popular white singers - and a lot of black artists ( Nat King Cole and Johnny Mathis for example ) - sang in a smooth dance band style, Johnny sang in a highly emotional black inspired voice. When his studio recording version of "Cry" came out in the early 50s, a lot of people - particularly in the UK - had never heard anything like it. Check him out because he was a very important artist.
I saw them live, outdoor concert in the pouring rain, when they sang
“Jungle love in the surf in the pouring rain
Everything’s better when wet”
That place just exploded, awesome band, as you said, just fun.
You should check out some Jimmy Buffet by the way.
I saw Steve Miller in the pouring rain at Wolf Trap amphitheater in VA. Don't remember what he was singing, just trying to not get washed downhill. Fun times!
The Steve Miller Band was the first 8 track I owned when I was young
Eagles I can't tell you why. One of the all time best Eagles love songs.
That’s my favorite Eagles song as well.
Got to see these guys at Park City, Utah, back in the 90's. Fantastic show, great sound and even more energy.
EVERY STEVE MILLER SONG IS A VIBE
Grew up on Steve Miller - one of my favorites of all time❤
Gary Mallaber just absolutely KILLS the drums on these two albums. A really slow and quiet song of his that I absolutely adore is "Make the World Turn Around." Same message as "Fly Like an Eagle" but really different vibe. Also fabulous music video filmed here in Tacoma.
I think you'd love Steve Miller Band's "Living in the U.S.A" and as an added incentive, it opens with a harmonica solo.
You gotta do "Wild Mountain Honey" ..that's a vibe! "Mercury Blues" and "The Stake" these are deeper cuts that are really good!
Abracadabra! An excellent song by Steve Miller!
For years I heard this song in bars or at parties but never knew the name. I always thought they were saying 'Chug-a-lug'
I can see that 😂
That's probably all I'll hear next time i listen to the song! Lol
Lol, ya'all!
I always heard tra la la
Steve Miller Band was my first concert, my Mom took me when I was about 9 years old. Absolutely love their music
WILD MOUNTAIN HONEY BY S.M.BAND☮️🌍
Love you Amber🫣🤭❤️Your Man is InLove with you 🥰 I see it in his eyes🫶🏻
Love you Folks ♥️
"I Want To Make The World Turn Around" from his, Living In The 20th Century (1985ish), album is one of SM's best "obscure" gems. That song has a haunting sax solo that will give you goosebumps... and we all know how much Amber loves the saxophone, right? Give it a listen next time you're in the mood for some SMB.
My favorite travel band. Love them. The best. Thank you! Was a teen when I first heard them. Saw them in concert. I just turned 61 and still one of my favorite bands. You two just made my day.
I'm not sure if you've reacted to them or not yet but 3 of their most iconic songs from earlier on, are Jet Airliner, Keep On a Rocking Me Baby, and Take the Money and Run. To the extent you haven't heard them yet, these three really kind of put them on the map in a big way really quickly. And they are fantastic songs.
Swingtown....what a jam
Great song. My favorite is "Wild Mountain Honey"🎼🎵🎶🎶🎵🎼😎😎
I so agree! One of the greatest bands of all time!
This might be my favorite SMB jam.....and Abracadabra might be his most popular because it was done later, after MTV came out, so, more people were hearing it....and the groove was a little more with those times.....but "Fly Like An Eagle" might be considered his/their signature song.
I love dance, dance, dance by Steve miller
My FAVORITE Steve Miller song!
The 2 big Steve Miller Band albums are Fly Like an Eagle and Book of Dreams, everybody owned those albums! Dance Dance Dance would be a fun song to react to by the Steve Miller Band.
You can never go wrong with the Steve Miller Band.
Such an under appreciated band. Amazing songs! Got the pleasure to see them live when they opened for the Grateful Dead one year.
This is my favorite song by Steve Miller. Love playing this on guitar. Glen Douglass is a great guitarist.
Jet airliner is my favorite by Steve Miller Band, they had quite a few big hits. LOL MORE COWBELL!!!!!
Steve Miller Band in the 70's were GOLD!
This entire album rocks! I love your reactions!
Steve Miller band great to see live
Hey Goddess!! Just wanted to say your hair is sooooo beautiful ❤❤❤ . God bless you both!!!❤
"Heart Like A Wheel" from 1981 is a song that is not played much but is one of their best songs.
There's another song by a band that was put together by Prince called The Time, and one of their hits is called "Jungle Love" that's totally different. 80's dance groove for sure. Jordan and Amber would love it.
Other classic Steve Miller tunes: "Fly Like an Eagle", "Jet Airliner", "Take the Money and Run", or "Rock 'n Me".
Just an FYI, Lisa Marie Presley Elvis'sonly child has passed away at age 54.
I clicked like before i even watched the video. Once i saw it was Jungle Love (my favorite Steve Miller band song) one of my favorite all time songs I had to watch. Glad y'all understand how good this band is and know that this was probably one of the most under appreciated bands back in the day.
My Steve Miller Story. The venue was the Carowinds Palladium. Called the production manager and asked if he needed anything, one show I did not work that summer. Was told if I brought a couple quarts of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey Ice Cream to the back gate, I could see the show. Ended up eating the ice cram with Steve and the band, got 2nd row center seats and had one heck of a night!! Got so drunk I do not remember making it home!!
Les Paul was a family friend and taught him when he was young.
Love Steve Miller Band since I was 16,I'm 61now.Another fun Jungle song to listen to is ELO, Jungle. Off outvof the blue.
Steve Miller=hit maker
You got to love The Steve Miller Band, remember sitting in Poppies Bar in Bali in the 70's and The Steve Miller Band was constantly playing. So every time I hear Steve Miller I always think of Bali.
I'm 72 and saw the SMB in concert two times in the early 70's. Love his early music.
ᴛᴇxᴛ me ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀm 🎁🎁
You won a prize🎉🎉
Had an army buddy who would play this at the bar. He had us all singing "chug a lug" and slamming/chugging beers every chorus.
Ahhh, the days of our misspent youth.
Jay and Amber, don't know if you heard, Lisa Marie Presley (Elvis's daughter) died tonight! Only 54 years old. I'm shocked. Never would have expected this!
My fave Steve Miller song for sure
Wife here.., Absolutely great in concert..Late 90's!!!
Love love the Steve Miller band
Love your reactions. You guys knowwhat I like. I was born in 62 and we had the best damn music of all time when I was a teen.
Steve Miller is also a very respected guitar player among the rock community. Great composer, one of the best American artists in my opinion. There are so many styles that he combines in his music. Rock, prog, electronic, country, southern, he is a genius. Fan fact... His biggest hit in Greece that I am writing you from, isn't the Joker or Abracadabra ( these are also hits here) but one of his songs called Serenade. Serenade is not a favourite of reaction channels but I d like to see a reaction from your channel because guys I enjoy your reactions so much and I also love this song so much. Thank you for your work I am really stand by to see what three songs you are picking every day!
My boy wearing his bengals gear and rockin out to a song about the jungle! Priceless..
Steve Miller greatest hits 74-78 is a great LP.
SMB always delivers a good vibe with each song!! This is one of my favorites and glad you liked it - their song "Serenade" is a personal favorite - has that mysterious undertone that you guys tend to enjoy - the song and the way he sings it gives me chills up and down my spine!! Thank you for always providing me such a fun time sharing in your love of music across all genres and bringing me some joy each and every day!! Keep smiling!!
Thank you! This is my fav Stave Miller band jam!
Steve Miller is Les Paul's godson. When he was a child he got to tour the guitar factory. He was told he could pick out any guitar he liked.
My favorite Seve Miller song! Freshman Year of college!!!
