Steve Miller Band played at a lot of parties at the frat houses in the early 90’s at my college. A lot of fun times…

FUN FACT: Guitar virtuoso Les Paul was regular visitor and friend at the Miller house. Les Paul became Steve Miller's godfather. Paul heard Steve, who was six, banging away" on a guitar. Les Paul gave him guitar lessons and encouraged Miller to continue with his interest in the guitar... and "perhaps he will be something one day." The rest is history. @@mattslupek7988 no my car only had an AM radio, but a friend of mine later installed an FM below it. In those days they were always on top 40 radio. The most hilarious thing was I drove a bright red two-door Vega sedan with a black vinyl top.I always thought the Chevy Vega was one of the best looking cars ever made but at the same time one of the worst cars ever made! It had a bad rust problem! It had that sorry aluminum block engine! It was pretty but pathetic! I was on my way from northern Virginia to rodanthe North Carolina at the outer Banks when the engine blew in Williamsburg Virginia and caught on fire! It only had 50,000 miles on it! I used to call it my DeLorean sports car!! 😅🤣

Many big hits from the 1960’s into the late 1980’s. Fly Like an Eagle was their biggest hit though I love Jet Airliner, In the Winter Time, and others.

Love this tune and the Cars song you just did, but neither one of them was a real live (audio) video! Not your fault, just lettin' you know they were live performances with the studio audio dubbed over them. Anytime the audio fades out, it's not live.

I wonder if humanity will ever again reach the musical heights of the 70's? The last 30 years, with a few exceptions, has been a wasteland of boring formula dreck.
"Swingtown" next. It starts with a drum beat that they keep adding instruments to until they get into the song. Boy he sure did have the upper decks bouncing to the beat.
“The Joker” should be next. Steve Miller is musical marvel. Very talented.
Learned guitar from Les Paul, the original guitar genius. Paul invented the Gibson electric guitar.
If I remember right, Paul was his godfather.

I particularly like Steve Miller Band during the Fly Like an Eagle/Book of Dreams period. To my knowledge, no band uses more 'fade outs" to end their songs......not that it's a bad thing. Please review The Stake.
Listen to the original Jet Airliner by Paul Pena the writer. Miller's version is great but Pena's version has great guitars sad he was never given the fame he deserved
Oh yeah. I would love to see someone react to both versions back-to-back. Probably do the Paul version First since it's his song and it came out the bit earlier. Apparently one of the guys in Steve Miller Band, was it the keyboard player? Was an apprentice during the studio session when Paul recorded this song and he was so taken by it that later he has to Paul if Steve Miller Band could do it and Paul graciously said yes. He didn't even ask for royalties although I understand that they did give him money for it in the end. I don't even think he was particularly bitter about it at all, it's just that he never really got the public recognition that it would have been nice for him to have. I absolutely love that original version. It's So Funky and Soulful and different and it's got a lot more words in it that Steve Miller Band had the kind of chopped down to make it a shorter song. It's absolutely wonderful and it did turn out to be perfect for Steve Miller Band to put their own stamp on it as well.
He travels the states but can’t wait to get back to Northern California so he can be with his sweet baby yah.

That was the studio version with the group added.. This is becoming more and more popular on You Tube and very unfortunate. I see it all the time now, If there isnt any distortion or crowed and other noises than it is the studio version. Watch for this with ALL live performances on you tube.

I don't think that is live as that sounds identical to what they released. Maybe they were lip-singing? Not dissing them as it is such a good jam.
Ok the music is from studio not live but the video is live.ppl do this all the time.you can tell it's not synced perfectly.

I bought their Greatest Hits, double disc, at Walmart for like $9. I had a really nice sound system in my truck with on sub-woofer, one night after darts I took a friend home and ended up jamming out for about 2 hours on his driveway, just blasting the speakers away , singing and screaming away, having some beers and token till 2 in the morning on a weeknight. We only made it to the first 17 songs out of 27 songs, and I had to get home. My truck was stolen recently and lost that CD with all the other stuff missing, really pisses me off ! Best money spent and great memory.

Please, consider better quality songs, studio versions as opposed to live. Yes, sometimes live is better. Peter Frampton Come Alive, 1 of the best. But, sometimes the lack of quality doesn't do these songs justice. Thx 4 all you do. I appreciate your interest in that which came b4 you. SOLIDARITY!

More specifically, they were listening to Dr. Hook, Right Place, Wrong Time, absolutely horrible live version. When Steve Miller came on, I was like, NO FUK'N WAY!!! another 💩ty live version!!! But, Steve sounded great though. My reaction is bc I respect the hell outta these young ppls interest in things they may not know & want them to have the best experience possible. SOLIDARITY!

They had so many incredible songs. It's just music that is so easy to like, and dance to and sing along with. It's just a dictive that way. It was a bit before my time here in Lawrence Kansas but apparently about six years before I got here in the mid-70s, he would regularly pass through and play downtown in our South Park we're bands still played at this day. I wish I could have been there!
Abracadabra is one of his best. You need to check it out. Amazing guitarist.
