Well, that is an open hole for a future story. That engineering officer could manage to piece the last piece together. The rune was shattered not disintegrated.
Hi Nancy and thanks. Overall, it took about a year to film, though we shot all Giles' scenes and the exteriors over a single 3 day weekend. Post production took a few years, and was mainly held up by the need to replace a lot of the dialogue due to sound problems. Giles wasn't a stunt double for Mr Stewart, but does work as an impersonator.
I like this...….For you haters......don't dislike something you cant do better yourself. These folk spent time bringing something great. Hats off to you I am loving this.
Thank you, it's always nice to hear someone enjoys what we're doing. Alas, no comments from Sir Patrick yet yet. ;) As to the other comments, I suspect he or she was just trying to be funny, but the admin has deleted it anyway. Basic rule, if you wouldn't say it to someone's face, it's probably not a good idea to say it online. :)
I enjoyed this episode and I'll add my "Nice Picard" to everyone else's chorus. I especially liked the follow up on the T'Bruin (sp?) from "Transitions and Lamentations." And the reveal reminded me of the the type of story element from TNG's "The Chase" with a more narrow focus, which I liked! As a constructive critique, I think the Picard/Hunter dislike was resolved a little abruptly, even if the way it was done was very Picard-like and his reasoning was appropriate. It just seemed to come out of the blue. I know the ep is only 30 minutes but it would have been nice to see Picard struggle with that realization a bit before he spoke with Hunter about it. The filming and the look of the sets is better this episode. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Transitions and Lamentation is still my fave but keep going, Nick and crew! This is a wonderful corner of the Star Trek universe and it deserves more delving into!
i really enjoyed this version....thanks for sharing and doing it....love the guy who places Picard....awesome lookalike.....love the music as well as the story line....HIGH 5 to all on this one and especially to the one called Picard....yaaaahhhhh Patrick Stewart has a stand-in....my hats off to you...great acting....hard to play characters which have stood the test of time and seasons.....love it....thank you for doing this....thanks to all for doing a great segment...again HIGH 5....would love to see more of this
Thanks ilttpvvm! I have to agree, I think this is one area where we really did match up to the 'real deal'. Dylan Feeney simply knocked it out of the park on that theme. I love it!
i kinda recognize the actor playing picard. well he also played picard in a, different kinda star trek "fandom" film. i give'm props though for being a real decent look alike playing the role. in both projects.
Nice job, people! More than the improvements in the areas of effects, acting and direction in general, I have found myself quite invested in the fates of these characters. Bravos all around and continued success, with gratitude for keeping Trek alive! I thoroughly enjoyed this episode,
And tall. I spoke to Nick (Captain Hunter) about it at a con two years ago. Apparently, Patrick Stewart is around Nick's height, but Giles is much taller. I think that's where the line earlier on about him being shorter came from.
Kudos...this is by far one of the better Fan attempts. You have folks that can act, and you have writers that can write....which is far more than I can say for most other endeavors I have thus far seen.
I saw this Captain on Odessy Now he has his own staring role.... pretty KOOL,,, very nice. I like the fan films put out by the New Frontier productions. And they picked a good look alike for Picard
Hello, Mr. Cook. If you and Lucie don't know about it yet, you have got to check out "Star Trek Continues" the next time you are on UA-cam. It's a fan production that continues the adventures of Kirk and company during their original five-year mission. I mean, the writing is so sharp, the acting so compelling, the sets so detailed that you will feel like you are watching a newly discovered lost episode--believe me, you won't regret it (don't worry, I'll still watch Intrepid as often as I can).
Hi Danielle, other than some freelance work a few years back, my CG skills are purely self-taught and my renders a labor of love. I use Lightwave 3D in conjunction with Adobe's After Effects to achieve ship flybys, space combat scenes, close ups etc... Thank you for your kind words too. :-)
I usually don't watch Star Trek fan films, but Intrepid is so compelling. Thank you, Nick Cook, for helping to create such a fine addition to the saga. But I was just wondering, Mr. Cook, if you have ever heard from Patrick Stewart about "The Stone Unturned"? And I was also wondering, Mr. Cook, if you have ever thought about finding SantomPh and punching him out for insulting your wife (I happen to think she is quite lovely, if you don't mind my saying so, sir).
Hello, Mr. Cook. I believe I may owe you an apology--because, of all the times I have watched "The Stone Unturned," I never once thought to ask about the dedication at the beginning. Certainly, the production of a good episode is important; but the memory of a fallen (friend, I assume) is more so. However, if you would rather not speak of it, then perhaps it was improper of me to ask. In any case, my apologies and condolences.
When I 1st watched this last year I loved it (still do)! Good acting (great Picard), wonderful series theme music (I play it often). I was excited for new episodes, then the full realization of the Axanar lawsuit hit me. No, there won't be any new episodes. Dam Dam Dam!!!
Danielle, thanks again. Jon Carling does work professionally in visual effects. Martin has done some professional work. I don't think Lee or Steve have, but I may be mistaken. We will be doing more, and hopefully at a much higher standard, production-wise. :) Thanks again. :)
Hi Danielle, Through an awful lot of volunteer work. People love Star Trek, and just want to help out. We're very lucky. And yes, much of it was greenscreen. Thanks for watching, and I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. :)
Hey great job Nick to all and you! How long did it take to make this film from start to finish? The enhanced special effects? Was Giles (as Picard) the stunt double for Patrick Stewart?
Hello, Mr. Cook. Just thought that you would like to know that, when I think of great Star Trek theme music, I more often than not think of the theme from Intrepid. In fact, I often hum it to myself or whistle it out loud.
Hello, Mr. Cook. Sorry that I haven't communicated for so long, but I've been so busy with family and business. I know that you and Lucie know about Star Trek Continues, but I just want to strongly encourage you to watch their second episode "Lolani" if you haven't already. It's powerful and moving, and it will leave you thinking about very important issues--just as Star Trek always has. Don't worry--even though I think that Star Trek Continues is the best webseries based on Jim Kirk's adventures, I still think that Intrepid is the best Next Generation-based web series. Thank you, and good day!
oh and another thing i noticed that hunters sacuraty wolf wannaby was wearing a star fleet acadamy uniform -also i have a question was the reason room on hunters ship a interpid class by the way each room was the size of a broom closet was because of the Axanar law suit ?
Hey thanks for watching. Chief Petty Officer D’Gor, our Klingon security officer was actually wearing a costume based on the combat uniforms seen in a couple of episodes of DS9 (Nor The Battle To The Strong and Siege of AR-558). As to the size of the sets, we shot this more than fifteen years ago, Axanar didn’t exist then. The set size was due to the limited space we had to build sets, which is also why we later transitioned to entirely greenscreen starship interiors. :)
Sadly we haven't been yet. It is on or to do list though. We planned to visit when we were in Upstate New York for the Blood and Fire shoot in 2007, but just couldn't make it.
I can accept that people have trouble with the accents, since it's different to what we're used to seeing. But it's really no different than the majority having American accents. It's also worth noting, that the actors are not all from the same part of Scotland, they're not even all Scottish. ;) Anyway, appreciate the comments, and the views. Thanks folks. :)
I imagine it's likely been posited or addressed in the 11+ years since Stone Unturned was published on UA-cam, but as the Enterprise-E is still intact in this time period, her masterseat is presently Jean-Luc Picard and I presume the present production precedes Star Trek X: Nemesis, I'm thinking that would not be Picard but his genetically salvaged, partially Reman clone Shinzon (later Viceroy Shinzon) having taken the place of the 1701-E's captain, temporarily or for an extended period of time. The mention of a suppressed Romulan subcultural exodus with limited context beyond the stones, some anecdotal records passed down mostly by individuals of Romulan descent- I would assume this includes the Intrepid's COO; I have no familiarity beyond the present characters and their tales in your storybuilding, beyond what I've seen in 'A Stone Unturned'- and later on, the 'victims' turning out to be in fact Klingons undergoing genetic sampling, diagnostics and TAGC harvesting for Romulan-compatible transcriptease elements for genetic therapy and repair; well, I do rather remember Cold Station 12, and the explanation in the final season of Star Trek: Enterprise as to why Klingons were shorn of their crest for two or three generation until their genome's modified aesthetics bounced back. Likewise that the ship's counselor, a full-descent Betazoid is alone transferred off-craft on a standard crew assignment/rotation- a reasonable explanation for a potential removal of direct, living witness that would be admissible under Betazed's Federation subcharter as evidence for the relief of a senior officer of duty. Captain Hunter is a good man for considering this, and the safety of his ship's counselor and others on board if he had put up a fight that the impostor might've expected and would not at all be averse to an entire ship's crew or the craft itself becoming collateral damage in the process, even simply to conceal the evidence aboard ship. Far moreso than that in Hunter's going with the transition flow, and observing what came afterwards on his chosen terms; had he fought the transfer her end might've been far more permanent if her presence had jeopardized the impostor's cover story. Shinzon, as much as he sympathized with the Tal Shi'ar for his own ends, wanted more than anything to live long enough to burn his genefather Picard in living funeral and watch his world and its beloved oath fall to pieces with nothing to spare him the sacred decess of a charnel messiah. Captain Hunter's ignorance of this was bliss, and the Chief of Operations I suspect, given the oddly pronounced lack of interest he would not elaborate upon, knew how important what he knew was to lock behind a reasonable limit of enquiry and say nothing more. When the time came, U.S.S. Intrepid and her crew could act if they chose to without the frisson of fear that might've come with anticipating the worst, later confirmed, if so. And the rings. Who could forget the rings? Now: have I got it more or less on point? It's rare that any production, fan or canon, has ever addressed Shinzon's tale in precedence of Nemesis, and I am duly impress with the noble savagery I reckoned within. My only complaint is potentially the positioning of some of the pickup mikes and gain; at times the voices of many of the crew were barely audible or registering on the master track pre- or post-foley.
Hey sorry for the slow reply, thanks for taking the time to watch and post such a detailed comment. I wish we could take credit for such an interesting idea, but this takes place after Nemesis so that was supposed to be Picard. Really interesting idea though, and kinda makes me wish we’d gone in that direction. S’Ceris’ apparent disinterest was purely a decision on his part to not want to know. Fair comment on the audio, I’d like to say we’ve (mostly) gotten better at managing that in the intervening years. :)
I don't use those, I did in the past, gave all sorts a try, like Bryce for landscapes, 3D Max, but I feel Lightwave gives me greater control and the UI is more intuitive to me. I did at some point have 5 PCs running a single task using Lightwaves Network Rendering tool called Screamernet, but the power consumption, heat, noise etc were too much to keep as a constant setup. In the future I might network a better setup. Render times vary depending on quality, particles and objects in the project
***** Yes, and I tried to stay awake during Voyager; however, except for the spray painted costume of Jerri Ryan (whose appeal lasted about 5 minutes), Voyager bored the hell out of me. The whole premise: they get sent to the Delta quadrant and have to get back. Whoop dee doo.
Hello, Mr. Cook. I realize that most people who post here usually talk specifically about Intrepid, but I hope you don't mind my talking about Star Trek in general--specifically, the philosophy of Gene Roddenberry. As we all know, he believed that humanity would improve with time--"as we mature," as he was fond of saying. Connsidering all the bad things that have been happening recently, I just have to wonder if Mr. Roddenberry was correct. This has been one of those days I doubt it all.
Well, in case Paramount really is developing such a series, I have what I think is the perfect suggestion--Intrepid with Nick and Lucie Cook and company.
Hello, Mr. Cook. Do you remember a couple of years ago, when Paramount said that they were developing a new Trek television series set after the events of the Voyager series? I haven't heard anything about it since then; I was wondering if perhaps you had.
Hello, Mr. Cook. I was just wondering if you and your wife have ever visited my hometown, New York City. If you haven't, there is certainly much to see. However, I am hoping that--if you ever come to New York--you would make a point of visiting the great air and space museum on the West Side of Manhattan. Why, you ask? Because the museum is housed aboard the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Intrepid--and it is also currently displaying the prototype space shuttle orbiter Enterprise!
I loved it...Picard in the 'uninvited guests facility'. These fan films have great senses of humor and adventure.
I liked the line about the toothpick as well.
At Last A Scottish Star Trek! Well Done lads!
The Capt. Picard Character was well played too!
Erlangshen king Why make a stupid statement like that?
And no American Chief Engineer? I am SO insulted! Other than that, Bravo Zulu SS Intrepid cast and crew.
Well, that is an open hole for a future story. That engineering officer could manage to piece the last piece together. The rune was shattered not disintegrated.

mail a copy to his agent. I bet he would love it!
Loved it

JAS I gotta check out that transitions you mentioned
The ending score to this is FABULOUS!
Thank you, really glad you like it! :)
Great job everyone. The Picard character was outstanding.
i really enjoyed this version....thanks for sharing and doing it....love the guy who places Picard....awesome lookalike.....love the music as well as the story line....HIGH 5 to all on this one and especially to the one called Picard....yaaaahhhhh Patrick Stewart has a stand-in....my hats off to you...great acting....hard to play characters which have stood the test of time and seasons.....love it....thank you for doing this....thanks to all for doing a great segment...again HIGH 5....would love to see more of this
Another great installment of Intrepid! Keep up the great work!
Thanks ilttpvvm! I have to agree, I think this is one area where we really did match up to the 'real deal'. Dylan Feeney simply knocked it out of the park on that theme. I love it!
That was a real good Capt. Picard. Nice job.
I have agreed the actor could easily play Patrick Stewart's stunt double.
I hope there won't be legal consequences
And the best part is, the actor portraying Picard in this portrayed him in the Trek XXX Parody too. #funfacts
now theres a crossover
Thanks, we have fun doing it. We're glad some people enjoy watching. :)
Giles Aston, what a look-alike, voice and all. Fabulous!
He is indeed. :)
Awesome production!!! Keep them coming.
Intrepid and Voyager! Still the two prettiest ships in the fleet!
As fan films go, I rather enjoyed this one. Great effort, thank you!
Good job Nick and gang! You guys have come a very long way in film making from your early efforts I look forward to what you are cooking up next!
Thanks for sticking with us KC. Hopefully we'll continue to improve.
i kinda recognize the actor playing picard. well he also played picard in a, different kinda star trek "fandom" film. i give'm props though for being a real decent look alike playing the role. in both projects.
Well spotted. He actually shot our film first, though we released later. He’s an interesting guy. :)
Lllllllllll
Nice job, people! More than the improvements in the areas of effects, acting and direction in general, I have found myself quite invested in the fates of these characters. Bravos all around and continued success, with gratitude for keeping Trek alive! I thoroughly enjoyed this episode,
Holy Poop! Great Patrick Stewert look-a-like!! :)
Jonathan Myers All bald British men look alike. LOL
And tall. I spoke to Nick (Captain Hunter) about it at a con two years ago. Apparently, Patrick Stewart is around Nick's height, but Giles is much taller. I think that's where the line earlier on about him being shorter came from.
Jonathan Myers it seems that the historic holo projections were a little off, but that’s Picard alright.
Wow !!!
I agree. An excellent impression by Giles Aston.
Kudos...this is by far one of the better Fan attempts. You have folks that can act, and you have writers that can write....which is far more than I can say for most other endeavors I have thus far seen.
Thank you laviliterthefirst. We're not up to that standard yet by a long shot but we're working to improve. Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks again. :)
I enjoyed this very much!
I saw this Captain on Odessy Now he has his own staring role.... pretty KOOL,,, very nice. I like the fan films put out by the New Frontier productions. And they picked a good look alike for Picard
The shop designs are amazingly accurate and well researched on the Romulan Bird of prey and the Federation Intrepid class star ships.

God, I do live this series! Another great episode! WOW!
Great theme music. Particularly the end credits.
Awesome episode, you guys! Great job....regards, Daniel
"Set phasers tae malky"🤣seriously though. Well done 👏
Thanks, appreciate it. :)
Just been watching on Mac's World! Now I'm subscribed! Amazing content and filming, editing, appreciate all Luv&Peace Cheers from Sask Canada!
Thanks for watching, we appreciate it. :)
Great script, great acting and I can’t tell which sets are real and which green screen. And great Picard, of course!
Very much looking forward to seeing this tomorrow.
I usually don't watch Star Trek fan films, but Intrepid is so compelling. Thank you, Nick Cook, for helping to create such a fine addition to the saga. Your lighting camera work and sound are true Trek!
Brilliant Nick! 😊xx
Aww thank you. This is quite an old one, we’ve come along a ways since then. :)
I did love this as much as the other episodes.
When I 1st watched this last year I loved it (still do)! Good acting (great Picard), wonderful series theme music (I play it often). I was excited for new episodes, then the full realization of the Axanar lawsuit hit me. No, there won't be any new episodes. Dam Dam Dam!!!
There should be more scottish vulcans...
Don't forget there is already a black Vulcan in canon Trek (I know he's not Scottish, but he's a different racial group to Spock.)
Phasers set to "stoat the bastards!!"
alex jones He’s the same race as Spock, he’s Vulcan.
Yes and less American ones Please!
ransom182 There are no American Vulcans.
Really great job! Thanks!
Danielle, thanks again.
Jon Carling does work professionally in visual effects. Martin has done some professional work. I don't think Lee or Steve have, but I may be mistaken.
We will be doing more, and hopefully at a much higher standard, production-wise. :)
Thanks again. :)
fantastic guys great show by all intrepid crew
Great stuff from the Intrepid crew again. Can't wait for the next one. :)
Love to see such passionate community projects!
This was very tastefully done. Painstakingly designed down to the Bridge displays and uniforms. Obvious had nice budget.
can I just say, that the guy you have playing Picard is so much like the real one.
I have created an entire series based on star trek, how does one go about getting a show online like this, any info, tips, would be appreciated!
terry mitchell I will look for your Trek!
please don`t...
It's very thoughtful of you to ask. Marie was Alan Johnston's partner.
The similarity with Patrick Stewart is incredible
Really really good!!!!!
I loved it. Great work.
Awesome seems to small of a word for this Bloody Awesome job. Well done, Now give me more........
Just found this channel. Where have you been hiding??? Loving these vids. Well done all!
Well done guys - great to see the finished result!
Thanks Al.
Great work love it
Hi Danielle,
Through an awful lot of volunteer work. People love Star Trek, and just want to help out. We're very lucky.
And yes, much of it was greenscreen. Thanks for watching, and I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. :)
GREAT series! Love the music. Is there a soundtrack?
Hey great job Nick to all and you! How long did it take to make this film from start to finish? The enhanced special effects? Was Giles (as Picard) the stunt double for Patrick Stewart?
This i thought was pretty good thank you for the show!
Hello, Mr. Cook. Just thought that you would like to know that, when I think of great Star Trek theme music, I more often than not think of the theme from Intrepid. In fact, I often hum it to myself or whistle it out loud.
Without the final glyph stone? Because it broke when he dropped it? They don't have glue in the 24th century?
They don't have glue, they don't have replicators, no way to scan in and make a copy or even repair the damage with the transporters. Right.
Thank you!

I like to believe the "better angels of our nature" will prevail in the end. Hope your day has started to improve. :)
Thanks Dave. :)
Well done! I thoroughly enjoyed this! The Picard doppelganger might be a way to circumvent CBS's stronghold on fan films! :-)
Sadly we haven't been yet. It is on or to do list though. We planned to visit when we were in Upstate New York for the Blood and Fire shoot in 2007, but just couldn't make it.

I personally liked the accents, even if, as Mr. Scott may have said: 'How quaint."
1:38 Holy shit. That guy is the spitting image of you-know-who. Wouldn't be surprised it it's a long-lost brother or something.
+Alex Palmer What guy is the spitting image of Dr Who?
Anonymous01959 He's the spitting image of Patrick Stewart, aka Captain Picard. I said you-know-who because I thought it was too obvious. Guess not...
+Alex Palmer Mr. Clean? Kidding ;)
Joe Masters LOL Good one. :)
Yeah we enjoyed it!
Love it. Picard was well played, and i think its super cool that irish people come from Trillius Prime. This explains everything.
P Kelly make that Scottish.. :-)
credits on the ships was a fun little tweak
Thanks. That was Jen Carling’s idea and execution.

Thanks, Rob. :)
Thanks Gary. :)
Love the way they captured Picard’s insufferable arrogance!😆 Every sympathy to Captain Hunter!
Thanks, quite an old one this but we had fun making it. Giles was a good laugh. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. :)
Thanks!
Thank you. :)
Fantastic stuff :)
great job as always, you can't keep a good captain down!
Just noticed the typo in Coleb's profile. He has spend instead of he has spent.
Thanks Mage. :)
well done!
you guys have got a great lookalike, shame you couldn't get a soundalike for picard...
Fun watching as always, Nick. Honestly, I'd rather watch this than Voyager.
wtf....seriously? Did u actually watch this?
***** Yes, and I tried to stay awake during Voyager; however, except for the spray painted costume of Jerri Ryan (whose appeal lasted about 5 minutes), Voyager bored the hell out of me. The whole premise: they get sent to the Delta quadrant and have to get back. Whoop dee doo.
sickphil71 Agreed but...Just saying...this makes b movies look like Hollywood quality.
I liked introduction the music and graphics were different compared most fan productions
Thanks, glad you liked it. :)
That's exactly what happened. And thank you. :)
Hello, Mr.
