Mutated Nut he wasn't into the music anymore and didn't want to be forced into this style of angry hatred. I think he also said his basement was flooded at home and was away while his wife had to deal with it. Basically just a lot of self doubt and disgust for his forced personality and musical style. He didn't feel genuine.
Apparently he had a breakdown in the bands trailer afterwards and told them he was done with it and they were confused and angry after such a great performance.
@@JSAiKO I was there, and yeah, one of the best shows I've ever seen. The Prodigy played the same day I believe too, and that was just as good, if not even better...
@@JSAiKO Haha. That was one of the best live shows I've ever seen. It was just so loud, and to see thousands of metal heads bouncing to The Prodigy, at a metal festival was so mental.

I'm not sure if you caught it, but during Devin's Halloween concert this year, he performed Skeksis with Gene Hoglan on drums. Hopefully it comes out on DVD so you can check it out in full quality, but there is an unofficial recording on UA-cam currently if you can't wait.

I love how simple the intro break down is when the heavy groove riff kicks in. So awesome sounding as it builds up and just keeps chugging. Slow always sounds heavier, just gets you hang banging.

Ruben, your reactions are exact. SYL just PUMP YOU UP. And, the interesting thing is you say exactly what I do...I will never see them live...and it breaks my heart. Seeing DTP live is immense, but SYL (and all of Devs music) has a special place in my heart, untouchable by any other. He got Jed Simon on stage at the Retinal Circus in London, and they performed Love? Amongst others from SYL. Maybe one day....
I was there! About 5 people from the front on Devin’s left, it was incredible, sadly the only time I ever saw them live but still mind blowing. When they performed polyphony/the new black the bass felt like massive shockwaves coming from the stage like the explosion at the beginning of akira. Absolutely sublime.
I get emotional when listening to such ascendant music as well \m/

11:58 feel your pain knowing they don't play together anymore. Was definitely a sight to see in their heyday, glad I had the chance to see them when I did. At the time I didn't know much about Devin Townsend or SYL but I knew they had a Fear Factory vibe to them and at the time I was really into FF. These two bands were/are the pinnacle of the Progressive/Industrial metal genre.
Saw them live on their last tour, one of the best moments in my concert going career lol

Check out 'Almost Again' and 'The New Black'. Both songs are from the same album, 'The New Black', but you'll get the live version of the song, 'The New Black' from this very same download show. 'Almost Again' has its own video. 'Pholyphonic' is kind of an intro the 'The New Black' song so make sure you include it.
Also, I know Meshuggah's 'Clockworks' didn't do anything for you, I you must listen to the track 'Bleed' or 'Combustion'. They're rhythms are different from 'Clockworks' and are more suitable for your style. 90% certain you'll like them.

if you like this and fear factory you need to check out divine heresy. they only realesed two albums with different singers but both were like this but faster and heavier with more melodic parts.
