    I liked how this video was straight to the point without waiting on the customer for another video. Nice work, I’ve learned a lot from watching these.

    Jeebus! new valves and crank and piston and welding and on and on, that was certainly in the category of getting another motorcycle and selling that one for parts. Its a real sweetheart of a motor, I was just riding my friends 03 WR250f yesterday, it revs to 13,500, but does make decent low end. Another big job down, congrats! onto the next!

      It was certainly a big job and yes these little 250’s certainly are screamers. I’d love to open it up but it wasn’t quite ready for that.

    Not worth the money needed IMO. Great video, a lot of work put into an old race bike. I’m sure the engine isn’t the only thing tired on this YZ.

      100% i wouldn't ride this thing without framing it and suspension. I can only imagine how dangerous it is after seeing the motor.

    I'm glad you and the customer decided to fix it. I don't care for mechanics when they say its not worth it and I should just scrap it. Rebuild it and do you job. Maybe this is a special bike that is special and or new so rebuilding it is worth it. But anything can be rebuilt. Just depends on what you want to do with it.

      I’ll fix anything and you’re right sometimes the machines have sentimental value and it doesn’t matter the cost.

    When the 01 model came out in 00 I was fascinated. Rode a 02 model when it came out and my lap times vs my 125 were night and day better. I went and got this exact bike and so did 2 of my friends. It was a great bike for me. But.... anymore this thing is so outdated slow low on horsepower and suspension + braking its not worth more than a collector piece. If you notice you don't ever see many on the market especially for how many were made. Thats because a lot never got put back together when people were learning to work on them. The 2 02s that my friends had made it one season then layed in the shop for years and years in pieces to only be thrown away I believe. If I was this guy I would of just saved up 3k and got a semi modern bike in good shape. I would be afraid to ride that thing after looking at the motor. I can only imagine what the bearings and suspension are like.

      It was certainly a lot of work and money to put into an old bike but that’s what the owner wanted. Certainly outdated compared to newer bikes but then again so is my 04 crf450r

    • @motofarmmx2430
      @motofarmmx2430 2 місяці тому +1

      @@rockspowersports i had a 04 crf450 too lol. That was carmichaels favorite bike. I didn't get along with it too well. But your 450 isn't as outdated as you think and still very competitive to this day. Horsepower is more of a issue in the 250 class. Your 450 isn't as far off to a new one as that 250f is to a new 250f. That's a big hp gap for 250s. Kris keefer a very well known tester and former pro just tested a new 07crf450. The results may surprise you he loved it and its better for the average guy that's not a pro compared to a 25 model. Honda actually has been talking to him about it. Imagine a new Honda based off the 07. I will say this i liked my 06 yz 450 more than my new one.

    16:32 torsional vibration IS TERRIBLE thing for ANY MACHINE!!! EXCESSIVE Vibrations can/will result into a TUNING PROBLEM CHILD and a POWER KILLER . NOT TO MENTION like u said STRESSES EXISTING MOUNTS
