I love looking at your bookshelf and already knowing what books you're going to be talking about because they're not there! ..... maybe I've watched too many of your videos...... nah.
That happened to me, I got 20 pages into looking for Alaska and wasn't sure about it and now about a year later I've read finished and loved it. So just try again later
Me too!!! I hated the first few pages and I did not even care for the event that it counts the days down to - and ALL of the characters were SO unlikable!!
SO happy you posted this video - I've been placing orders via Amazon like crazy lately as the island I just moved to has no English bookstores. I've been wondering what to include in my next order. Contemporaries are my favorite. Knew John Green would make it into this list! Really want to read Amy & Rodger's Epic Detour - sounds really beautiful. LOVE Rainbow Rowell's writing :)
I love Looking for Alaska, can't remember much of it, should re-read it. I'm now reading Amy and Roger's epic detour and Morgan's other books I've bought recently too. And I would love my own Etienne :-)
Only three videos watched and I love you already. I've been looking for a channel like this for months and finally! FINALLY! I've read 80% of the books that you've mentioned here and completely agree with you!!! I love you! I just love you. Keep on making good videos :) I'm gonna watch them all!!!! x x
You should read attachments soon. I just started it and I'm really enjoying it. The characters are absolutely amazing and it's Rainbow Rowell so obviously it's amazing.
Love your passion for reading - it's so refreshing! Ngl I don't see the craze of John green I think his characters are unrealistic in a strange way very similar to your point about them being to intelligent
I don't understand why "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" has to be even a duology, let alone a trilogy... But this list is very diverse and interesting, thank you
I read and loved Everything, Everything. I literally went straight from contemporary to horror/sci-fi this month because I'm reading quite a few of Stephen King's books, then I have some Historical Fiction books I have to read (which includes The Book Thief!) so that's pretty much all I'll be doing this month. :)
I really didn´t enjoy the fault in our stars when it came out, but I did like paper towns! Great recommendations, deifnitely feeling like reading something contemorary now!
I'm reading Fangirl for the first time and I'm finding it enjoyable but so un-relatable :( haha. I'm 25 so that may explain it but I also never went to university/college. I think I may have enjoyed it more when I was under 21.
Speaking of contemporary books, you've got to read 'Tell Me Three Things' by Julie Buxbaum. Oh my gosh. It was amazing. I loved it so much and it was one of my favourite reads in a while. Let me know if you check it out! It's fairly new so I haven't found anyone who's read it yet!
Hi Hailey! it´s been a few while since i´ve been watching your videos, thanks to you so far i read Fangirl, Ugly love and To all the boys i loved before and im starting The unexpected everything today (and im so so excited about it!!! i love dogs =D) so thank you sososo muuuch!!! Oh and i love John Green too
Yes! I am so excited to find someone else who also thinks John Green's characters are too knowledgeable. I love the ideas John and Hank express in their vlogs, but they sometimes seem out of place in John Green's books. His YA characters always seem a little too mature to me. After watching this video, and a few of your others, I've added quite a few of Morgan Matson's books to my TBR. I can't wait to pick one of her books up:) Have you read The Year of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty? It's a fun contemporary book that I enjoyed reading when I was in high school. Also, I'm curious to know your opinion on Sarah Dessen's books?
I am trying to find a book but I can't remember its name please help!!! So the book cover has 2 characters on a balcony and their backs are facing each other, the cover was bluish-purplish I think. The male character's name was Adam, he lived with his dad and brother. And female character loved to watch movies. She smoked too. She went to her neighbor's house because he had movie collection. This went on for some time before he tried to assault her. And then Adam came and beat him up real good. Yeah that's all I can remember.
I actually haven't read The Fault in Our Stars or Looking For Alaska ( yet!) but I love love love Paper Towns. It's fantastic. I enjoyed The Unexpected Everything, Eleanor and Park, Fangirl, Everything Everything, Jenny Han's To All The Boys, and the Stephanie Perkins trilogy too.
I really recommend you read 'Weightless' by Kandi Steiner. I cannot stress enough how much I loved that book. I will say it's more on the adult contemporary side, as its got sexual content however it takes place during summer & would most likely be ained at young adults too. Honestly, its gripping from the very beginning so give it a try.
hailey i love love love your videos girl!!!!! just wondering, have you heard of the delirium series? they're amazing. if you don't know about them you should seriously check them out. also the septimus heap series.
Just saw the link of bookdepository in your description. Amazing website! thank you! Awesome video as always. I haven't read any of these books, but I will. They sound awesome! I think I'll especially enjoy Eleanor and Park :D
I'm glad I'm not the only one who had issues with the ending of Everything Everything. I loved the rest of the book but I thought the ending was too unrealistic.
WAIT, WHAT. Is To All The Boys I Loved Before going to be a trilogy? Ugh. I think I'll let myself get spoiled to see with whom Lara Jean ends up with, because I'm still bitter after the ending of the second book.
Have you read colleen hoover books? She's a great contemporary romance author. I love all of her books especially November 9, Slammed, Point of Retreat, Maybe Someday, It Ends with Us and Hopeless.
Can anyone recommend a channel that reviews primarily non-YA fiction or books aimed at older audiences? Like typical NYT Bestsellers, Pulitzr nominees, big name conetemporary fiction authors etc. Struggling to find channels which don't focus mainly on books about kids in high school/college age range
Jessica Ta Yes!! You Definitely should. I sometimes get intimidated by how thick her last two book were but it's worth the read. You'll love all her characters and maybe relate to the story?
are these books suitable for 12 years and up as i am thinking of getting some for gifts at christmas, anyone can respond if you have read thes books. Thank you. xxx
I love watching your videos but we have very different taste in books I've noticed after reading a few of your recommendations but I'm 25 so maybe that's why lol
No prob! I'm pretty new too and I just watched a lot of her old videos and I happened to see that one a couple of days ago! I love sibling tattoos like that.
love rainbow rowell's writing
I love looking at your bookshelf and already knowing what books you're going to be talking about because they're not there! ..... maybe I've watched too many of your videos...... nah.

never liked john green's book but then again I read only few chapters of looking for alaska and tfios and I didn't feel like continuing
Give it a try, but don't force yourself to do it, it's a great read I promise!
God! literally I Can relate
I dont like his books either.
You should read some Nicholas Sparks books! They are the best contemporary reads.

I love Looking for Alaska, can't remember much of it, should re-read it. I'm now reading Amy and Roger's epic detour and Morgan's other books I've bought recently too. And I would love my own Etienne :-)

You should read attachments soon. I just started it and I'm really enjoying it. The characters are absolutely amazing and it's Rainbow Rowell so obviously it's amazing.

I don't understand why "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" has to be even a duology, let alone a trilogy...
But this list is very diverse and interesting, thank you
Fangirl is my favorite Contemporary book/ one of my all time favorite books! it was the first book I read that kick started my love for reading. :)
I'm not a great fan of contemporaries but I definitely want to check out anna and the french kiss :)
I'm so glad that someone enjoyed Night Owls as much as I did :) Not many people talk about it
One of my friends is OBSESSED with Night Owls, so you're not alone. 😂 I haven't read it yet though. ^^

I really didn´t enjoy the fault in our stars when it came out, but I did like paper towns! Great recommendations, deifnitely feeling like reading something contemorary now!

I LOVE YOUR RECOMMENDED READS AND IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO DO A CONTEMPORARY EDITION!!:)

Oh and i love John Green too
Since I know you love Alice in Wonderland, did you ever consider reading Alice and the Red Queen by Christina Henry? :)
Yes! I am so excited to find someone else who also thinks John Green's characters are too knowledgeable. I love the ideas John and Hank express in their vlogs, but they sometimes seem out of place in John Green's books. His YA characters always seem a little too mature to me.

WAIT, WHAT. Is To All The Boys I Loved Before going to be a trilogy? Ugh. I think I'll let myself get spoiled to see with whom Lara Jean ends up with, because I'm still bitter after the ending of the second book.
