    I miss seeing Doddy on YT. His ability to explain and relate things is absolute next level. I knew when he did his love letter to Mondraker build and then also to XT, there was a strong chance he was going, but man, I really miss the guy!

      Thanks for commenting! It was great to film this unexpected podcast with Ben, and reflect on stuff from over the years. I'll deffo be doing another one with him, perhaps teaming up with some others. We'll see what happens. In addition to my job at Mondraker, I'll be posting videos on my own UA-cam, but I won't be hammering it - just here and there. As often as feels right. I'll always love talking about bikes, and explaining things - so I will scratch that itch for sure! If you have ideas, let me know in the comments on my first video 😉

    Great interview, Doddy was my favourite on gmbn as I'm all about tech and detail, he's the guy that I'd like to sit next to on a transatlantic flight next time. Hopefully he wouldn't mind either.

    Doddy was one of the two main reasons I watched GMBN, Blake being the other. I was bummed when he left but it makes sense. Best of luck on the newest venture.

    Agree with comments below that this interview is brilliant for the honesty. Doddy's story is really amazing, how he grew in the media side of this sport. Compliments to both of you and for allowing Doddy to tell his own story. Miss him on YT and his tech advice. Thanks for posting this. Good luck!!

      My sentiments exactly. I wanted one till I hit that wall of treadmill he described as riding through treacle. Still want one, but all my free time is spent around mountain bikes. E mountain bikes is a whole other sport imo.

    This was brilliant, at 50 I was reading MBUK from the early days, absolutely loved it, loved the mid 90s era when tech was starting to move forwards, loved my Zaskar LE, getting back into biking in recent years, Doddy’s videos on how to were invaluable, absolute credit to the industry

    • @EMTBPodcast
      @EMTBPodcast  9 місяців тому

      I feel much the same way. MBUK in the 90s was the main driver for me getting more seriously into MTB. Big nostalgia for those early days…

    It's great to see Doddy on UA-cam again :-) It's Great to hear about his hobbies and new role in more detail. I still feel that owning three mandrakes is doddy's fault :-) 2016 -foxy RR - 2019 - Foxy RR and 2022 Craftyt R. thanks Ben for helping understand that from your great prod cast

    I think Doddy can walk away from GMBN Tech with the benefit of knowing his immense knowledge not just made the channel what it is today but provided viewers with essential guidance without being patronising or condescending. Nice video Ben, thanks for giving us fans a bit more Doddy. He will be missed.

    Awesome stoked Doddy is enjoying the TQ motor I was told on paper I’m perfect for that size motor age 48, 5’8” and under 10 stone, I forget I’m on an emtb sometimes and you do have to put effort in I always finish a ride cooked but I’d never do those rides on an analog now every ride not a chance.. I watched his sram GX AXS review last night swatting up that might be my next upgrade liked how he took the whole derailleur apart straight out of the box haha.

    • @EMTBPodcast
      @EMTBPodcast  9 місяців тому +1

      The TQ motor is in my opinion the best of the light weight motors. The only issue I find is the range of the bike. My rides are generally less than 2 hours and I'm 71kg so not a concern for me.

      Sorry, this was one of the first podcasts we recorded and didn’t realise how range dependent the microphones were. Unfortunately if you watch on an android device or an older laptop people seem to have found this one excessively quiet. Sounds ok on my MacBook or IPhone 14.

    Massive loss for GMBN!!!! Maybe im completely off the mark, but having Anna as a co presenter, that he has had to carry the entire time, must have been the last nail in the coffin... after the first few weeks of Anna being on the show, I thought that it must be a question of months before either she got fired or Daddy left for greener pastures.

    • @0530AZTECA
      @0530AZTECA 8 місяців тому +1

      I agree 100% with your view on Doddy and Anna. Now Blake, Rich, Neil & the rest have to carry her. Can they send her out to pasture. She’s clueless and a true definition of a blonde. 🤷🏻‍♂️
