  • Armenian sweet pastry Gata, the most delicious pastry made by Armenians all over the world. Enjoy 😊
    For this recipe you’ll need
    3.5 cups all purpose flour
    3/4 cup cold butter
    1 egg
    1 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp yeast
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/2 cup yogurt
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1/4 cup milk
    1 tsp honey or 1/2 tsp vanilla
    For the filling khoorez
    1/2 cup flour
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 Tbsp butter
    Second filling
    1/3 cup almonds flour
    1/3 cup sugar
    1/3 cup crushed walnuts
    2 tbsp butter
    For the egg wash
    1 egg yolks
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    use egg whites to brush inside the roll

    Wow they look so delicious 😋! I've never had luck making dough. Luckily I live in Los Angeles where there are plenty of Armenian bakeries! So I'll buy gatas 😀

      My advice is to buy one of those dough mixer and it will be a game changer, so easy to use and will do the work for you 😊 so you save a trip to the bakery and save money and most important is that you control how much sugar you use!Thank you so much for commenting!

      Sorry to here that jan , did you brush the dough with egg before adding your khoris ? Second did you cut it so sharp at the tip where it opened? I don’t know what went wrong with it if you followed all the steps it should have not come out.

      @@saraabraham9963 yes it could be, did you see in the video after mixing the flour sugar and butter when holding it in your hand and pressing it should come together but still fells like sandy and not too oily and sticky.
      Each step is important to have a good experience with it, but practice makes perfect so keep trying jan and you will get better at it 🥰❤️

      1 cup of flour is about 145 grams unsifted scooped all purpose flour and about 9 grams for 1 tablespoon and it all depends on what kind of flour you’re using
