What an insane performance. Understated, relaxing, and intense all at once. The bass really dominates the mix with a heavy thump and the delay on the snare helps you get lost in the groove. Mizutani's guitar is quiet and frequently interrupted by feedback, but its backseat role here keeps the track from entering the realm of full-on noise like many of their other recordings. The slides and fills from the bass are sick, too, especially when the bassist starts going further up the neck during the guitar solos.

Some of their live work was apparently performance work accompanied with the noise-heavy instrumentation. I really do wonder what it was like seeing this group of mysterious individuals preforming this incredibly unique genre in some shithole venue. Apparently one of the band members flew all the way to North Korea, due to their communist beliefs. That fact really continues to ring in my head whenever i listen to their grainy, mysterious catalog of music. How is he doing? Did he die on his way over? Did he regret leaving? That sorta ambiguity, along the rest of the other weird aspects of their musical presence just hits me. I love it.
