      Amazing looking watch, especially the one with the blue dial. Exquisite. The bracelet design is not too much to my liking.
      Perhaps, The Globemaster with the new speedmaster bracelet would look nice.

    Peter, video presentation is phenomenal, so much so that this is the second ‘22 watch you have presented that I’d like!
    I’ve collected & enjoyed Omega for a life time & have my Grand & Fathers lifetime watches.
    You have shown the dial in many attractive ways, but the caseback takes me back to the good old days, & sold this watch to me.
    On metal or leather this is a daily wear, & I will certainly explore building a TI case and dial version for 2022.

    This Omega railmaster could seriously be an affordable and readily available alternative to the Rolex Explorer 124270. The way this video was shot and lit, is so beautiful and artistic, those close up shots of the watch could fit in a new 007 movie trailer. 👌👍👏

    Great review! I’ve had the black dial version for over a year and I love it. It doesn’t get compliments like the blue Seamaster 300m that I owned previously (which I sold because it was too big for my wrist) but I enjoy that it’s understated, and that, I know the true value, elegance, history and technology of this watch (even if others don’t). One thing that you didn’t mention in the review that I love about this watch is the slightly domed crystal. Perfection!

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  2 роки тому +5

      Correct, I have been enjoying what the light does with that slightly domed sapphire, very pleasing. If the watch only satisfies the owner and doesn't scream "look at men, look at me"..thats an excellent watch designer with much thought
      Enjoy yours 👍

    Your review was so good I bought a blue dial steel bracelet Seamaster Railmaster today before they disappear again from the range. It also helped that when I bought my Speedmaster Moonwatch a while back the Omega boutique gave me a couple of hours tuition with their watchmaker dissembling and reassembling a Railmaster movement. That was a lot of fun and showed me how well they are made. You are right, at this price point there is a lot of subtle work that has gone into the finishing of this watch that makes it more impressive and beautiful than it appears at first glance. Making something simple, high quality and elegant isn't easy. Thank you.

    Great review. I've had my black dial Railmaster for 2 years next month. I bought it as my dip into vintage watches without the headache of actually owning a vintage watch. I have ended up wearing mine more than any other watch I own. My daytona, pepsi and hulk are getting almost no wrist time now and I ended up getting my Omega for under 3K slightly used. The dial is awesome! I always like dials that feature something unique, thats why I adore the Rolex from the 70s with tigereye and even birch dials. The brushed dial on this one certainly tickles my fancy.
    I disagree on the crown with you, Peter. Had the crown be a standard cylinder the watch might have looked a bit stiff and a little to strong with all these horizontal and vertical lines of the brushing. With this crown the watch looks a little more playful and elegant. Atleast in my humble opinion that is.
    Great review as always Peter. It is the mix of more luxury timepieces (Omega, Mühle Glashütte, etc.) and the more affordable ones; the mix of microbrands and established ones that I like about your channel.

    I own this watch in the Demin color. I love it. It's tough and sophisticated. I don't care for the denim NATO that it comes with though; it's too distracting and takes away from the beautiful dial. It mainly gets worn on a leather strap or more traditional solid color NATO. Great review!

What's funny is those watches are a basic Seiko dress watch and a Hamilton field watch neither being particularly "interesting". This watch isn't to my taste, but I really respect the design and that Omega caliber.

    I came oh-so very close to buying the Denim variant of this watch a year ago as it was HEAVILY discounted on the nato strap. I love the watch but really wanted the bracelet. However, on the bracelet, it loses its clout as it is too close in price to the Aqua Terra, which is far beyond my range of affordability in any case. In hindsight, should I have bought the Railmaster Denim? It is such a beautiful watch and I think of it often, but my Tudor Heritage Ranger scratches that itch very nicely…. for now, in any case. Thanks for taking the tine to produce another excellent video, Peter. I hope 2022 treats you very well.

      I nearly plunked down the money for the 50th Anniversary Lunar Pilot, although I have the standard one already. I'm still pondering it.
      With a collection that surpassed 400 watches, some months ago, I certainly don't need another, haha, but I know the collection will continue to grow. A Planet Ocean is appealing to consider, if I can convince myself it's worth it. Time will tell.

    I wanted to see the black version but my ad said they don’t bother stocking them. But even without seeing it there are a couple of issues, different lume on the hands is really quite tasteless. I want to try a watch with a bracelet but not being able to get a nice fit would annoy me. You would not wear trousers that were to tight or kept falling down. Both of these things seem very much at odds with what could be omega's version of a tool watch

    I both agree and disagree as regards the crown: I love the aesthetics, but the 8500 series crowns were easier to use. Thankfully, my Railmaster is accurate enough that I don't have to touch it very often - and I almost never take it off! You can see me flying with it in my videos. How do you find the legibility on the grey/silver dial? My denim version is excellent that way :)

    I bought a pair of Corgeut Aqua Terra and Railmaster homages, about $70us. To my surprise the Railmaster was much more my pick for design.
    Rather poor lume on both, but was expecting that, I suppose...

    I know that a date complication isn't part of the Railmaster's offerings. If it did, it would be fantastic.✌🏽

    A nice simple watch, I know it's a vintage style piece but I'm not a fan of the aged lume . I quite like a butterfly clasp, if you get a good fit. Prefer the globemaster, with the fluted bezel although they are a bit thick . I still think this is a bit plain for my taste, I would go for an aqua terra. I do get the appeal though , I just need a bit more going on for my taste . Great vid as always Peter, always informative mate .

    I have a slightly different position on the caseback. As an engineer, I want to see the mechanism and try to understand how it works. Especially so if the non transparent caseback is no longer required to achieve the magnetic resistance.

    • @PeterKotsa

      would have been nice, but probably at the expense of a little case thickness
      I too love to see the movement, but in this case, the wearability is very welcomed

    An understated, triple-master gentleman. So much to respect here, whether or not one agrees with the style.
    Personally, I appreciate what Omega has done here, and some day, my bank account will allow me to appreciate one in my collection. Good thing this one looks like it will stand the test of (Peter's well placed pun) time.

    This watch is a good example of historical precedence harming sales. 100 years ago, there was reason to not include a date function, but not now. They would have sold a lot more of these if it had a calendar.

    I would have loved to see them do a faraday cage (even though it isn’t needed with the Silicon) but cool to see it stay thin. I have been looking at this or an AT.

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  2 роки тому +1

      I think you cant go wrong with either..the AT is a little thicker profile but apart from that Omega makes a killer watch in the entire range

      @@PeterKotsa they do! I love omega, wish they would make a little bit slimmer automatic chrono, their 9900 watches are 4mm thicker than a Daytona which hurts versatility. Not looking for a wafer but would love to see them slim 1-2mm off them, I’d be buying several haha

    Hi!!! I’m thinking of buying this Omega model, but I don’t know how big it will look on my 6.3in wrist…I’ve been wearing my Tudor Ranger 39mm and it looks right in….but I don’t know how this Omega will wear…similar? Smaller? Bigger?

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  Рік тому +1

      Ive tried the Ranger on myself, and the Omega is very close, in fact you will probably not even notice the difference in sizing as it is that close
      If you get an chance, pop into an AD and try it on the wrist beforehand 👍
