Yes, they make sure its is not worth repairing any of these crappy things. Its great we all got a chance to see whats in and that is only cause you made this happen and thank you for that.

Yeah, if I was designing one of these I'd at least make the fuse replaceable, I bet a lot get thrown out from accidental over current faults.

Thanks for the video. I blew the fuse on my green dot by plugging in the vacuum cleaner. It's past warranty so rather than toss it, I'm hoping to replace the fuse myself. Hopefully I manage with a few less injuries. 😁

Makes me really think about what these mother boards really contain. When we connect this stuff to our home networks we really don't know what type of cryptic data is being transmitted. Great video!

That ESP microcontroller has no microphone and no other sensors attached, it's basically an Arduino with built-in WiFi. These small smart sockets can be modified to run an open source firmware called tasmota which even let's you add sensors on the free GPIO pins and makes it work independent of any mobile app.
I would be more concerned about the mobile app it's paired with or the Alexa speaker that listens to everything you're saying 24/7.

🤣🤣 I hope you're ok. Thanks for the video.

That's an ESP8266 board, it's a WiFi SOC with an integrated micro and usually a couple GPIO pins. I think they are pretty standard for IoT stuff since they are so cheap nowadays.

How many hours you took to fix that?

No entiendo porque hacen algo tan duro para abrir lo que no quieren esque se reparen y que vuelvas a comprar.. a veces no quedan bien cuando se le mete presión...

The fuse is in the brown box you can see next to the relay!!

Could it take a 13A fuse safely🤔? I might give ita try

It would probably be fine. Can't recall off hand what the relay was rated at.

I was trying to connect one of these and as soon as it connects it starts to go on and off continuously and never stops. Any idea what might be wrong? It's a WAGA WiFi outlet. Do you know how to factory reset WAGA?

    • @JunctionRunner
      @JunctionRunner  4 роки тому +1

Unfortunately I don't know how to factory reset these, and there seem to be a lot of variants that have slightly different firmware.

@@JunctionRunner thanks for the reply. I found the same problem. So far all the ways I've tried have not worked.
The outlet just sounds like a turn signal with the relay just clicking on and off. And the light of plugged in turns on and off continously with the relay. I feel if I could factory reset it, it would fix it. But can't figure out how and with it being from China, not much support exits either.

You destroyed the socket just to open it and your fingers too

All that work doesn't seem to be worth it on something that cost about $7. Plus, all the profanity thrown in and details about injuring yourself twice was not really necessary or helpful. Otherwise it could have been a good video on troubleshooting the plug.

Profanity is not necessary or appreciated.
