On that car it's a good idea to take throttle body off take off clean it, idle air control valve during to clean it and the whole port. While the throttle is off take EGR valve off clean it and the EGR port running into intake. Those clog up bad with carbon and cause issues you think you can't find. Then to top it off a maf senor cleaning. After that it should run like new unless it's a bad sensor or on its way out. I have one and seen multiple ppl change the iacv, tps, map, maf, its. All along it was a totally clogged or semi clogged EGR intake port immediately after to the bottom right of the throttle body. It will throw off the whole intake/throttle system. If it's really clogged get a old piece of speedometer cable cut to length. Stick in drill fray end a bit spray cleaner in port and work it from in intake and from EGR valve side. I've seen ppl spend over a grand when all it takes is $5 cleaner, $3 tbi gasket,$6 EGR gasket, and possibly old speedometer cable.
Is there anything else besides a speed odometer cable
You're the man! I love your videos, very well made. Thanks for taking the time to make them. I will now go clean my idle sensor on an 02' Impala with the same symptoms.
Mine accelerated today with high idle I’m going to try this and tps sensor thank you
Awesome video! I would love to have a tool like what you have there.
Reset the computer bro. Unplug the battery
Changed mine and that's still wasn't what was wrong
How did the fix hold up?
It's still causing intermittent problem. Haven't been able to catch it on the scanner when it's acting up. I'm going to replace the IAC. Just waiting for the part. I'll probably follow up with another video.
@@CharlesAndCars Definitely worth a shot trying to clean it. I would watch a follow up on whether a new one cures it. How important is the part brand; as far as oem vs aftermarket etc. would you say?
@@tchrisou812 I always try to go oem if the price difference is not ridiculous and for some parts, like o2 sensors, map sensors I go oem. I've had issues with aftermarket replacements. Sometimes it's just not possible due to cost.
I didn't have to go threw all that to change mine in my 2003 impala it took me 15 minutes
Jesus! My 3800 series 2 iac is way easier to get to! 30 seconds and it's out.
Yeah, If I had disconnected the electrical connector on the egr valve and just pulled the purge valve out of the way it would have been easy.. Sometimes I miss the obvious/easy way to do things...
