An honest mechanic. You could have charged the customer but you choose to do the right thing instead. That is what makes life time customers that recommend you to everyone. I wish I could have found an honest, competant mechanic before I paid $5600 for maintenance and repairs on an 09 Odyssey that cosy me $4,700. I'm still having problems with shop that did the work. All this after dealer stripped oil pan plug
I had just replaced my battery and noticed the idle was high. Thought it was a coincidence until I saw your video. I went back and found the cable to the cruise control you mentioned was wedged against the corner of the battery, making it slightly tighter than it should be. I slide it off and the idle is back to normal. Really appreciate you making this video!
Even after finding the problem and adjusting the cable, most shops would have changed the idle air control valve anyway. Just to charge the customer for something. Good stuff bro!
Well after a small attempt at finding a vacuum leak I tried tweaking the accelerator pedal back/up. And it worked! It was just a sticking pedal. Give that a try.

Initially I was having the p0507 code error which I've recently changed the idle air control valve, the map sensor, pcv valve, and the engine air filter by myself and cleaned the insides of the metal round piece which connects to the air intake hose while the battery is disconnected which fixed my error now I'm hoping I just have to readjust the long metal piece like within the video to fix the high idle when the car starts up.
Lmfao bro this helped me out a lot so I changed the power steering pump and out of nowhere it starting idling high for no reason I didn’t get it but watching this video and you showing the cruise control cable mine was on the opposite side of the power steering reservoir so that’s why I was idling so high thanks man 👍🏼

While cruising 60mph in 5th gear, it's turning about 3000 RPMs and seems like it needs a 6th gear. Is that normal for this car? Holy shit this fixed my issue. Have had high RPMS since i got my ZX. and couldnt figure it out. Not even resetting the idle could fix it. I loosened this bolt and batta bing it worked. I was about to fork out 50 bucks on an new air intake hose. |Sweet.
I’ve got a 2005 Honda Accord that’s revving high and sounds kinda rough but it hasn’t been started in a year, unfortunately the gas tank is full so if bad gas is a problem that’s a lot to take out. But no check engine light, but the brake lights on when it’s not… and there’s a red light right below the brake light. I think the previous owner installed some audio stuff and when they took it out it killed the audio inside the car and there was a hole in the roof to boot.
I got a 2006 acura tl. No codes. Rpm respond when applying the gas pedal. Speedometer doesn't want to go pass 30 mph. Struggled going up hill/ downhill. But after turning off engine and restarting car acts normal but after a few second it acts up again. I feel like it's transmission issues. But some say it could be your accelerator pedal position sensor causing all that symptoms. Let me know what's your thoughts. Greatly appreciate 😊
This is interesting 🤔 I have an 01 Honda Accord LX V6 and I just put in a 250 amp high output alternator from JS and as soon as I hit the key my rpms jumped to 3,000 rpms just like in this video. Am I experiencing the same issue? Is the computer registering for it to idle higher than it should from throttle screws needing an adjustment?
People love to hate new cars but good god the vacuum hoses and cables (not to mention plug wires, etc) up to around 2000 made the engine bay a mess and hard to work on. My '97 Taurus with the DOHC had to be halfway torn down to access the rear plugs or anything back there. From the early 2000s to now it's become so easy to access and replace major components that used to be a bitch. Comparing working on a 2012 Ford 3.7 to a 97 Duratec 3.0 is drastic and despite idiots claiming you need 'fancy scan tools', they're the exact same to diagnose with OBD-2.

I have a 2019 Kia forte ex. My car all of a sudden runs just under 2000 rpms at 100kmh and when i use cruise control it runs 2600/2700 rpms. Can a faulty spark plug cause that? Happened to me in my civic and it was bucking around Fortunately this only happens every so often but my dad says I can’t drive it regularly if I don’t get that fixed
My 2003 rsx starts kinda slow and goes up to 2000 rpm when i start it cold and drops dramatically when I put it in drive. But it only does that when it’s cold. When warm it starts right away. I also feel inconsistency in the pedal. Sometimes it’s sensitive and sometimes I gotta step hard when it comes accelerating. There’s no check engine light on though so I’m having trouble trying to figure out what the problem is. I’ve even took it to places and they can’t figure it out. Hopefully this fix works for me .
@Roman Barnet Did you fix yours? My 2002 was having RPMs going up above 1000 to about 1500 and then in a while going back to 1000rpms. It recently started to go off by itself when it idles or when I am waiting on the stop light. So annoying. Is it only me that I have to all the time find new solutions to my car's problems? I am having a similar problem with my 97 honda civic the wiper lever has been going a little rogue for about a year now... and it will become lose and the wipers will go and go back and forth. I cant keep any fluid in it either because it will spray it all out. It has been cold recently and it has been a little more agressive. I also noticed in the morning if I started my car to move it real quick (usually I let it warm up for 10 minutes) the breaks would'nt work and lock up. This has happened twice in the past month. Now today the spedometer is jumping all over the place while on my way to work. A check engine light has been on the entire time Ive had her, but now when I tried to go over 10mph she would blink. Not going to drive her, does anyone know anything? I feel like its a simple fix with a wire or something.
My 2011 kia optima is idling just fine but when I'm driving at even 25-35 miles an hour my rpms are in the near 3 - 4 ( tachometer ) nd feels like it's hesitant to excel. It's a turbo nd when I press on the gas it kinda just goes I don't have to work my way up to a certain speed but it's just felt off.
I just decide to start my Honda after 3 months. I turn the ignition on, car starts right up and runs for about 1 minute. Instead of letting the engine warm up, I put the car in reverse. Nothing happens. I put it back in park, then in reverse. I depress the gas pedal but don't get any power. So I press hard on the pedal to give it power. The car accelerated in reverse at about 60 miles an hour (snapped back). Hit the brakes and the car just continued to revv at high speeds. Put the car in drive without pressing the gas peddle and it sped right up in my driveway. The car is now in park but every time I turn it on, the engine is in acceleration mode and shakes violently. What gives?

Changed the crankshaft sensor and timing belt. Van was idling at 3K. At a loss as to why. Found your video and van is back in business.

I’m really hoping that this is the problem on my car. It has high rpm as well. When I shift into reverse and drive it jerks cause of the high idle.

Possible checking tps voltage? All the way up to swapping throttle body, idle relearn, code reset.... Maybe this helps

It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes it will really take off and idle fast and rough.

@@MRCALIEMS bro it ended up being my throttle cable was too tight, i just adjusted it and everything was fine

Does this work for a chevy s10 truck? My truck has a high rpm like in this video from when it sits for 3 hours or longer?? Great video 😀...PS: my dad is aware of high rpm and says it's fine..like fuck no it ain't! I owned a lot of cars and this rpm goes up to #3. Pls help. I don't mind changing it on my own but, I enjoy doing it 😊

Whenever i start my car first or second time its rpm always on high, i tried to fix it like u did, i goes lower but 3rd or 4th start shut off right bc rpm was way low, i m not getting this problem.

Electronic throttle don’t normally come with cables. The one that I know of, is on the Lexus

I am having a similar problem
with my 97 honda civic the wiper lever has been going a little rogue for about a year now... and it will become lose and the wipers will go and go back and forth. I cant keep any fluid in it either because it will spray it all out. It has been cold recently and it has been a little more agressive. I also noticed in the morning if I started my car to move it real quick (usually I let it warm up for 10 minutes) the breaks would'nt work and lock up. This has happened twice in the past month. Now today the spedometer is jumping all over the place while on my way to work. A check engine light has been on the entire time Ive had her, but now when I tried to go over 10mph she would blink. Not going to drive her, does anyone know anything? I feel like its a simple fix with a wire or something.

My 2011 kia optima is idling just fine but when I'm driving at even 25-35 miles an hour my rpms are in the near 3 - 4 ( tachometer ) nd feels like it's hesitant to excel. It's a turbo nd when I press on the gas it kinda just goes I don't have to work my way up to a certain speed but it's just felt off.

I just decide to start my Honda after 3 months. I turn the ignition on, car starts right up and runs for about 1 minute. Instead of letting the engine warm up, I put the car in reverse. Nothing happens. I put it back in park, then in reverse. I depress the gas pedal but don't get any power. So I press hard on the pedal to give it power. The car accelerated in reverse at about 60 miles an hour (snapped back). Hit the brakes and the car just continued to revv at high speeds. Put the car in drive without pressing the gas peddle and it sped right up in my driveway. The car is now in park but every time I turn it on, the engine is in acceleration mode and shakes violently. What gives?
My accord 2004 always ho high above 2000 on a cold start after.like 5 to 7 mins it returns to 1500 what can be the cause for this rpm
