@Parrotplayhouse Can I have my birds in their cages while I clean the cages with vinegar? My birds are difficult to get out of the cages, and I just want to make sure the vinegar is safe if they ingest or breathe in the vinegar. Thank you!!
@Parrot Playhouse April, is it harmful for birds to be in the cage while cleaning with vinegar? Also, I just got some bright, neon green microfiber "mitts" to clean cages, and my sun conure nips at them--he thinks I'm playing a game of chase with him! 😛😁
@@alohabirdie6697 I would make sure the mixture of water and vinegar didn't have a strong smell. Even though the solution is safe it can be strong and irritate if not diluted enough. I would also be careful not to spray the birds💚💚💚.
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel April, thank you for the tips!
Omg spraying the paper down with the solution is an absolute game changer. I’ve always done it the hard way. Fold up the papers, take it out the cage, dander and feathers flying everything, vacuuming it all while taking it to the garbage. Thank you 😂
I have to say, I love being able to take a cage outside and really soap it up, power wash it down, get it nice and squeaky clean and disinfected, and dry it out. I'll usually take that time to also soak/clean and dry everything that was inside the cage. Regular cleaning and wipedowns are very important but it just feels to me like the difference between a sponge bath and taking a nice long shower, if that makes sense. No matter how many times or how well I clean off the cage or perches, I feel like it's not as clean as that.
Yea I used to do that too before but now I have many more birds and much larger cage so it's not really easy to take it in and out over and over
Our cage doesn't fit through the door so not an option.
So lovely to see Victoria look so well now and happily enjoying her blueberry and as for Maui dunking his head in the water, absolutely priceless! thank you so much for allowing us to share your wonderful feathered family. Petal xx
Thank you Petal for following along our journey with us. 💚
We live in an extremely sunny and warm/hot climate, taking the cage out once a week and power washing the cages is very easy and really cleans every little nook and cranny. We are able to do that all year round, so it makes cleaning much easier. Great job on your cleaning routine, you are really diligent and a great bird Mom. Thanks for the tips.
I guess we can hug and kiss our cockatoos? I love my cockatoo so much. I think she just rolls her eyes like here we go! But then she says "I love you", so she doesn't mind. Thank you for the great ideas and the love you have for your little people with wings! Love
Thanks for the helpful cleaning reminders! I'm not 100 percent on this one so anyone who's knowledgeable please chime in - it's my understanding that since soap is more basic on the pH scale that it can neutralize the acidity of the vinegar making it less antimicrobial. If I have something to deep clean I'll use soap first and then vinegar second or just vinegar and skip the soap for less intensive cleaning.
FANTASTIC Video!!! This is exactly how I clean my houses! Vinegar & Water is all I clean with 💕 I have 21 houses to do 😱 I feel your pain 😉
Fantastic info 💕
I can't imagine 21 houses!!!!!! OMG!!!
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel just be thankful you're not me 😂😂😂
I am impressed. I didn't want to like this method as I'd been taking the big cage outside to clean for years. But, I used your exact ingredients and it worked like a charm. Slightly more elbow grease, but slightly less time. Added a toothbrush to the hard to get places. Props girl!
I will admit, I was just using those microfiber towels soaked and squeezed out to clean the cage, but I can see your way is much better. I will clean with a bucket, water, vinegar and a drop of the natural soap from now on. AND a mask. I wasn't using one either before. Thanks for taking the time to talk about this important topic. I have a cockatoo and she is all about dust. And poop. I do change out the newspaper twice a day. I didn't think to spritz it with the vinegar spray before removing. How smart is that???! I will do that from now on too.
I am so glad this video was helpful! Little tricks can make your life so much easier and your lungs stay healthy! Thank you for your comment.💚
Queen Victoria is so lovable 🥰💞
💙💙🕊💙🕊💙💙
Aww:) She is my sweet girl😊
I'm taking everything out of my bird cage and resetting the whole thing. New toys, New perches, old stuff in a different place, and cleaning. I hope it'll look good
I must be lazy as I am going to power wash my cages this weekend.
Power washing gets them very clean and I am surprised you call that being lazy. Of course they get spot cleaned regularly
I love power washing!
April, Traci from @loveyourparroteducation just made a wonderful video about How to power wash cages. I agree with Donna from @loveofpets as well! I don’t think that people who choose to power wash their cages are lazy. I like to take Angel cage outside and power wash it too. it gets real good clean. Lorikeet poop is a lot of poop and all over the place. Just FYI! Other than that cute video 😊🐦
Just make sure you sanitize the cages
I have a cockatoo who is a feather plucked too!!! Looks exactly like yours! She was a rescue and her name is Angel. Pawz up, claws out!
Wow. How you cleaned the bird cage was so nice.
What a good bird parent u are❣️💕👍🏻
mi loro siempre se pone feliz cuando escucha tus pajaros
¡Eso es muy lindo!😊
I love your video! Thank you!! Where did you get the long pink perch? Also, what kind of wood is that up by the dishes?
Thanks for sharing! We gotta keep our feathered guys safe😊omg Baby and Puffy in the bucket😍
Yes we do💚
I have bookmarked this--such a help!! I am about to change my parrot's cage--an eclectus--current cage is a California that is 4 by 3 by 5 feet--what brand cages do you use in the video? Many thanks.
It is very important to keep the cage's and aviary's clean, especially i.r.t. covid 19. In my country ( the Netherlands), is from time to time a minkbreeding infected with corona. Animals can also get infected. I don't know how that is with birds, but birds always carrie bacteriums with them, so you have to be careful. Interesting vid again, thank you for sharing.
Thank you this Is better than buying something like nature's miracle
Love your video! I was planning on getting a cockatiel soon and this really helped! 💙✨🌹
Fantastic! I am so happy for you. 💚
Love Baby and Puff monster..." cute" relationship. Also...no powder lubricant on any of my parrots.......mentioning it (dust) a good cautionary note April. People dont often think about practical stuff before getting a new pet.....
The Baby and Puffman are Bff's forever! Yes! Bird dust is a big deal! Thank you so much!!
Thank you. Great info. Victoria has the sweetest 'Too face.
Thank you so much for watching. VC is an angel😊
Great video! My bird cages have gotten really dirty while Ive been sick so this weekend we are going to take them apart and reset. I change the paper every day, vacuum every day, and change their food and water bowls too, but the plastic sides of the tray the cages sit in have gotten a bit caked with muck. You've inspired me to find the energy (and some help from my boyfriend) to give them a good scrub :)
We have the same Winix air
purifier... NICE JOB, APRIL!!!
It's a good one! Thank you Mikio💚
Someone donated it to SRR...
MISS YOU LOADS, APRIL!! 💚
Miss you too💚💚💚💚
Hi April thanks so much for the wonderful video.baby and puffy was so cute together.i clean my angel cage every day April.oh maui is so cute he loves water.Thomas is so cute.I enjoyed the video.we love you april have a blessed day with all of your birds
You are so welcome! We love you a bunch!
What kind wrapping you use for their perches ?
Hi--Not sure if you'll see this--I love your videos and they have helped me with my eclectus, who is a really messy bird... :-) His cage is old (bought in 2005) but right now buying a new one is delayed so your cleaning video is an immense help. A question: I would like to know what brand of cage your birds are in? I have scoured Amazon in preparation for when I am able to get Harry his new cage but either reviews are poor or cost is really high or most often, dimensions are too small, as I need 36 by 24 and over 60" high. If you have a recommmendation I would be so grateful. Thank you for these videos!
Hi april, newspapers are no longer getting delivered and we are getting a new bird soon. Would you think its ok if we used puppy pads? Or do you have another reccomendation?
Hi April,
Great video as always. And it's really good to see you upbeat! I have a couple of follow-up cleaning questions if you don't mind:
(1) Your DIY vinegar solution (distilled white vinegar and a drop of soap, right?): I assume having soap isn't a problem even for wiping down shreddable toys?
(2) You don't need to prepare fresh solution every time you use it, correct? How long can it stay in the bottle?
(3) I'll need to clean some caked on poop (mostly in the corners of the metal "skirt." Do you recommend pre-soaking these areas with your solution and/or Poop Off? I know I shouldn't have allowed this to happen but I have limited mobility and balance issues after an accident, so I had to cut corners, unfortunately.
Thanks so much! 👍🙏❤️
Yes to #1! You need a drop of soap. It helps remove the nasty with ease but leaves to soap suds behind.
#2 You do not need to remake a new solution. Just give it a shake when you use it. It will keep for months.
#3 The solution will remove the poop. Let it soak for 10 minutes if you have health issues. Clean a small part of the cage on different days. Please don't do it all at once. Happy Cleaning!
What does “natural soap” mean? I don’t have access to those brands in my country, do you have any tips on what to look for on soap labels to make sure the soap I’ll use for my birdies is safe?
Hi, I loved all of this and the part that you put in, " Don't need a gym" ha ha♥️👍👍🤣🤣
Right?! I need water breaks while cleaning!
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel she's just being nice x
I know what you mean. I have twelve budgies and two cockatiels along with three cats and one dog. They give me quite a workout. But I like their company they are just like little kids. No wonder animals are like us in more than one way. 😂
@@MotherNature101 i agree!!
Thank you for this! I just adopted a lovebird and her cage is filthy! But I’m wondering, can I use dawn dish soap instead of the myers?
Any idea which material should be used for bird cage tray? Which is less heavy and easy to clean but sturdy
Can I use any scent from Mrs Meyers?
Are cockatiels also very dusty? They are smaller and I'm considering having one or two but not more. Would they produce much dust?
You deserve more love 😘♥️
💚🙏🏼
Really Good for job girl 👍
Thank you! It means so much!💚
Thank you do much...this was so informative!!!
Thanks so much; this was very helpful!
Has anyone mentioned a quality Hepa Filter for bird room? Is it effective?
Just like chasing a toddler all day, no gym needed. lol ❤
So true!! Birds are little toddlers. I love you profile imagine on here too❤
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel It has her name too but it's hard to see on this small image.
I have a question I have an African grey that I got from a friend who just didn’t want it the problem is when I got him I tried feeding a variety of fruits/vegetables but he refuses when I asked my friend what was he providing the parrot he said he just gave him sunflower seed.
So i need your suggestion of how can i change his seed to pellet diet and what pellets or food do you suggest me to feed
You should UA-cam it! There are some great bird YTbers that explain it good such as Parrots playhouse obviously, birdtricks, live laugh birds, Marlene Mc’cohen and flock-talk. Also if you leave pellets or veggies and nothing else birds are very stubborn and will starve themselves so make sure to feed him the seeds. Every bird is different tho but never give up!!! Try giving him different types of pellets like brands and sizes. Some good brands are Tops parrots food, Zupreem, birdtricks pellets. Slowly but surely he will convert to pellets and veggies. You could also pretend to eat the pellets and veggies with him that really helps! NEVER feed your bird avocado, chocolate, alcohol, human food , unless it’s veggies, steamed rice, oatmeal. There are websites with list of no no’s for parrots! Watch a lot of bird videos and educate yourself :D! Make sure to take your bird to an avian vet as well! I’m happy for your new friend and I wish you guys the best of luck and make sure to enrich his life with love, toys, and healthy food and treats ofc!
Also very important never use cookware that contains pfoa “Teflon” in it! It’s super harmful and deadly for birds and their tiny body!!!!!
Birdtricks!!
Jo LR I love her channel!!!
This is everything you need to know on how to get your Grey off of seed and onto pellets. Try chopping veggies super fine and sprinkling over seed. The only thing it cant sit out amy linger than 3 hours. Let me know how it goes! Thank you for giving this precious life a good home. 💚

I enjoyed the video so much April!! Very informative and helpful. So good to see you and the birdies! Yes Victoria is the sweetest cockatoo ever. Baby loves to shower. Puffy and his messy beak! Who doesn't love Mr. Bueno? Hugs to you and your birdies! Love you! ♥️♥️♥️
Everyone loves Mr. Bueno!! It's funny because Thomas responds to Bueno as his name more than Thomas now. My neighbors must think I am crazy. Sometimes if he is screaming outside I will say Bueno stop screaming. LOL!
April, this was so helpful. So, one question... it should be *white vinegar? BTW I hope you heard me say, "YES" about hugging sweet Miss Victoria Cockatoo. I love all of your babies....💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘...
Not to be obvious, but YES. The label said white vinegar (distilled). All white vinegar is distilled. Rest easy. I suppose if you used apple cider vinegar, the place wouldn't implode, but the other kind (white) is less likely to grow stuff and is the kind you use for all-purpose house cleaning. Just read the label if you want more info.
@@WarmFuzzyVibes Thank you, very much...😁 BTW I knew it said while vinegar. I just wondered if there was anything wrong with using apple cider vinegar. I use organic
a.c.v.👍
Yes! White Vinegar is what I used and can be purchases at the grocery story for under 4 dollars!!
Thank you!
Hello. Hope I can get some help. I have cockatiels. I just want to ask how can I wash the fruits and vegetables we give to birds to get rid of pesticides and other stuff. Can I use vinegar, white or apple cider, for this purpose? If so, what are the proportions to use of vinegar to water? This is for non-organic produce. Thank you
I will pour 3 tablespoons white or apple cider vinegar in 4 cups of water. Let is soak for 10 minutes and rinse. Your veggies will be ready for your babies to eat!
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel Thank you for the quick response. I appreciate your feedback. One other question: I know white distilled vinegar is fine, but for the apple cider is it okay if it's not organic and if its distilled apple cider vinegar? I bought the organic raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar but would it still work with the other options?
Apple cider vinegar that isn't organic for cleaning veggies is fine.
Thank you!
I’m so sorry about Casey
Thank you ❤
Wish I found this sooner! I had been using vinegar & H20 in spray bottle & around house. My Quaker has excessively large amounts of Urates at times. Vet did not help. Just took my $. Time for new vet😡 Anyone have that problem?
Is distilled white vinegar the same as pure white vinegar? T
It is.
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel thank you so much for the fast reply! Deep cleaning tmrw! 😂😂
Have fun!😅
I dont understand why we use a mask to clean i get the powder settles and all that but then we snuggle our birds kiss them put our faces in their face and all that i mean are we not getting a bunch of powder in our lungs just from loving on them?
What cage is Victoria in and where is it from?
Hi :) I just can tell... You are amazing... I love the way you care for this lovely guys and everyone can see that it is love :)
I love the moment when you say "you know this and want to squeeze her" hahaha I know this moments tooooo good 💕 thanks for all your videos and I started to use this cleaner months ago when you already told how you made it in a video !!! TY
While ur cleaning the cage can u use a paper mask or a fabric mask? Or do u have to use the type of mask ur using?
Any mask will work!
What brand of bird cages do you have? I want to get a prevue cage but people say since it has so many parts it rusts easy. And I don’t want to spend $400 for a cage that’ll be rusted within a year.
how often should you clean the cage
Is this safe for Cockatiels?
The takeaway is to do in-between cleans for maintenance and a deep clean once a week.
Is this safe for budgies?
I only have one bird and its a gcc not much powder not like a cockatoo
I have a question. I accidentally fed my bird some potato chips he’s a Cockatiel and I’m just worried
He will be fine. Bet he loved them. They are to Salty for birdies.
😍👏👏
Thank you💚💚
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel you’re so welcome ☺️❤️
I just use vinegar and water
Nice!!
5:34 what is this and how is it helpful
Be sure to use free and Clear soap! Don't make the mistake I made.
Hi April it’s me Kassidy April you are the best can I have a shout out
Why does one of your birds live in a bucket? 😮
Hi gays
I am really surprised you would use any kind of soap at all. If that mix isn't rinsed off properly and the bird gets his tongue on it, that's not going to be a good experience. Seriously, just very hot water and a little vinegar should do the trick.
