When I clean my birds cage, I use 1/2 water 1/2 vinegar & few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle, I mist anywhere there is poop, wait 5 min & it comes off so easily with just a wipe of paper towel. Hope this helps!
I got a pet steam cleaner just for the bird cages. Sanitizes and completely removes bird debri and dander. I can get both cages cleaned in about an hour and they look brand new!
Oh my gosh this is gold!!! I never even thought about a pet steamer! Thank you so much you're genius this is something I can get off Amazon right? What brand is yours?
Yass!! I got the bissell powerfresh lift off pet steamer. Its orange and white and I got it on amazon. Since I got my quaker, Archie, ive been concerned with how I was going to move to a chemical free cleaning lifestyle but this steamer is amazing for floors, cages and even gets the berry splatter off the walls in seconds!!

Hey Birb Squad!! Thanks for hanging out with me as I clean my parrot's cage! All the info as far as what I use, the process, and everything you see on the cage is in my description box. If you have any questions or if you want to add some advice, leave me a comment below! Thanks so much you birbs are awesome!
I have two parrots and I have to clean their cage everyday but I love them so I dont care on most days ❤️ Btw I have a indian ringneck parrot and a dominican parrot
I think I have a similar, if not the same, cage and I just wheel the thing out back and hose it down. The poop absorbs the water and rinses right off. I use a brush, if it doesn't come off easy. If it's warm, I'll let it air dry. I use the vinegar to help clean the bowls and toys. I also bought a huge roll of parchment paper from Costco to line the cage. I can change that out easily on the daily. I finally took the seed catcher off of the cage. I think it's way easier to clean without it. Anyway, my green cheek takes daily baths in her water bowl. I was wondering how your birb does that if you use the water dispenser. I always thought those would be cool, if I was going to be gone for a day or two. Did it take them a little while to realize how to use it? And, I like your videos because you crack me up! Thanks for the honest proof of how messy birbs are.
That's a great idea but do you have any issues with it rusting? That's my only concern but I'm a ding dong and not sure if that type of metal rusts 😅 haha oh my gosh yes that is the only thing I can get him to take a bath in!! I've tried the sink, our bath, bird designed baths off amazon... Nothing! Has to be that dish lol it took a few days for mine to notice the water bottle but I noticed that when they were near it I would squeeze it so the water would come out. They put two and two together and realized oh the water comes out of here lol
I have a lorikeet and I’m struggling to keep him inside. He poops up all the walls, all over the floor. How can I keep the surrounding areas of my cage clean? I use a cage tidy but he climbs up the top to poop so that doesn’t help.
My grandma has a scarlet macaw and a miligold macaw(blue and gold and military). She changes the papers in the bottom once a week and spot cleans weekly. Then about twice a year power washes the whole thing. The cage is 6'x2'x6'.
@@VictoriaRyann yeah ...since my grandma is older they aren't held as much as when they were younger...they are 17 and 18 years old and she has had them since they were 10 days old
I have found the EASIEST BEST way to keep a cage....I use hand towels on the bottom...change every day...have 35 of them...wash 1 load in hot water. They scoop up and feathers and seeds just..dump right in outside garage can......2-3 minutes!!!!! A vet told me about it!!! it is GREWAT....never go back!!!
Hi! Don’t you think that it would be better if they had separate cages? To have their own territory... even birds that do very well together can get it pretty big fights... 🥺
I second this. No matter how great birds get along, having their own cage/space is very important... esp with different species. Just my opinion but you shouldn't be keeping them in the same cage for the long haul.
Thats definitely a good concern to have! Since my birds have a decent size cage, their personalities match well, and they aren't in their cage for long periods of time, they've been doing great so far and no signs of any issues. However, they are both still young and I'm keeping this thought in mind. I've got a couple cages picked out on amazon ready for check out if they get feisty with one another! lol thank you for bringing this up.
Your birds are so cute!! Ive been wanting a parakeet for so long, I had them in the past and recently ive been doing so much research for days, if only i could find a way to convince my mom 😂 I even have about 120$ for it which should be enough and she still says no
I’m getting my feather baby sometime this year and was just wondering if it’s okay to wipe down the cage with a wet sponge after using the vinegar. I’m not sure if the sponge is bad or not.
OMG!! I absolutely LOVE you!! Great video 💖 I wish I could do what you do. I have 20 cages 😱 I absolutely DRED cleaning 😷 I was so happy to see you used the vinegar! What I will suggest to you is to dilute the vineger with water. Put it in a spray bottle 🎉 So much easier. Again, this video was AWESOME! Great info!! BRAVO!
Thank you!!! LOL thats actually what I normally do. I put that on the screen at one point and in my description. Sorry for not elaborating more in the video. I think Emry ran off with my spray bottle 😂 but yes I totally agree. Thank you again I appreciate ya :)
BAHAHAHAHA Sharyn you just mad my day reading that. A birb is a cute wittle thing that enjoys head scritches and has a hooman slave. Like a typical bird but funnier and cuter making it a birb. Kind of like snakes are basic and ordinary but a snek is cutsie and noodley. Hope that helps ya 😂😂😂
Which birds tend to be cleaner? I already know lorikeets are super messy but are there birds that tend to be less messy? Bigger birds poop less often so you can train them go to perches when they need to go, right? - I'm still doing my research
Hm I would say the bigger the bird the bigger the mess. They might poop less frequently, but you have to expect good size droppings. Also, keep loose feathers and body dust in mind. Had Kakariki before and now lovebirds. Their size difference isn't huge, but the mess with lovebirds is more manageable
Luckily my birb is tiny and the cage bottom is plastic. So I just go outside with a hose and blast the entire bottom of it 😂. The white vinegar is amazinggg though for disinfecting! Soap is good also, but long-term effects exposed to soap I have no idea what it does to birds lol.
@@VictoriaRyann actually the cage you have is really nice!! Its probably better to wipe it down as you showed than soak it with water. Less chance of it rusting. ;P
I actually use them a lot! From everything that I've read and talking to vets I haven't had anyone tell me not to use them. I use more of fragrance free baby wipes than the poop off wipes. I'll use the poop off ones to get the dried poop off since they have enzymatic components to them that help break it down while baby wipes of course don't have that. But most other times I'll just use baby wipes.

I was just watching all of your videos about green cheeks since I’m considering getting one... if you didn’t have your child and we’re going to school/working part time and already had two dogs do you think you could still manage forming a strong bond with your birds? My frame of mind is interacting with a bird while I’m doing my day to day tasks around the house while I study/clean and trying to give it the proper attention it needs.
I would also of course clip the wings initially while it gets accumulated to the new environment it’s in. And make sure to slowly introduce the birds to dogs but not have them directly interact at qll
Oh yes definitely could do it! From talking to vets and researching online, they've all said at least 4 hours of time outside the cage with plenty of interaction and of course depending on the species could be more or less. But hearing 4 hours it may sound like oh dang I don't have that kind of time. With my birds, they hang out with me while I'm working, cleaning, or just hanging out with my family. Even though I don't have 4 hours to completely dedicate to only them, they get interaction from me during the day even when I'm focused on other things I still talk to them. The fact of them being with you, seeing you, talking to them, time out of their cage, and things constantly going on at my house with even a radio playing is great interaction for them. So yeah even though both of our situations sound somewhat different, we both have the same outlook and its been working great for my birds and I. Obviously I don't know everything that goes on in your life but I bet you would be fine from what you've told me. Especially if you've got a love for birds as well :) I hope that helps and sorry this was so long lol

Yay. My love birds are so clever, even with a grate 4 inches away from the paper tray one will flap their wings till the paper comes up and the other grabs the paper when it blows up. They are as smart as dolphins and whales. I like to leave the tv on all day with children's programs.
10:15 you missed a spot. 😝
IM STILL WAITING ON MY LUMBER TYCOON STATUE!!!!
Wow Victoria why don't you redo that purple in your hair. You be lookin like Barney took a tumble down a big ole mud pit.
