Even though this is sponsored, I honestly can't recommend enough getting a robot vacuum if you have birds. Seed and feathers and all the mess they make is such a pain to seek or vacuum every day. I have a robot vacuum and it's legitimately the best thing I've bought this year.

There pallets. seeds are unhealthy for birds that are domesticated and I know because I own lots of birds like budgies cockatiels eclectus parrots also but at the moment it’s only my cockatiel Luna

@@lifewithlaffy7931 they’re right. You shouldn’t suffocate your bird with seeds, but seeds are still important as birds do need a little bit of fat.

I keep 31 birds; 27 of them are finches of different species. Four of the birds are diamond doves. They are so messy! I am so grateful to watch this video. I was dreading doing an ultimate cleaning of my two large bird cages. I had decided I would need to take the birds out of the cages and do a pressure washing of the cages outside. Now after watching your video I realize I don’t have to go to that trouble and inconvenience for the birds. I am definitely going to invest in a Robo vacuum with the additional mop function. I already use the vinegar and water as well as the poop off cage cleaner that you featured. I also highly recommend and use natures miracle birdcage cleaner;it is fabulous. Even though I’m a few decades older than you are, really respect and appreciate your excellent bird care advice and will continue watching your videos for a long time. I may eventually get a parrot. Right now I don’t think I have the time to dedicate to one but it’s starting to look very favorable!

I’m from mexico and i always wanted a bird, but almost every single person that owns birds here just have them for their singing and sounds, and they don’t take good care of them and they keep them in really small cages:(
the other day i saw a man that kept two buddies in a rlly small cage outside in a tall tree, wish i would’ve taken a pic. My aunt has two cockatiels in a small round cage without proper care, and I wanted to get them so bad.
I finally managed to get two budgies a month ago in the flea market, and they honestly are scared but i’m still trying to get them to like me and thanks to you i’m learning more things because every bird deserves to be loved and should not live inside a small cage. Toys are really expensive but i just ordered some and i’m getting a big cage in christmas :) thanks for everything!!

    Consider these facts:
    1) Elle's great at training birds.
    2) Elle saying "of course, the birds are gonna want to help with the cleaning process."
    3) Birds do a great job of grooming themselves
    4) Bird seen in video meticulously removing food particles from atop the vacuum.
The obvious conclusion is that Elle should train the birds to clean their own cages. She could help them by providing them with vinegar and cute little sponges. Then of course the birds can turn on the robotic vacuum cleaner, using an app Elle has downloaded onto their cell phones.

But life of pets , you need to work through it all ! I am also longterm birb sitting an Amazon parrot. So that’s 6 cages I need to clean currently lol.
My favorite part is removing all the toys and perches from all the cages. Then plan out who gets what. For a variety of new stuff :D
I also have 2 free run rabbits. And the mess they make is insane lol. Rabbit and bird life is just a mess.

Cleaning 6 cages in 1 day is a lot! I'm in awe! I have Lyme Disease and can barely function so I've been putting off cleaning my 1 cage for my two albino parakeet sisters because I just don't have the strength. I'm a perfectionist though so I'm itching to give it a deep clean. Right now I just scrub out the bowls and scrape the perches, get rid of all the dust that accumulates from the food, etc. It needs a good washing though. Keep up the good work!

Nice to hear, you are also an animal lover like me and have all kinds of animals in the house and birds just like me.. I personally find the robot impractical, it does a bit on the open surfaces, but you just see straw and dust, and so on remain lying around and then especially the corners behind anda lot of dust and dirt remains between the cages. I prefer to do it with a vacuum cleaner. preferably exercise a lot and make sure everything is neat and clean and dust-free in every corner and spot every day. and mop after it. An air purifier machine is also very practical with birds in the house.❤ i love to see your videos and your sweet and positive vibes 🙏

The vacuum is amazing but to expensive so for those who cant get that roborock vacuum just get a handheld vacuum they work almost as great for picking up seeds and pellets!😉

Hi Elle, You're such a great help to me. I'm bringing home a Turquoise Conure baby soon and am loving all your suggestions. One thing I haven't seen you discuss is a bird cage light. I have an M&M light for the cage top and wonder if you think that's the best way to go? Also, should I use a small cage at first then switch, or start with what will be her permanent cage? She will be a real baby... Thanks SO much for existing on UA-cam.

I would start with a permanent cage, just prevents stress later on from having to assemble/spend more money on/adjust to a new cage. As for lights, it's really up to you! UVB light can be super beneficial for them for a few hours during the day.

Hello Elle! I need some advice because I am getting a bird as you have inspired me. I am getting a cockatiel and I need some advice on what I should get it. Here are my questions:
•How big should a cockatiels cage be, if you go to school?
    • What is the best blend I should give my bird?
    • How much toys should I put in the cage?
    • Can I harness train a cockatiel?
    • How much time should I spend with it?
    Thank you.

Hello! I'm not Elle, but I hope I can help :)
      1. At least 24x22 inches is good! The bigger, the better. If you'd like me to link some good cages, let me know.
      2. The best diet they can get is a mix of fresh foods (sprouts, veggies), grains (rice, seeds), herbs/spices, and natural pellets (TOP's, Harrison's, Roudybush). Elle has some pretty good chop videos you can use to base your blends off of!
      3. Preferably around 5 toys. You won't want to clutter up the cage too much, but you don't want a bare cage either (especially since you won't be at home as often). It's a balance.
      4. You can!
      5. Since you go to school, you'll want to spend a lot of time with your cockatiel the rest of the time! However, it's still important to listen to your cockatiel and respect it if it doesn't want to interact at that moment.

Thank you so much this is so useful... my kakarikis cage has been getting dirty recently because I dont know how to clean it. I got her 2 months ago and she is doing well, but in her old home (she was a rescue) she had a flight cage and a seperate smaller cage for sleeping. She would get really distressed if I took it away now, and i dont know waht to do. If anyone has any ideas then pls tell me

Sometimes we have to do what's best for our birds health, even if it's against what they're normally comfortable with. Cleaning is a top priority!

What do you mean take it away? The smaller cage to sleep or cleaning it? Of it wants to sleep in the small cage let it. You can also put it in there to clean the big cage. It must be cleaned regularly or it will get sick. If you cant or won't clean it then you shouldn't have it.

I clean by bird cage everyday so I don't have to do so many extreme washes. I normally wipe everything down overly well once a month. But I change out the paper every day, take wet paper towels and wipe off the grate everyday.
