I like to put on a small pot of simmering water on the stove with a vented lid, I add organic cinnamon sticks, brown sugar & a few drops of organic vanilla for baking. Makes the house smell so cozy & delicious! Reminds me of walking into my grandmother's house when I was little. Just make sure your birds don't have access to the stove so they don't get burned. Sorry I missed the live stream! Darn it!
You can also add organic orange or lemon peels with the cinnamon stick, makes kind of a fresh Christmas scent. If you google safe things to simmer for your parrots is awesome! When I got my birds a few years ago, I threw out every single thing that had chemicals. My one & only cleaning product I use is.. glass bottle with half water, half white vinegar & couple drops of dawn soap. It cleans greasy stove, mirrors, windows, bird poop, you name it! Also vinegar is a disinfectant. Win! Win!
Great information April! Keep up the good work. Birds respiratory systems are so delicate, it's important to know what scents to not use and what's safe to use.
April, thank you so much for this. I really LOVE these ideas. I worry so much about BJ-conure inhaling anything that will harm him. This has given me some great ideas! I cannot wait till next week for the cleaning info! I missed the live feed but still enjoyed this !!!! You’re awesome, April !!!!
I dont have birds but I'm excited to hear all the natural things to use besides all the candle etc things. Lol my #1 I used was those wax cubes. But it was the coffee that I loved. And makes sense, because if your buying perfumes, you will see jars with coffee beans yo smell between trying new fragrance. It sucks your allergic to lavender as I love it and collect fresh lavender each summer. It relaxes me. I sprinkle some on the rug and vacuum it up which leaves that lovely smell. WHAT on the nutmeg!!. I cant live without my nutmeg without on my rice pudding, not to mention it's that time of year where I use it in many Christmas baking. I would never realized it's not good for humans. I'm going to check that one out. I use baking soda for alot of things. As always your vidios are so educational April. 🎃🦜🐦👍😘💕.
One topic that I've never seen addressed is - what are commercial wooden bird toys coloured with? What colouring is safe to use for diy bird toys? I think you've touched on diy bird toys, as have several other of our favorite youtubers (hi Parrot Town!) but they always seems to use unpigmented components. Commercial toys are obviously brightly coloured (i see some in the background of this video even) so i would love it if you could use your influence to get real info on this topic. We all assume that the pigments are safe, but it would be great to know for sure.
Thanks for the info. Very informative. I do use spray on my hair and my bird sits on my head a lot. Is she still safe? It is dry when she does.. At times she does do a lot of dry sneezes but she is also next to a grey which is always giving off dust. You also have birds that are dusty birds near non dusty breeds.Do your non dusty breeds tolerate it or do they sneeze? I do not use air fresheners nor candles. How is Baby doing?
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel agreed 💯% Never try to save a few dollars on a cage, it's so worth it for you & your birds to just get the better quality. I order mine from Amazon so I can read reviews. Any reviews that mention rust, don't risk it! Hope this helps!
Hi. I have 4 budgies (parakeets) who live in the lounge exclusively. They do not go in any other rooms (there preference). I do vape in all rooms except the lounge and the hall without any harm to my budgies just FYI. Please note though, I am in the UK where there is strict regulations around vaping products and my flat is fairly large.
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel no thank you i work with a exotic vet and you are so right about all of it i clean with a steam cleaner and use vinegar with water too!!! Will also be trying the cinnamon for nice smell !! Again thank you !

I like my environment to smell consistently good. I have birds(3 parakeets and 1 cockatiel) and I don't use anything in my room. Can I make a air freshener spray with the cinnamon sticks, vanilla and water in a bottle to last longer or is that not safe for birds ??
Sadly I missed the livestream, but watching it now as I'm going to adopt soon or in the near future. You're one of the resources I look at for my bird researching. Thank you for providing useful information like these.
Thanks for trying to answer my question in the video also what i was asking like those cinnamon sticks you got there in that video and the baking soda and the vinger is it 100% safe to use around birds and i need suggestions on i should would be 100% safe for a diy infuser for my room that would be safe for my cockatiel polly?

*question about cleaning products* I live with my mom, who really believes that birds are just a regular pet and doesn’t need all the special care I always argue with her about. I don’t know if I could make her understand how serious it is but I really worry that cleaning the apartment with all of those cleaning products that has that toxic fumes when Chauko the bird is in the apartment , would it be safer if I ask my mom to put his cage in the open balcony while cleaning? this is kind of random but I live with OCD and I always have really bad thoughts of being afraid that my pets would die because they’re all I care about in life. any tips for cleaning??
Rust is dangerous and toxic for birds. I would throw it away and buy a new one. If you buy a used one make sure you completely sanitize the cage. Scrub with water and a small amount of bleach. Let sit for 20 minutes, then scrub with soap and water.
I missed your live today but I have a good reason... IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! Asking all my favourite UA-camrs to give me a shout out on Facebook... PLEASE TAG ME! ~Mikio 💚
I am no expert. I don't bother with perfume but I use Wild natural Deodorant. Wild has a range of natural scents. If I am going on a night out I will apply in the spots I would apply perfume. So it's stick directly to skin and I am not going to handle or be wiyj my budgies for some hours. I am presuming most bird owners where deodorant with no consequence for their birds. So, with that said, if you really like to wear perfume, I can't see why taking a little stick/roll on out with you and applying once out of the house perhaps minimally, and presuming you are going to be away from your birds for some hours, would be detrimental? Just a thought though 💭🤔. There is always the better safe than sorry argument 🤗
I use essential oil and I buy from young living but I just want to let everyone know that they only has to be 5% oil to say 100% please be very careful what you buy and use around your birds.

First thanks for the stream today it was very informative. I'm just curious about how long these do-it-yourself air fresheners usually work.

Parrot Playhouse I saw someone completely take the cage apart and use rust remover and repainted the cage , do you think that would be safe to do ?
What can I wash my floors with that will make my house smell good
What does the fumes from neighbors fireplace in Winter do to my cockatiel?
Will it be safe if I don’t put any oils in my diffuser just water for my bird

I'm so scared I had two birds died and now I'm so careful I need to know what cleaning supplies is best so I don't hurt my little
I am scared of putting on perfume. Am I correct in worrying about this?
Yep, i just don't use it. Their little lungs are just so much more efficient, i don't want to risk it.

Will it hurt my African grey
My diffuser is ok for my parakeets
In east Texas everyone uses da breeze and wax melts. I don’t know many people that have birds around here though. So that’s good🤷♀️
Can I use vinegar for my floors
You can use three parts water and 1 part vinegar to clean your floors. I use this mixture to clean everything including my cages.
AHHHHH I want a big bird soooo baddd!! I only have smaller birds rn like a cockatiel and two parakeets but I’m broke and I can’t buy one 😭👍
I need a good safe floor cleaner that smells good
Are plug in ok
Omg,Think this how my Quaker baby died.she was 15yrs old and I purchased a toilet freshener And within 3 days she died .Loved her like a child.☹️
