I had an African Grey. He was out of his cage to sleep. He loved staring at the light over the range. He stayed on his perch. He lovingly stared and then would go to sleep
My rainbow lorikeet only sleeps in his cage. during the day he’s with me all the time. It is great but just like a child you must watch them all the time, I’ll be composting and he wants to play, I’ll be hanging the washing and he’s scaling the line, I’m going to the toilet and he’s mimicking the noise of the wee lol! He just wants to be on my shoulder the entire day he’s the most energetic bird I’ve ever seen. When I am gardening he will dig in the dirt and sing he’s such a blessing. I can’t eat around him he wants to try everything I put in my mouth he is so curious. His poops are easy to clean and I just wipe it up ASAP, good to keep wipes near by. He has moments where the dogs bark may scare him and he can get really freaked out and bite but very rarely. He is so smart it’s unreal so much personality. I never knew birds could act the way he does and like the things he likes... he wants to wrestle with my hand he’s so amazing!
Trust me not having a cage is the best thing for Ringnecks as long as they have a time out stand They are obnoxiously Pig headed if they want out....no cage will stop them lol....and then comes the NOISE
Today my Indian Ringneck almost for the first time! Sure, he only put one foot on me, but still! It's progress! Everyone else out their having trouble with their bird: keep faith, I will be praying for you tonight!
My green cheek came home at the age of one and half. He was caged in a pet store whole life… I live in a studio so I thought it would be easy to have him cage free. He took my plant stand as his chill spot and had a sleeping spot that he also chose. He knows the one spot I don’t want him in and is respectful of that. He’s such a good boy.
Ive been trying to let my budgie out of the cage so he can get used to being out. He was very scared at first, kept flying whenever i moved a bit. Now hes a bit more chill and i dont have to tiptoe anymore. And he can fly back to his cage when he wants. Or i can lure him to my hand and direct him.
That's very sweet! My budgie came to me clipped from a pet store. I have to force her to come out of her cage but once she does it's a whole learning experience and she grows so much. Hurray for our budgies! The cutest, tiniest of parrots! ☺
Be patient. Your budgie will one day surprise you. Mine one day just flew and landed on my shoulder. It quickly progresses if you don't break his trust. I wish you many years of joy with your feathered friend.
Touché and lefty were my fav series. I got their pins..they are both so cute and with such amazing personalities. I totally would have adopted him, if I were in the states.
Can I say something contraversial that goes against everything you teach in relation to the Indian Ringneck? We had all the same struggles with our IRN as what I'm hearing from other people. Once I got him target trained, knew how to step up and a few tricks, I would slowly approach but swiftly put my hand over him and my thumb under his beak. It looks like my hands are around his neck but I'm only touching right under his beak. Then we would pet his head. He definitely didn't like it and he was freaked out at first. We would end it with a treat. After a week or two of doing that, we progressed to slowly putting our hands over him and just petting without putting my hand under his beak. A second or two at first and then longer and longer. Always followed with a treat. People say this is flooding but it didn't result in learned helplessness. Our bird flies to us now and seeks out our company. He's 1000% happier now than he used to me. He's still not 100% cool with petting he allows it on occasion without any complaint. This is what they do with Indian Ringnecks in Pakistan and India. They just hold them and pet them. It's flooding but for some God forsaken reason for IRN's it works. Indians and Pakistanis have been keeping these birds for thousands of years, so how can we say it's 100% wrong? It's a case-by-case basis for me and we gave it 5 months of target training on trust training only.
You know he's just there, listening lol Jokes apart. Ringnecks are difficult. They're the most challenging parrots. If you're a calm person go for Electus, they're beautiful, almost toy like appearance and very calm.
my 10 month old Ringneck is a free-range chicken. He had a big cage at first but i moved after 2 months and i found the space so awkward for his cage, so he has a beautiful big tree over an old upright piano with a few areas to explore. there's 3 border collies around who just watch him (never would touch, just herd!), and the ceiling fan never goes on, everyone is happy and no close calls. he is so clingy that if he's not on his tree, he's on my head or atop the curtains. a lot of cleanup but he he's so happy. The big cage is now at my boyfriend's parents place for when we're there, and he only ever goes in there in defiance at bedtime.
My cockatiel has a cage but the door is always open. He comes in and out as he pleases and he’s really happy about it. For unknown reasons, his flight feathers on his right wing stopped growing so he can’t fly well and he knows it so he doesn’t try and fly too far to get into any kind of trouble. When he wants attention or wants to move about with us, he lets us know with chirping and body language. He has a little perch that I put on an end table and he will chill with me for hours while I work too. He is 25 years old!
I have 30 birds that I have rescued and kept. Most were cage free at one point. My medium and large birds do great. Unfortunately I have found no matter how careful you set up a room the small birds tend to always find the oddest places to get stuck and eventually die. So my small birds are always in a huge cage for their safety.
I would add that another downside is that they're with you all the time. "you time" is limited. Sometimes I don't want a bird on me. One of my birds prefers to just chill in the same room as us but the other wants to be on us 24/7.
My Sammy is completely cageless. Birds dont see well at nite so a nite lite is a no no as shodows may make them take flight. which could be a death sentance. Quiet and dark from 10 to 5am. A garden jungle with a tree is also essential so they can learn to entertain themselves while im busy. A small plastic childs swimm pool works excellent filled with dirt and plants like basil, oregano, lettuce etc, and lots of toys. Love your channel
I have 2 amazons and they are free outside all day, i built 2 stands out of pvc pipe and a wire stand with cup holders that stands a little over 2 feet off the ground so they can't look for mischief when we step outside for a while aka climb down and bite wires, furniture, etc. They only go in a huge steel cage when we go out for the day and amazing they willingly get in the cage themselves lol they seem to understand when we are going out and it's like they know it's for protection because after a day of chilling outside they go inside the cage to sleep, then back on the stands at mornings.
I have to say my talking budgie is the best of both worlds - open door cage. He loves to chill in his cage but will come out often and the second you call him. He goes in it by himself at night and I close it for safety if I have workers over or if I want to sleep in 😬 It’s next to a window where he cheerfully eats his food and watches the outdoor birds soar.
I have no idea how I stumbled on your videos, left UA-cam on auto play, woke up your videos were on. I have never wanted a bird before, but 4 of your videos later, think a bird would be pretty cool lol.
Glad you found us!! Just don't take that decision lightly... Birds are very high maintenance pet, they are the 3rd most popular pet and the number 1 most rehomed for a reason.
My three IRN's had a huge cage in my family room for a couple of years and would never go in it even when I encourged them to use it. So out went the big cage and my husband built them a huge play centre where the cage was and they happily play and sleep there, cageless. It's full of toys and ropes and gum branches. They really love that area but are free to use the whole kitchen family area. With cooking we wait until they settle down to their play area for the night which is just before dark, they put themselves to bed now. I'm use to chopping veggies with them having their share whilst I chop, but the stove doesn't go on until they are settled into their sleep area. Yes the mess is huge but kept in the one area of the house and there are plenty of people to help clean, it's not just one persons job. My husband has started bird proofing the outside patio for spring and summer her in Australia, so I'll see if they like it out there for short periods supervised during the day.
Each of your entrances and your exits of your house should have a vestibule or what we call in corrections the sallyport. It would help with your cooling or your healing of your home but most of all, it also cut down on birds accidentally getting outside.
I just adopted(2 days ago!) a beautiful female ring neck. I had one years and years ago. I saw Loki was available at a shelter and went to get her. I will mention this regarding sleep. I did not have the cage ready so she is free flight with just the travel cage. ( new one will be here tomorrow) but I love my birds free flight. But really I noticed the first two days getting to know her… she really seemed upset and was trying to tell me something…I realized oh my she is probably really tired! I live alone and keep any hours…but forgot just did not think about it…I think the previous owners had her rather scheduled… so I turned out the lights with just a tv on. She calmed down immediately and she flew onto my shoulder I was so happy I have not been pushing her to be too close I am letting her come to me…I have been taking to her which she loves. Her previous owners who left her at the shelter said she was really biting them and they slapped her…oh my. I was expecting her to be terrorized. She is not too terrified…tho is nervous about my hands but is so wonderful! Adopting her was great for both of us and we seem to understand each other very well. She is a joy. ❤ I am planning on major no cage. But there is one important issue regarding that. I had a few fires in my apt building. I had a ring neck and a parakeet. They were not in their cages of course but we had to leave immediately and there was no time to catch them. Firemen actually broke windows etc. Fortunately neither of my birds flew out the windows…but the bigger bird was fine but coughing from smoke but our little Linden almost did not make it. Smoke almost took her out. 😢 She pulled through but almost did not. Sorry this is long but these were major issues to give thought too.
My birds are cageless and they are so much happier having the choice to be where they want, I do currently have them limited to one room though as my budgie hasn't been recall trained yet!
When we bought our ringnecks we knew that they will require a lot of training and effort. So far they don't even allow us to get close to them, and forget about hands, my gosh, hands are like snakes to them. We've gotten them 2 weeks ago, so far the progress we made is that they'll allow us to get within arms reach of the cage if we walk real slow, most of the time. Eating anything off of our hands? "Better wait a while before we eat"
I’ve been working with my Conure for over a year, and he just doesn’t like any treats enough to want to do tricks or really listen. I’ve watched your channel for ideas and tips, but he is so picky. It seems like ever since I let his wings grow out and he can fly, he has no interest in training. I refuse to clip them though.
Diet? Fresh feeding system! Enough dark uninterrupted sleep? No cage in rooms, at sleeping time, with noise, tv, conversations. I know, it sounds so basic. It's true though. I saw a difference in my budgie. I can only imagine how much more important it is the larger the bird. Best of luck
Indian Ring Necks are one of the most adorable creatures on the planet. I've been fascinated with parrots for a long time but I always told myself I'd have to settle for living vicariously through others. My living arrangements and schedule and current overall lifestyle simply won't permit owning a bird like this, and I'm completely fine with that. However, every IRN parrot video makes me wanna buckle on that decision and go run out and try to adopt one. It's not gonna happen, but perhaps one day.
I love my IRN but I don't think they should be pet birds. My vet said my IRN is the most tame he has ever seen and I still think he is crazy and harder to handle compared to my other two parrots. The talking is cute but it's really not worth it. Videos on the internet cause problems because people think its really cute. But please know that IRNs bite, scream and fly a lot. Even my really tame and well handled one. And they turn wild very quickly if you don't handle them. You have to be ready for bites that draw blood and they really hurt. If you have never had a parrot before I strongly advise to go for an easier first bird. And do lots of research. :) Every species will have good and bad, and not all birds from the same species are the same.
Can you put a content on how you clean bird poop as that most difficult part for me my birds are always free in my home and the toughest is the cleaning
@BirdTricks Touche is absolutely adorable! I love the way he just stares at you while you're talking 🥰 I'm so happy he's in your home & so hope he'll be staying, he has such an awesome life with you & your precious family ♥️ oh! Are there videos or books you can recommend to me that will help me in learning to train my new baby? Yes, I know what most ppl say about the INR's but I've thought about it over and over and always come back to this one. I'm willing to put the time in that is required, I HAVE the time & will be home daily with him & most importantly, I don't just "give up or get tired" of my animals. I would appreciate any direction you could give me to help insure this lil guy has a great life with myself & my husband 😁
Mine have many large cages, perches and toys all over the house, they are in and out all day. They even have perches in the showers. They tend to like the cage for after meals when they are feeling sleepy.
My Alexandrine stayed out of his cage all day unless he chose to go inside... but at bed time when he wanted to go to bed, he made it clear to us he wanted the cage covered. Oh i miss that sweet bird.
Oh yeah the mess is real. I have 4 kakarikis that are almost cageless most of the time. They don't even sleep in the cage unless they want to but sometimes i just have to have them in a cage for a while to take a day off XD. The kakarikis just love flying so much that i feel bad if they don't get the space to fly around, hopefully someday I can get a bigger house and have them free in their own room all the time.
I had an alexandrine parrot . Kinda two but idk if you could call the first one mine .. 1) cz she flew and came to our balcony one day and we fed her . She used to come everyday and used to sleep in a tree in the balcony ..we named her chilli cz she like chillies . Lol . she also used to come inside our home and sit on the sofa and explore 😂 my parents had to release her somewhere far because someone in our building was capturing her again and again. Even once they came to our home and took her away .I was a kid ao i couldn't do anything but i was so mad ! She freed herself from that cage twice tho .. and uhm my sis and i were told that she flew away and didnt come back .. we didnt know the truth until a while and I was so upset :( 2) The second parrot also flew and came to us about a year or two later the first one... he lived with us cz he didnt know the way to our home .. he flew away accidentally sometimes and we had to bring him back .. and yes he wanted to stay with us . I know that because we kept him a different balcony which is of a shape of a cage .. with like pigeon net.. so he could stay there .. we put wood perches and stuff ... but he always wanted to be with us inside the house .. and he used to walk around here and there instead of even flying 😂 he loved food . Like whenever we used to eat he used to come below the table where theres an area to keep stuff . We had put paper there for him to sit . And he loved icecream. He also used to sit in our balcony that's open .. without net where the first parrot came earlier ... and then he used to come back inside... his name was charlie and he loved to be around my dad ALL THE TIME XD Unfortunately , one day he flew away bcz we had painting work goin on and he was in that open balcony .. a painter went outside to keep something and he was covered in paint so Charlie got scared and flew away . And he didnt know the way to come back so he couldnt come back . Also I told my parents to go look for him right away! But they didn cz the work was going on or something and I got so sad . Later we did try to find him but it was too late .. we didnt know where he was by then .. I just hope both Chilli, and Charlie are safe somewhere and I always think about how it would have been awesome if they both stayed with us .. they could've met .. but well cant do anything now .. so I just hope they're safe and happy ❤ (Also sorry for such long paragraphs I just felt like writing about them here 😊)
I am fostering a 6 year old ringneck who was born with one leg and has some minor deformities with his remaining foot. When I got him he looked pretty bad and is extremely afraid of everything. Do you have any tips or tricks for trying to tame a disabled and frightened bird? He also cannot fly right now, hopefully when he molts his wings will grow back and he will learn to fly.
I know this post is kind of old, but I thought I'd reply anyway. Jamie has a video about fearful or phobic birds; she used an African Grey. It's very good. You can just look through their list of videos for it. We have a handfed young male IRN who turned into a raptor when we took him home. He bit is every time we tried to touch him. We were really at a loss as to what to do, then while I was watching one of Dave and Jamie's master classes, they suggested to someone that every time they pass by the bird cage or stand, they just drop a treat into a bowl and keep walking. Then you increase the amount of time you spend by the cage until the bird is comfortable with you. We tried it, and he is like a different bird! He is VERY food-motivated, and is turning out to be a breeze to train. Just find something your bird loves, and use that. I hope things are going better with your foster.
I have been watching you for the past 3 months I am new to UA-cam! I have learned so many great things, and with time my Sun Conure will be on the pellet system....... I have made many mistakes with her food...... Oh boy!! However I have a suggestion for you........... I never lock Sweetie in her cage she is free to come in and out as she please...... But around 6pm she comes and has a cuddle with me on the couch and when she is tired she walks to the end of the couch and flutters (after your videos I have stopped trimming her wings) I then pick her up and she has a medium box with a very soft blanket that she sleeps in!! She loves it in there. It is like her own room! When she goes in I put a towel down over the opening so if she need to she can come out! You can educate me if I doing wrong by that........... But I am hoping it a good tip for you since I have gotten so many many valuable tips from you!! Take care
I'd be afraid the box would stimulate egg laying. My green cheek conure is free most if the day. I have worked hard to make his cage a place he likes to be and I have trained going in to the cage as a trick for his very favorite treat. Often I don't even need to ask him to go in because he spends quite a bit of time playing in there. All I have to do is close the door if I need him to stay.
@@Ansonidak Thank you I did not think of that, it been our routine for quite a while now! Yes Sweetie does like her cage too, Especially when she got a new round cotton toy...... for the next 2 weeks she did not want anything but her cage and would cling to her toy all so happy!
@@juliusroman8616 I will have to read up on this to educate myself more. Thank you. I have always been a cat person.......... I KNOW~~ However regardless of the pet I am a cradle to the grave and need to read much more!
I have an Indian ringneck, and lets just say it isn't easy. I trained Him to sit on top of his cage, so he's ALWAYS cageless, including at night, and when I'm not in the house.
My rainbow lorikeet started off with just a basket as his perch and toilet but he seemed insecure when he was home alone. He hides behind sofas and TVs where all the electronic wire are. So, we got him a cage but leave the door open at all times and he is more comfortable
It was @BirdTricks videos on clicker training to say words /phrases on command that got me to teach my conure to say two words (with hand sign cue) . He learned each one in about an hour, two days a part. Parrots are SO smart ,and catch on so fast! He is almost 5, but already knew spin and roll over from when he was under a year of age. Now he also can say two words on command.
I may be a new Ringneck owner, but I've kept birds for many years and Jack Russell Terriers for 25 years (smartest dogs alive) and teaching animal behaviors is pretty universal. Why you should NOT keep any larger birds cageless 1) Their poop is almost caustic, I will sometimes use an old credit card just to scrape it off our wood floors as even 409 doesn't clean it up easily. Unless you have no carpets and don't mind scraping up poop that requires real scrubbing, don't let them be cageless 2) They need to feel secure to rest properly, and that means not keeping them cageless, who's house is quiet for 12 hours daily? 3) Every animal is easier to train when you control the environment where they live.
Great video as always. I learn so much from you! I have a 1 year old Caique, Lucy. I work from home so she is cageless for a majority of the day. It can be high stress because she gets into things even though I felt like I parrot proofed them, so she has to be watched closely. The positive is we get a lot of great bonding throughout the day, the biggest negative is that when I leave the room or cage her, she gets stressed and sometimes screams until she can see me again. It isn't bad and because of your video with Widget, I learned from you and am working on the occasional screaming. Thank you for all you and Dave do to educate people with birds!
When you leave the room tell rhe bird 2here your going. I always say I'm going upstairs and wait till my bird says OK & my name. He's calm. IF I leave the room and don't tell him, he freaks like what happened? Is she OK? Did something get her. Don't worry bird will learn the names by hearing you in that room. Stopped the panic screaming. I also make sure I tell him I'm going out so he knows. He always waves and says OK bye bye. I even say I'm going night night now. He says that and bye to me.
Mine likes to be out of his cage all the time, except for when he goes to sleep. They can’t stand being locked in a cage for too long, it’s just their nature. They’re strong willed, independent birds with inquisitive personalities. Bonding with these gorgeous birds is a beautiful experience, but not for the feint of heart. They will taste your blood sooner or later. 😈🦜
Im looking after one I caught one about 6 weeks ago. It’s Someone’s escaped bird that had been living free for a couple of month getting fed bread etc between neighbours. No owner has been found. The first time I put my hand out flat to offer food in the cage it struck like a viper and drew blood 🩸 Now it steps up, using beak first, to come out of the cage each morning and runs up to my shoulder. Doesn’t want to be touched. The one I lost loved being scratched around the “ears” and would eye pin and coo at me.
my grey has a cage to play chill and sleep shes free to fly if she wants its never locked but you know what she loves that cage so much she dont fly much only when something spooks her one day i hope to have her fly to me when asked to do so but shes happy where she is only problem is the summer my home gets hot and i cant open the windows as she may fly out of one given the chance
Wouldn't mosquitoe nets for your windows be an option so they won't fly out? I don't know wether or not they are safe or if you mentioned them before but I think it could be a solution.
If I worked from home my pineapple green cheek conure would only need a sleep cage but I work all day so she has a giant cage and she gets about 4 hours everyday night with me and all weekend long she out with me outside in the house when I go away she always with me I love my bird
We have an Eclectus male here in Aust that is free in the house and allowed out in the late afternoon. We here given a male ringneck 7 months ago. He'd been in a cage for 6 years. He's now free in the house but sleeps in a large cage at night. He's just too much to have free 24 hrs. He is allowed out and flies with the wild birds now, nothing can catch him, he's super fast and chases the rainbow lories that we feed. He sure gets wound up at times too not like our Ecky. I would not recommend a ringneck as a first bird. He also likes to chase your feet when you go for a walk.
Interesting concept..my budgies and gcc are out from 9-9. I recently rescued a g2. I've had her??? a month. At first she wouldn't leave her cage, either in it or on it. If I left the room she would venture off and terrorize the others and when I came back in the room she would hurry and fly back to her cage looking all innocent..lol. Always slept in her cage. Now you can't pay her to get in her cage so she's sleeping on top???. She takes naps in the daytime.
My burb does shake with his paw, wave with his wings, and kiss kiss, and he makes clicking sounds with his beak, and wave with his paw, and show me the wings where he spreads them out
1 geen cheek conure..1 Indian ring neck..none clipped...always out when we are home ..sometimes even for a few hours on their own for 1-2 hours if I step out and feel that's they can be trusted, they are very smart and mischievous..they are aware of your going and coming.
My daughter keeps a parrotlet free run of her bedroom and he puts himself to sleep in his "sleep/travel cage" He is a little stinker though and will "defend" the area. I found that when we did that (Had the conure Kevin out Aaaaaaallllll day long) he turns into a territorial Brat. So he gets lots of outside cage time , just not allllllll lday long non stop. We have to take turns handling him, as well as recall training, and trick training to keep him from focusing too much on one single person.
I would really love to see the logistics of showering with your bird. Do you spray them or splash them? Is it just the mist that gives them the bath? Not knowing how it's done and trying could be fear inducing.
My African Grey was afraid of water. He didn't like getting misted but loved water in a pan to play in and splash his feathers. My other bird takes baths with me. He starts out on cabinet door while I get bath ready. If he wants to come over then he will climb over my leg to the spigot. I check water temp and it's not full on. He usually gets drenched. I blow dry him on warm with dryer 2ft away from him. Checking temp often. He doesn't like in his face. Who would. But stretches out his wings. And on chest.
You can buy a shower perch that sticks to the wall or allow the bird to perch on your finger arm shoulders et al. Just start out with them in the room, if they seem calm, bring them into the shower. They will often just sit and allow a few splashes to get them. They will run up your arm or fly onto the shower head if uninterested. If they seem calm, happy and appreciative of the water, you can gently splash them and see how you go. My guy will close his eyes and soak it up, if he's not in the mood, he will hide under my hair or fly onto my head. Hope this helps. Good luck!
@@2Ryled I would exercise caution with blow dryers as some of them have coatings that can be toxic to the bird. They don’t use blow dryers in the wild... If it works for you two, keep it up.
My ringneck goes on top of the curtains when i let him out of the cage. He wouldn’t come down until he’s hungry and after a few bites he climbs back there out of reach.
Your UA-cam channel/business is brilliant and I'm sure you hear this all the time but we LOVE keeping up with you and the flock! You never leave anything out and you're really setting up a good world for domesticated birbs in the future by doing what you're doing. Thanks BirdTricks
my ringnecked has a stand bc he HATES his cage we literally have to be careful with our 6 budgies bc one of them ALWAYS flies but he is kinda blind so we really have to be careful
I have 2 Indian Ringneck parrots a male and a female. They are both VERY scared and I’m trying to tame them, just so I can at least have them sit on my finger without flying and flapping around the cage trying to get away from me. 😔 I have googled and searched videos on how to tame them- but the only videos and info I seem to find is already tamed birds who want to teach them to either eat from their hands and teach them a trick. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it!
My Green Cheek's cage door gets left open 99% of the time. I only shut it when I have guests or when he needs a time out. I trained him to understand that he's allowed on the cage, playstand, and kitchen cabinets (and to stay in the kitchen/living room when unsupervised). There's nothing stimulating on the cabinets, he just flies up there and back again for exercise (so kitchen poop is rare). My trick with the playstand is to buy square playstands with seed catchers, then extend the catcher's range with empty cereal boxes.
When i got my 1st 2 indian ringnecks i didnt put them in cages because i dont like locking them up and let them sleep on thier ropes i hung but i wish i would of got them used to sleeping in them because they somtimes get spooked at night and have had some close calls. They have to have a nightlight and the room has to not have much for them to fly into. Im working on getting them used to going in thier cages its not worth loosing my babys
we have to cage our bird at night cause thee are lot of cats wandering around even some dogs that can hop and grab my precoius one , so we trained him to go climb a tree chew some leaf wander around the house and always be under furnitures when wandering around the house cause anybody mistakenly can step on them and that can be disheartening.
Indeed they do learn what we say.. I found out my irn was just being a bratty teenager when he started doing the same gesture of banging his beak on the cage and saying “here”. Which is what we do frustratingly trying to get him to come to us. Banging our finger were we would like him to be and saying “here”. Only he was using it on us… and it worked………. So we knew straight away he understood he just didn’t want to oblige…. Unlike us who are always awaiting the time to be approved by birb god. Silly ball of feathers
Hi loving your videos… I just got a untamed IRN home and just wondering why the bird is not making any noise since it’s her second day at home & also wondering what you use as a treat when you train them? TIA
What aviary did you find for Blueberry? I know she's too small to go in the aviarys with wider bar spacing. We have a Prevue Hendrix for Angel but I would love a bigger aviary for her.
I saved 2 from around 2 years ,very scared,,I,m doing my best,,I have a kakariki that is a bit trained,I hope I can do well whit them,my kakariki flies 1 our a day free
My baby parrot of the same species lets us pet him, but he doesn't understand how to get on our hands yet. Idk how to train him to do that, i mean i know i have to use his favorite treats but i got this guy like 3 days ago. And its 2 months old. He even has a hard time of breaking down semi hard foods. (I thought his beak would be sharp but maybe because he's a baby it's not?). Thankfully he knows to poop in the cage only (we did not teach him that). He only poops outside when he gets mad. 😢. And he's totally okay with letting multiple people pet him when he's sleepy. When it's hungry he ends up acting wild again, so we have to pet him to get him to relax and not continuously bite our fingers.
Our birds are out until they need to sleep or we have to leave. Part of the family. 😊
Same!!
Same!
Same! I only put them back in the cage if we have to leave the house.
I have an Indian Ringneck and a Gcc 😊
My cockatiel is also free all the time
I had an African Grey.
How did you prevent him from flying! I have a young ringneck which I'm training, but the flying is a concern for ne
You might not have wings like your birds but you are an angel. The work that you do for these little guys is priceless ♡
When you were talking about the mess, Touché was listening & looking at you like “you say that like it’s a bad thing.” Touché, touché.
@@ollievendor7413 I hate that they clip the budgies at the pet store Birbs supposed to fly bee like cutting feet off Hooman. 👉🕊🐣🐥🐤🐦
@@FredTheLutinoCocatiel should I let the seller
Be patient. Your budgie will one day surprise you. Mine one day just flew and landed on my shoulder. It quickly progresses if you don't break his trust. I wish you many years of joy with your feathered friend.
@@tamarapace3036 omg yes. Now my budgie lands on me sometimes to get treats. He sometimes pick the strangest places tho like my feet
You know he's just there, listening lol
Jokes apart. Ringnecks are difficult. They're the most challenging parrots. If you're a calm person go for Electus, they're beautiful, almost toy like appearance and very calm.
My mom had an Indian ringneck parrot 🦜 very similar to yours- He lined 33 years!! He said ‘Hello’ & ‘Talk to me’ and he whistled charge!!
Thank you for bringing this story back to UA-cam!
Your welcome 🥰 Thanks for watching!
Your such an expert when it comes to birds, I have leant a lot from your videos.
my 10 month old Ringneck is a free-range chicken.
This is my FAVE parrot. I love them!
Same!!! Their weird little personalities are so much fun, they're gorgeous, and if they talk, that's just a bonus.
I have 4 budgies who behave similarly.
WOW, Touche has come so far from last I saw you both. Amazing !
@@BirdTricks no worries, no plans on getting one, just never realized how much personality they had till saw your videos that is..

Sounds like a great setup! Shame we can't post pictures here, I'd love to see it.
I'm getting ready to do the same! My boy has a huge beautiful condo type cage and uses it only for sleep so we are doing the same 😂
I love the slow approach in the beginning, so hilarious 😂
Each of your entrances and your exits of your house should have a vestibule or what we call in corrections the sallyport. It would help with your cooling or your healing of your home but most of all, it also cut down on birds accidentally getting outside.
Thank you for sharing! It's so amazing to see their progress! 🤩🥰💜💯
You did a great job with both of them. Its nice to see them again
Precious. I love the noises they make.
It can take even a year to build trust.
You two bonded so well so beautiful to watch
We are pro cageless for our babies but we do have cages that they use when it is bed time but otherwise they are out and about as part of the family 🥰
No not all of them. You're teaching me so much.
So happy to get the notification. I know its a bit late. Thank you very much for uploading😄👍
People who abandon birds, dont deserve any birds or animals in their lives
All your Birds are adorable
I had an alexandrine parrot . Kinda two but idk if you could call the first one mine ..
1) cz she flew and came to our balcony one day and we fed her . She used to come everyday and used to sleep in a tree in the balcony ..we named her chilli cz she like chillies . Lol . she also used to come inside our home and sit on the sofa and explore 😂 my parents had to release her somewhere far because someone in our building was capturing her again and again. Even once they came to our home and took her away .I was a kid ao i couldn't do anything but i was so mad ! She freed herself from that cage twice tho .. and uhm my sis and i were told that she flew away and didnt come back .. we didnt know the truth until a while and I was so upset :(
2) The second parrot also flew and came to us about a year or two later the first one... he lived with us cz he didnt know the way to our home .. he flew away accidentally sometimes and we had to bring him back .. and yes he wanted to stay with us . He also used to sit in our balcony that's open .. without net where the first parrot came earlier ... and then he used to come back inside... his name was charlie and he loved to be around my dad ALL THE TIME XD
Unfortunately , one day he flew away bcz we had painting work goin on and he was in that open balcony .. a painter went outside to keep something and he was covered in paint so Charlie got scared and flew away . And he didnt know the way to come back so he couldnt come back . Also I told my parents to go look for him right away! But they didn cz the work was going on or something and I got so sad . Later we did try to find him but it was too late .. we didnt know where he was by then ..
I just hope both Chilli, and Charlie are safe somewhere and I always think about how it would have been awesome if they both stayed with us .. they could've met .. but well cant do anything now .. so I just hope they're safe and happy ❤
(Also sorry for such long paragraphs I just felt like writing about them here 😊)
That little voice!!! SO CUTE!
He is so interested in what you're saying. Btw you inspire me so much. I wish I could do this. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My indian ringneck and 2 cockatiels are out of their cages 24/7.
It's messy but I like that they are as free as possible in my home.
The soft fabric might invoke nesting behavior.
I don't think I'd be able to let my boy out without constant supervision, or he'll go and destroy literally everything he can get his beak on
Mine chewed my computer mouse wheel, watch band, and phone case. The most expensive was biting holes into the tubing for my sleep apnoea machine!
Do you also train boyfriends? jk love your videos thank you!
My grey parrot is 33 been uncaged 27 years.
Wow
Get a basket with foot toys. Purchase it neat you so burb can play and you watch
You’re so amazing with birds… I’ve really learned some great tricks
Mine likes to be out of his cage all the time, except for when he goes to sleep. They can’t stand being locked in a cage for too long, it’s just their nature. They’re strong willed, independent birds with inquisitive personalities. Bonding with these gorgeous birds is a beautiful experience, but not for the feint of heart. They will taste your blood sooner or later. 😈🦜
Im looking after one I caught one about 6 weeks ago. It’s Someone’s escaped bird that had been living free for a couple of month getting fed bread etc between neighbours. No owner has been found. The first time I put my hand out flat to offer food in the cage it struck like a viper and drew blood 🩸
Now it steps up, using beak first, to come out of the cage each morning and runs up to my shoulder.
They're both so cute
Wouldn't mosquitoe nets for your windows be an option so they won't fly out? I don't know wether or not they are safe or if you mentioned them before but I think it could be a solution.
It's really cool that they can fly too unlike most people cut their wings or use chains
Brilliant.
My birds only sleep in a cage , I never close the door.
Caged birds should be illegal in all countries.
Birds have a sense where they know when they are being observed, even when you are out of their range of vision.
Have you noticed this?
Aww your birds are so cute !☺️
You are amazing. I am captivated
Naughty bird
What’s a g2?
My burb does shake with his paw, wave with his wings, and kiss kiss, and he makes clicking sounds with his beak, and wave with his paw, and show me the wings where he spreads them out
Dang that part with touche going on capris arm. My bird would of bit the shit out of me before going on my arm for a treat.mao
1 geen cheek conure..1 Indian ring neck..none clipped...always out when we are home ..sometimes even for a few hours on their own for 1-2 hours if I step out and feel that's they can be trusted, they are very smart and mischievous..they are aware of your going and coming.
My OWA is completely cage free. He puts himself on his cage at 9ish and stays there until 730 am and he does great
My daughter keeps a parrotlet free run of her bedroom and he puts himself to sleep in his "sleep/travel cage" He is a little stinker though and will "defend" the area.
Indian ringnecks are so cute
Lol you don’t have a cage for him? Well I think he likes it 😂😂😂
LoL
My budgies and kakariki cageless 😊 they love to spend all day with me in my office room
Would you recommend frequently changed bird diapers for a free roaming cockatiel?
Hes so adorable🤗
My ringneck goes on top of the curtains when i let him out of the cage. He wouldn’t come down until he’s hungry and after a few bites he climbs back there out of reach.
Hi, how do you know when a bird wants to train?
Your UA-cam channel/business is brilliant and I'm sure you hear this all the time but we LOVE keeping up with you and the flock!
You never leave anything out and you're really setting up a good world for domesticated birbs in the future by doing what you're doing. Thanks BirdTricks
my ringnecked has a stand bc he HATES his cage
we literally have to be careful with our 6 budgies bc one of them ALWAYS flies but he is kinda blind so we really have to be careful
Where might we look for rescue Ringnecks? My wife thinks we should get a rescue over a new baby . Thank you
When i got my 1st 2 indian ringnecks i didnt put them in cages because i dont like locking them up and let them sleep on thier ropes i hung but i wish i would of got them used to sleeping in them because they somtimes get spooked at night and have had some close calls. They have to have a nightlight and the room has to not have much for them to fly into. Im working on getting them used to going in thier cages its not worth loosing my babys
Why is his tail so short, did they trim that too !!!? Aren't ringneck's tails usually very long
we have to cage our bird at night cause thee are lot of cats wandering around even some dogs that can hop and grab my precoius one , so we trained him to go climb a tree chew some leaf wander around the house and always be under furnitures when wandering around the house cause anybody mistakenly can step on them and that can be disheartening.
Tell him we're going inside now. He'll get it. We're going outdoors now. They will learn what your saying
TIA
Thought this before and still say Touche is saying "Jaimie" :-)
What aviary did you find for Blueberry? I know she's too small to go in the aviarys with wider bar spacing. We have a Prevue Hendrix for Angel but I would love a bigger aviary for her.
I saved 2 from around 2 years ,very scared,,I,m doing my best,,I have a kakariki that is a bit trained,I hope I can do well whit them,my kakariki flies 1 our a day free
I don’t know much about Indian ring necks but is Touché chubbier than most ring necks?
