    Check the chassis and mounts for the engine and gear box and body etc.
    We never treated these things very kindly back in the day. These poor things had young blokes that weren’t mechanically sympathetic or that experienced off road driving them. They didn’t drive far but the km they drove were hard!

    Some seriously good info there but I take issue with your call these were peacetime vehicles. My FFR 48-695 I rode at Baidoa Op Solace Somalia and Australian Army Perenties also served in Rwanda, Timor, Cambodia, Iraq, Bouganville, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as across Australia. It is also a myth any of these vehicles were low Ks. Mine has been rebuilt at least three times. As much as mine had 17,000 on the odometer when I bought it the vehicles were "wound back" to zero after rebuild. Agreed. As much as mine has a history with me, I reckon these are the toughest and best value off roaders available. Mick.

    Love my Perentie in California! I have added lockers, HD cvs, custom suspension parts, turbo, etc, blah, blah. Such a great platform.

      NQExplorers I think the Perenite would be great addition to your fleet and would look perfect in video/adventure unlocking the hidden past of WW2 airfields and bases up there in the far north. Well may be one under the Christmas tree next year? Best of luck with you adventure. Kind regards, Geoff

    Apart from the fully functional sticker they also went through monthly Inspections (NTI - non-tech inspection) and a test drive
    - that was a full check of everything that didn’t require a mechanic. Fluids, body, kit, tyres etc etc. any issues it was then backloaded to the mechanics for repair 👍🏻

      You’ll love it when you register it, before we were locked down here in NSW my son and I took mine to Cameron Corner and down the dog fence. We had an awesome 2 weeks touring outback NSW.

    I was looking for a Perentie a few years back to ship here to the Uk but it seemed quite hard, in the end I bought an ex UK Army 110 Wolf, still a great vehicle but they didn’t get a galvanised chassis which I believe the Perentie did?

    Great video, could you say roughly how much you could be expecting to pay at the auction for a decent example that won’t be to much of a headache??

      They have climbed in price around $20,000 to $30,000 AUD seems to be the ball park at the moment. Cheers Geoff

    What would you think these sell for on the auction sites, like a minimum price for say one on the higher end of kms travelled etc.

    • @seriouslyseriesaustralia
      @seriouslyseriesaustralia  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Born 2 Lose. The sky is the limit as to what they would sell for at the moment, generally around 20 to 30k at auction. It also depends on what variant you are looking at as the RSV's go for more. Cheers Geoff

    You're wrong in saying that vehicle did no serious service. My FFR 48-695 was in Somalia 1993 with 1RAR (ask me how I know)and later served East Timor and Afghan with 4RAR CDO. My vehicle has 17000k on the clock but when an engine was giving trouble it was replaced and everything set back to zero.

    Hello Geoff. Even if I will not have the chance to meet one of this beasts in France, your videos about Perentie are interesting. In this video I comment about, your soft top canvas was closed. We could have a closer look at the honeycomb pattern. I can not remember if you already spoke about this particular soft top in a previous video. Is it the original one or did you buy it afterwards? Is this pattern available for a two doors 109, a 88, a 90 or 110? Just indicate the video I can watch about this subject. Otherwise, some more information could be included in a future video. Bye.

      Hi Serge Horion.
      We released a video called 4x4 Trip Preparation on the Land Rover Perentie a few weeks ago which might give you a better idea of the frame set up for the canopy. The canopy frame is similar set up to a Series Land Rover, though there is a roll over the bar just behind the front seats and at the rear of the vehicle, front of the canvas clips under a plate onto of the windscreen which is different to Series Land Rover, though similar to a Wolf. The pattern on the canvas is called AUS CAM, I have placed some web links below as to where you can buy a canopy and where you can find out some information about the Perentie and the canopy.
      Information on Perentie REMLR (Registery of Military Land Rovers)
      www.remlr.com/
      Where you can buy a canopy from;
      www.robcoproducts.com.au/
      Anyway, I hope this helps.
      Kind regards
      Geoff

    Looking to register a Perentie FFR in WA and I want to keep it as original as possible any tips on getting it registered?

    • @seriouslyseriesaustralia
      @seriouslyseriesaustralia  2 роки тому

      I would suggest doing a bit of research in to the department of transport, you maybe able to get it registered as Military vehicle which means you can keep some of the items. I know this is the case in Tasmania. Cheers Geoff

      Hi Eddie. Make sure you get one with a log book, this will have the full service and regiment history of the vehilce, at least then you know what you are getting. Cheers Geoff

    Might be sacrilege but is it possible to retro fit a hardtop…

    • @seriouslyseriesaustralia
      @seriouslyseriesaustralia  2 роки тому

      Hi Shane. It is possible to fit a hard top roof, though you need to remove the hoops and roll over bar work. This is a very expensive process as you would need to buy a Defender roof which have sky rocketed in price and then you would need to buy some Series 2/3 sides for the roof to sit on. Cheers Geoff
