I absolutely enjoy your adventures and videos. I'm the proud owner of 2 Land Rovers . A 1957 series 1 diesel, 86" wheel base, (it's one of the last three 86" made before the 88"). Also 1965 series 2A 109" wheel base diesel station wagon. The 1957 has been in the family sence new, and I'm the original owner of the 109. Both are driven regularly. I've had to make several modifications to the 109 due to the half shafts (axles) breaking. They're a vehicle with sole, character, and personality. nice video. the older landys had some advantages over the newer utes or cars. one of the realy nice part of the old landys is that u can mount tool every wehre on the bonnet. travel light and keep the heavy stuff away from the roof.
Oh man, I’m glad I found your channel. I drive a super clean Toyota Landcruiser Fj62, but don’t hold that against me. LR’s are few and far between here in Arizona. Always on the lookout for a clean 109 or 110 though. I love the bottle of spirits too! Great for after you’ve done some auto work, lol. I sure hope you create some more videos.
Great to see a simple build on a simple car, iconic car. Rather than yet another person who has spent $30k on unnecessary crap that only weighs you down and breaks.
The 2.25 petrol is based on the earlier 1957 2.0 diesel, that is one of the reasons it was such a tough motor. I once had an exhaust valve head brake off in the #4 cylinder of my 1965 88" while doing around 90 kph on the hwy. It made a hell of noise then got quite but started blowing oil out of every possible exit point on the motor. I was limited to around 40 kph and I had to refill the motor several times but I was still able to drive it over 200 km to get home. On taking the cylinder head off I found that the valve head (it was the exhaust) had gone right through the top of the piston and ended up on the sump. Exhaust from the other cylinders had been entering the #4 cylinder through the missing valve and then pressurizing the sump hence oil blowing out everywhere.
What size are the tires? I just purchased my first series - a 1979 swb that I am setting up for The Simpson next year and want to replicate some of your set up. Also, how much fuel did you carry for the Simpson (assuming you used this one?)Thank you.
Hi, I am on the lookout for a series Land Rover but unfortunately people here have changed the engine to Toyota as parts are easily available. My question, is it possible return it to the original as what I am told is that they cut and fit the Toyota engine.
Abdul Raffay you will need to see if they chopped the engine mounts out if not should be easy otherwise see where they have copped the original and replace with original mounts. And then start adding back original system

Yours is the first Land Rover video that I managed to show my wife and she didn't dose off in the middle :) I spoke to the guy and he said that there are plates welded on top of the engine foundation and these could be easily removed. I am not sure!
@@seriouslyseriesaustralia the trick of wearing inside out gives another week haha. I am jealous that you live over there. I live in overcrowded the Netherlands where off-roading is banned all over. I usualy go to the south of France or Spain to drive tracks in my Suzuki Grand Vitara or 1978 2 door Range Rover.
Well to be fair I have owned a couple of series 3s and I do have a soft spot for the landrover but i'm not gonna pretend there was really anything great about them. When you drive a 45 year old series 3 and a landcruiser of similar vintage back to back it's pretty easy to see how far ahead of the game toyota already were and why they came to dominate the 4x4 market.
@@offroadoffshore8987 almost in every way possible my friend. The build quality for a start. The component quality. The engines and transmissions. Off road capability is as good. Ruggednes is superior. Adaptability and utility as good. They are what they have always been: a landrover type vehicle built in Japan to far higher standards than anything that ever came out of solihull. It's just a fact. There are many old cruisers still out there working hard lives. And I mean 30-40 year old 40 series cruisers. Not restored. Not sitting in a garage never used. But working daily still for their living. The reason is because they just keep going and they are very forgiving. You will not see many (if any) "working" 30-40 year old series landrovers I'm afraid.
i hate old land drovers seriously..series.....still running my sixty series 1989 model with 500kms on same engine.......has carried everthing and towed all its life .still running strong...also love my 75 series 1hz diesle towed big loads everywhere as well....i think u need a real mans truck toyota.......

We did go poly bushes. You can get the full kits from most Land Rover spares parts online now. I believe ours was from britpart.
