    I've been a proud owner of a Gladius for a couple of years and my only complaint is the lack of good-looking skins for it. ;)

    I love the way the Gladius looks and flies. That being said, because the ship is relatively fragile I do feel you need to be a really skilled pilot to be effective with it against more then 1 or 2 targets. I'm really not anything special as a pilot, so because of this (and the total lack of an interior to do any box missions) I very rarely actually use it despite it being one of my favourite ships in the game.
    When it comes to actually looking for combat missions I will usually go for a combat ship that can deal a lot more damage (Scorpius or Ares) so I can takje ships down before they become a real threat, or those that can take a lot more hits (like a Vanguard or F8C) so I can stay in the fight for longer.

      Absolutely agree, one on one this thing is great but it’s not a solo ship against a group.

    I wish ejection seats actually saved your life in this game (in atmosphere). Ejecting in atmosphere is like just resigning to a slower death. lol.

      Yeah!!! Can’t wait till we can have a controlled landing after ejecting

    • @pete3198
      @pete3198 8 місяців тому +2

      Yeah - even in real life ejection seats have inbuilt parachutes so the pilot can actually land safely.
      In a future setting like this it would make sense that ejection seats should have some light thrust capabilities to allow you to control the speed and direction of your descent.
      This could even be a nice way to distinguish some ships from others - for example they could give older and more basic fighters (like a Gladius/Hornet) a more basic ejection seat, while more modern and advanced fighters (like the Sabre or F8C) might have more advanced ejection seats that have stronger thrusters and give more control over your landing. More fancy/luxury ships like the 300I might even have a fully automated system where you select a landing spot and it just kinda autopilots you there.
      This would be a cool way to add even more differentiation between ships and help justify the higher cost of some more advanced ships (or give more reason to buy a luxury ship).

      the seat should go with the pilot and have a parachute, ejection is just for space atm, dont even botter with it in atmo

    I’m not a big fan of this because 🤷‍♂️, but I’m excited for when they fold standard the rest of the ships
    Fun video and glad to see an ejection. Hope you and your family have a great new year. Enjoy!

    One of the best looking ships aesthetically outside the lightning imo. Had to melt the lightning though. Can’t have 15% of my account value tied up in a ship I use in probably a total of 5% of my playtime currently.

    I think the Gladius needs more firepower for how fragile it is. The starter base Avenger Titan has better durability and just about as much fire power and its meant for light freight. The Avenger Titan Renegade has even more firepower. Love both ships (Aegis in general is my favorite ship brand) but I mean come on....why is a poster child for 42 so under powered in guns....

    Doesn't it struggle with yaw in planet atmo even at SCM speed? I seem to remember something like that.

      I wasn’t having any issues moving around even above scm, doesn’t move like an arrow but moves really well

    I am not the best at dog fighting in SC, but I want to stretch my wings a bit into some bounty missions ... still splitt between the arrow or the gladius ^^"

    • @EvenLease44

      The arrow has more health and stock dps but also only one shield compared to the Gladius having two. If you are spending real $ you could always get the arrow and if you don’t like it upgrade it to the gladius.

      @@EvenLease44 Well two shields sound pretty neat for a total noob like me XD but you are right, I still have a mustang laying around I don´t really like ... maybe I go for the Arrow first and when I don´t like it I throw that extra 10$ at it ^^

      Both are a lot of fun. Personally I prefer the Gladius - I think its a bit better looking, and I feel 1 shield is just too weak (it really doesn't give you any room for error in a fight).

    • @JayNut_001
      @JayNut_001 8 місяців тому

      @pete3198 that is true, specially if you are not very good in space combat to begin with like me those two shields could come in very handy ^^
      The Gladius has a more rugged, clearly military look in my opinion, but I probably try out the arrow, I can still upgrade to a Gladius for 10 bucks.

    • @pete3198

      @@JayNut_001 Definitely recommend trying both!
      If I recall correctly the Arrow is a wee bit more agile in terms of direction changes, while the Gladius is a little faster and has stronger acceleration - though this was the case quite a few patches back, so not sure if its still true.
      Gladius is a tad tougher, Arrow can deal a bit more damage.
      I think both are great looking ships - though somethign about the Arrow's wing arrangement makes it look a tad weird to me from the direct rear view. Still cool though. Both have good cockpit visibility.
      You can always earn some in game credits and then rent both ships from one of the rental shops within the game.
      If you want a third (and cheaper) alternative you can also try the Avenger Titan. It's probably about 80% as good combat wise as the Arrow and Gladius but has the added benefit of a decent and functional cargo bay (to allow you to do box missions, etc) and a bed (to allow you to log out in space). If you only intend on having one single < $100 ship in your fleet then the Avenger Titan is probably the best option.
      If you already have a second ship for doing general missions and you just want a pure dedicated fighter, then the Arrow/Gladius are definitely better options.

    Not 10 minutes or less....so the Gladius is free.....
