I run the Hawk as a modified "distortion demon" in that I put distortion repeaters as the 4 main weapons and then NDBs on the chin mount. The distortions and the EMP help me to knock out a target quick and keep them knocked out while the chin weapons chip away at the hull HP. It's obviously not great against larger ships but it's great against smaller ones. If you ever played WoW back in the day, it's kinda like a rogue stun-locking an enemy and it really infuriates the target. It's the ship and loadout I go to for dealing with pirates or griefers. Also, unless something drastically changed, you don't have to go into the items MFD to power on the EMP. The MFD you were on initially is the "Weapons Groups" MFD with group 0 being the guns and 1 being the EMP. You just need to turn on group 1 to turn on the EMP. Hope that helps.
Personal factoid, the Hawk's release is what finally convinced me to back SC. After following it since the kickstarter started blowing up, i kept following its development, but told myself id only pledge when i was happy playing the game as is. They released the trailer for the hawk, and i decided it was time. I pledged the Connie Andromeda package to help development and to play with friends, and have never regretted it since. Every patch, the Hawk is the first ship I earn in game to honor its place in my personal history, and I still love it. My personal favorite light fighter other than the Talon Shrike, which i love for the potential of using it in specific fleet combat strategies i plan to use. Now i just need them to implement tier 1 Bounty Hunting for live captures.
His information is bad though. Anyone who's used the Hawk extensively (not just to pump out some half-baked video review) knows how good this ship is. In the current flight model nothing can lay a glove on this ship. Use full Tarantula ballistic cannons with staggered fire and you can easily do ERTs. And with ballistics you can safely put all capacitor strength to shields the entire fight.
They didn't break the bed in the back. It's no longer a bed, you can still open it by pressing the open all hotkey, but there isn't a bed anymore. It's a canister for a prison box which doesn't exist. Wish they waited to make that change until it had a use. This was my goto, I want to bounty hunt but might need to leave on short notice ship
Use 2 weapon groups to stop draining your ammo cap immediately especially if youre using distortion and laser. Then you can cycle when capacitors are charging
The best way to use the Hawk (by far) is with full Tarantula ballistic cannons (staggered fire) with all capacitor strength set to shields during combat. ERTs are a breeze with that set up, and in the current flight model barely anything can hit you.
Meh. The Hawk is amazing, and a competent pilot will get hit by almost nothing in the current flight model. The TroMag EMP is much better than some give it credit for too. Lastly, the appropriate way to loadout this (and several other light fighters right now) is in full ballistics with the capacitor fully boosting shields at all times in combat. When outfitted with full Tarantula ballistic cannons the Hawk can easily do ERTs.
I think most people will end up swapping this to ballistics and using it as a Interceptor for a larger ship as support. When we can at least rearm our own ships manually without just weapon swapping.
You're correct, but he didn't know that because unlike an experienced player he only briefly used this ship in order to pump out a half-baked video review.
EMP would make this ship awesome when working. Its meant to be loaded with distorsión cannons/repeaters when they work. With the ballistic rework it hits hard but not a good bounty when you cant shut off your enemy.
This is classified as a don't underestimate ship

Love this ship. Not the meta, but the most fun light combat ship I’ve used. Full laser repeaters are the way to go
This is the video I’ve been looking for from you! Thanks Even!

SUCH a shame about the back, I'm ure I used to use it as a box delivery space.. :( I liked the sound of this ship, looks cool.

Wonder if the EMP can knock out missiles or ground vehicles?

I tried to like this ship, but without the passenger pod working and me not really understanding how the EMP works, I just can’t get behind it

Still love it and still keeping it, in hope that the Gold pass will bring it all together - but your review is spot on.

Good timing just got a ccu for this
It looks so cool
Really great vid! Subbing!

I still think this is one of the ugliest ships in the game. It looks like a pigeon sitting on a stoop, not a hawk.
I always thought it looked more like a pterodactyl.
I agree, it’s waaayyy over designed.
