My medical rescue org uses this ship as our primary response vessel almost exclusively, coupled with a medical ship. Med rescues are some of the most hazardous things you can do, because you know you're going into somewhere dangerous (why else do they need rescue?), and you don't know how that threat environment might evolve - including griefers and PVPers. When you want to be ready for anything, or at least capable of getting OUT of any bad situation, the Redeemer is a great choice. No ship does everything, but for a small team, the Redeemer comes as close as any.
@@G0oNi.E You do realize you're saying this 5 months later than it was posted, right? Also, what makes you think we don't have multiple alternatives, and constantly evolving procedrures already?
This is just a fun ship, and maybe my favorite. Go out with thing and 3-4 friends, and it is a blast. Unlike larger ships it is very compact, making it very quick to have people swap turrets, assemble to deploy, etc. And the snack bar is the icing on the top. Last time we took one out for JT we had a Gladius ram us, took out an F8, destroyed a parked ship taking on drugs, and deployed marines to chase down the last of them on foot. ...You might get more firepower by taking separate ships. but this is just more fun.
This is my favourite ship, flying it is so much fun with friends. An added benefit is the quantity of quantum fuel. You can complete mission after mission. The added drinks and food make the ship a 10/10 for me.
For when you and 3 of the lads want to speed run getting rekt by a single F7C that’s kiting you. The Redeemer: Setting the bar for martyrdom gameplay. Crew soul redemption guaranteed.
Love the Redeemer. With 2 friends this has been our solid and reliable PVP ship. It always gets us home, and gets us a bunch of kills in the process. Underestimate a Redeemer at your own peril.
Great insights on the components in the back, never gave thet any thought before. This ship is so good - a friend of mine has one and it's incredible for multi crew combat. We have so much fun whenever he takes it out.
On the front pilot controlled remote turret i have distortion weapons on it. very nice against small and medium ships. specially in atmosphere... watching them crashing into ground :D
It's a powerhouse ship to be sure when crewed up but I just have never been able to get past the nutcracker wings. I get that it came from a contest way back in the earliest days of the game's development but it looks stupid to me and doesn't fit the design language of the manufacturer at all.
Yeah, that was a fun contest back in the day. They did explain the technology they tried to use in lore and how problematic/unreliable it was if I remember. I'm curious if they might somehow make that a factor in the final version - perhaps making it a vulnerable spot on the ship? Just speculation on my part, it's just so good (too good right now I think), and I'm curious how they'll balance it at the end of the day.
Redeemer kind of sucks now. The torque imbalances render it useless. But somehow, even worse than that, the Redeemer now has roughly the same maneuverability as the Starfarer. Yeah. That's right. Starfarer: 17/17/27 Redeemer: 18/18/30 Corsair: 30/30/60 That's right, the Corsair, the flying brick of Star Citizen, has almost double the maneuverability as the Redeemer now. No point in grinding 17 million in game to get the Redeemer when you could just grind 6.5 million and be better off.
I LOVE your reviews! Thank you for that. Can you do please the Retaliator at some time too? I think it's just very interesting that the Tali has the most HP in the whole game to represent the very heavy armor it will have (Devs said they just didn't find space to put a large shield, so they game it massive armor). We'll see how that pans out in the rework of course.
Great review as always! Full disclosure: I have this as a pledge, and it will be CCU'd to a Galaxy later. I say this after spending dozens of hours in it in both pilot and gunner roles. Much as I like the strong military design and intended mission profile, I regret this pledge more than any other BY FAR. In spite of your positive review, I strongly and emphatically DO NOT recommend anyone buying one (for aUEC or real money) at this time. In the current broken PU flight model, the Deemer in PvP is practically a sitting duck (even at full redline speed) for a group of light fighters or F8's armed with OP distortions. Even fully manned, its ability to defend itself in PvP is massively pathetic and you will very quickly have buyer's remorse. It is also a very poor choice for solo play as the ship's true potential isn't possible without gunners in the main turrets. You would be much better served buying a Connie or Corsair if you want big ship solo play. However, a major drawback of those turrets is that they carry Size 5 guns, and laser repeaters at that size are infamous for their slow fire rate and low damage potential compared to cannons. If you stick with cannons, it is almost impossible to score hits against skilled LF players, and ballistics have the limited ammo problem. I have a feeling the Deemer will be in a much better place after they introduce and gradually perfect Master Modes over time and add in physical armor upgrades to lessen the threat of small-size weapons, but right now, don't even bother.
I dont think you managed to get everything out of that Redeemer. Its a ship that was designed to fight medium ships and other gunships. You need 4 people to man it and when you have that, the ship is a beast. And why are you trying to combat fighters? You got 2x S3 shields, you can just say goodbye to the attacker and jump away. And if you are against a wolfpack that has a Mantis, you are gone, no matter what ship you are flying. I agree its not a good solo daily driver, but if you need firepower and you have friends, the Redeemer is a fine choice. Certainly much better than a fully manned Corsair or Connie. I had a Redeemer pledge i upgraded to a C2 recently and i kinda miss it, my org does use it, ill grab another one when itll become available again.
@@Sylar0n Nearly all PvPers are in light fighters. I'm in an org that often takes on player bounties. Sometimes our targets have lots of protection and all of them are heavy on distortions flying LF's. Bad situation for Redeemer, even fully crewed. For PvE, however, a crewed Redeemer is pretty amazing
Redeemer will have its place once the light fighter meta gets changed, it slaps all medium and large ships around and it might be a viable threat to a few of the corvettes when they release. Redeemer is very well rounded, but I don’t like how the rear turret can’t shoot up.
To me it is one of the few ships that becomes far more dangerous the more you have crewing it. You see one person in it, nothing to worry about really. But, have 2 people, it becomes a concern. 3 you strongly consider running... 4 you run, just run. And 5 is just a bonus.
Very true! It feels like a support ship to me in the end as almost everything can outrun it. This ship feels like it would be fantastic as escorting or combat drops.
I love how this ship looks, buuut as a solo player I really despise thaht all the cool ships have turrets and some even need them to make a good amount of damage ^^"
It's really difficult to say where it will land in the future. Combat is still being balanced and we need to see how engineering, the new damage system, and armor plays out. I think it's inevitable that some ships will fit in to more tightly defined roles for what they are good at. I wouldn't sweat it, just give it a little time and we'll get a sense of it soon.
Not too far in the future you will see hireable NPC crew and AI/Automated CPU "Blades" modules you will be able to purchase and install in ships to automatically operate remote turrets.
@@LastResortGameNews PRobably not any time soon, and hopefully CIG scraps the idea entirely. God forbid an MMO game has multiplayer aspects instead of catering to solo players that have quite literally dozens upon dozens of ships to choose from that are geared perfectly for them.
@north_borne The AI "Blade" expansion slot automation control for turrets will only be gir remote turrets and will not provide any automation for manned turrets. Also, these components will not be nearly as effective as a skilled player operating the remote turret. Hirable NPC crew has been a goal for years. And again these hirable NPCs will not be as effective as a skilled player but will certainly help fill out larger ships and provide some help with system management or ability to have these NPCs perform basic tasks (use fire extinguishers if needed) things like that. And remember, this only affects the largest ships. Fighters and medium single crew ships (Vulture/SRV/Prospector/etc.) would not have any need of these gameplay systems.
@@north_borne I'm kind of hoping they don't scrap it and just maintain the really stringent restrictions it was going to have. Most ships won't have the computer space to blade every turret and AI crew is supposed to be expensive. I hope we at least get the crew to money sink, I'd be willing to put down fat credits on it
What in the Hell has possessed CIG to put the "jump seats" on the second floor of landing craft and dropships? At least the Valkyrie has it right. What's the point in being suited up, ready to deply only to have to funnel down, waiting your turn on the ladder?
So, yeah: this ship moves like a cow, those oversized turrets look _wrong,_ and the _minute_ you look funny at those silly engine pods they fall apart and send you into a spin _and_ preclude you from landing on any planets, because the Redeemer doesn't have enough thrust to hover in an atmosphere without either of its engines, as I've learned the hard way 😑 And there's no way to actually get those components out of the ship, yeah 🙂
Idk what you are smoking, ive had missiles hit my engines and they are fine, its probably the most durable externally mounted engines on any medium/large ship.
