The MOST AWESOME guitar break, supporting one of the most sensuous singers - a masterpiece! I bow to your massive talent Maria and Amos - thank you for the timeless joy.
Maria, I hope you post here. This is your legacy. I’ve heard me many versions but this is your best. I listened to it in Iraq during tough times and always smiled....
It's not just that Maria's vocal are great (they certainly are!); and the lyrics; and the instrumentation, etc. What everyone involved was able to capture in this masterpiece was such a sense of exoticism. You really fell like your transported to a scenery of sand, camels, oases, and mysterious love!!! What a song!!!!!!!

--- Exactly!! -- Very well said! I couldn't have said it any better myself.
Oh man! So beautifully stated. I would listen to this song and just imagine being with her in the evocative space the lyrics conjured. Another song that had a similar affect on my imagination was ‘Poetry Man ‘ by Phoebe Snow. Very evocative and sensual tune for men like me.
I was a big fan of Jim Kweskin's Jug Band in the 60s. I was listening to a pop station when I first heard this song, and I instantly recognized Maria's marvelous voice. It was great that she was finally getting the recognition she deserved.
Brings back good memories. I was in my prime in the 70's. Great song... great upload. But knowing that Maria Muldaur will be 70 next birthday fills me with trepidation.
The lyrics to this one are sensual. Definitely a song I have a greater appreciation for now that I'm older than when I was a kid (I was only 8 when this was a hit and didn't quite understand it).
Thank you for posting this, and the lovely montage of photos of Maria. Tasty guitar in this song, Les Paul-esque. Thank you, commenter Ron Hunt, for identifying the guitarist Amos Garrett.
Great voice and song, my wife bought this album and loved the song. Just a catchie and enjoyable song..written by David Nichtern Guitar work by Amos Garrett
My girl! Have every one of her albums...This, her first is my favorite...It is one of those very rare, and few between LP's that you can put on and play BOTH sides, end to end and enjoy each and every song ! Masterpiece..( I have a few of her other clips on my station) Thanx for this...classic
I just gotten married and we where on our way to Mexico on a Harley, and this song came out, it was magical being on the beaches at night with nobody around, every time we would hear this song we would look at each other and say WOW that reminds me of us in Mexico.
lovely song and lady, I remember this tune when I was in my 4th year Medical school back 1974 long time ago, thx fo post t. best regards from Mexico. Luis
So far as I recall, this was Maria's only moment in the pop music spotlight. But those of us old enough to remember the Jim Kweskin Jug Band loved her back when she sang with them, and love her still.
Thanks for the upload. Great song. I liked the album, also, remember "Don't you feel my leg..." I would love to hear that again without unpacking the albums and turntable!!
Greetings dearest frd Carl.. :) apologies for being late.. loved it in my first listen itself... so lovely song it is... thanks alot for the wonderful share... god bless u buddy :)

Today is my birthday. I was born the same day that Roger Delgado who played the Master on Doctor Who died. This song is so beautiful, I'm trapped in a 70's time-ward & proud!

Mama Mia Maria....Wow she is so beautiful, and what a variety of looks through the years. Wish her the best, have always enjoyed this song.

Agree, but I would replace "exoticism" with "eroticism".
@@tonymiller5621 I'm not going to argue with you, Tony!

Thanks for the upload. Great song. I liked the album, also, remember "Don't you feel my leg..." I would love to hear that again without unpacking the albums and turntable!!
One of the three sexiest songs, ever! Sylvia's "Pillow Talk" and Donna Summers' "Love to Love You" are the other two :-)
Put on some Barry White and feel your woman purr.
Brian Amberg Great call!!!
I would put Barry White's I'm Gonna Love You a Little Bit More on that list. Top four sexist songs.
to each his own! :-)

A strong contender, but I wouldn't rule out Minnie Riperton (Lovin You).
This is a feel good song! :)
Today is my birthday. I was born the same day that Roger Delgado who played the Master on Doctor Who died. This song is so beautiful, I'm trapped in a 70's time-ward & proud!
You bet! Same here.
How many of our mistakes would we undo if we could go back in a time machine and make those necessary corrections!
That would fuckin' RULE!!!
libertarianation1 What's even more weird, my Mum is the spitting image of Maria Muldaur, from the photo's I've seen from the 1970's!
