Controversial Porsche modifications have been around since the 1980s, with tuning companies like Gembala, rinspeed and koenig giving us some of the most extreme examples.
    footage of 80s cars
Today's tuned porsches are not nearly as flamboyant, but companies like RWB, tech-art and Mansory are still giving us some questionable, if not sometimes, cringe worthy creations.
    footage of todays cars
But on the other end of the spectrum, we've got companies like Singer and Guntherworks, who have shown us that modified porsches can be amongst the most tasteful cars in the world.

But I will say that when it comes to RWB, they actually have made a handful of tastefully modified Porsches.
For the majority of their existence, porsches have been considered too sacred and too rare for people to modify *themselves*, but in the last decade, this perception has changed, and now it's commonplace for owners to modify their own Porsches, regardless of how bad those modifications might be.
Every porsche owner falls into one of three categories - theres the porsche purist, who believes every Porsche comes perfect from the factory and should never be modified, theres the casual porsche owner who says it's "your car and you can do what you want with it", and then there's the people who like to offend the porsche purists, and get lots of attention in the process.

When it comes to modifying Porsches, every modification falls into one of six categories: modifications that enhance the cars performance, modifications that enhance the cars appearance, modifications that enhance the cars performance and appearance, modifications that enhance the cars performance but ruin the cars appearance, modifications that enhance the cars appearance but ruin the cars performance, and then we have the worst category, modifications that ruin the cars appearance and ruin the cars performance.
In this video we’re going to be looking at the top 5 most popular Porsche modifications that ruin the way the cars look, and ruin the way they perform.
    1. Huge fender flares - There's no question that subtly flared fenders can make a porsche even sexier, and if you've got the power to back it up, bigger fender flares and rear wheels can look good too. But there comes a point when ultrawide fender flares and wheels start creating huge amounts of aerodynamic drag, tire friction and weight, and that's a big price to pay for making your car look worse.
    2. body kits with fake intakes - Not all bodykits look bad, but most tend to be made from inferior materials that weigh significantly more than the original body panels. And when those body kits have fake air intakes, they're not just making your car heavier and uglier, they're also increasing aerodynamic drag, creating 2 ways that hinder your cars performance.

    3. Huge rear wings. To some people, huge wing equals race car. But when it comes to aftermarket parts, many of these wings can weigh as much as 50 pounds, and all that added weight is going to the worst place possible - the rear of the car. But not only do these wings add an extreme amount of weight to the rear, they also create a lot of aerodynamic drag, making your car slower and more difficult to drive. And let's be honest, this just doesn't look good.
Now I can respect the premise of - it's your can and you can do whatever you want with it - if it's a Nissan or a Honda, but to buy a precisely engineered machine, like a porsche, and completely ruin it's performance is just silly
    4. Extreme Stancing. The whole entire point of owning a porsche is to have a car that offers superior performance at high speeds, and one of the most important elements of a porsches performance, is it's suspension. Depending on your car's current suspension setup, lowering it a little bit might increase the performance, but nothing good can come from making your Porsche completely undrivable at highspeeds and completely goofy looking at any speed.
And now the worst possible modification that you can do to your porsche...
    1. large wheels on air-cooled porsches. I'll spare you the physics lesson and just tell you that the larger and heavier the wheels are, the harder the engine needs to work to turn them, so in short, the bigger and heavier your wheels are, the slower your car is.

The beautiful thing about 911s is every owner gets to do what they want . Always have always will. RWB are nothing more then 934 935 street cars and Gemballa were awesome in the 80s and still are hot as hell as far as im concerned. Its always been this way. Concours cars are also awesome. This is why i love 911s. The most beautifull 911s to me are the 934 935 itterations. What RWB copied.

Where to get a metal 73’ front spoiler and info about the weights installed on the front of the early models.
Info on where to get quality made Duck tails.
Info on Euro style front headlights and amber tail-lights.
How to remove the vertical rubber trim on the bumpers.
How to correctly lower and modify the suspension.
    Where to buy aftermarket seats.
Where to get quality Fuchs reproduction wheels.
    Roll bar options.
    Etc….

What’s your opinion on Porsche’s Aerokit offered on its configurator?

Just about every Porsche add on is a scam. Having to pay $3000 extra to not have an ugly front bumper, 15k for a nice color or thousands for black trim is all a giant rip off. Porsche has gone off the rails.

You don't have to modify a 911 for it to be distasteful as it comes from the factory that way. Clarkson was right in this video ua-cam.com/video/dDHK4DbLKCc/v-deo.html

The distasteful image on the link looks much the same as a 992.2 GT2 RS Come on, Porsche has no clue on how to design a good looking car.

Why constantly pronouncing the name Porsche the wrong way? It is supposed to be pronounced as "Porsje" , not "porsja"

Not having the decency to keep others opinions' or in this case the facts in my comment, just shows that your main problem putting the produce this unbased video might be just jealousy 🫣
