    I think you're misunderstanding why the worker scar is popular in North America. It's not popular because it's the best option it's popular because it's the best price to performance option. It's dirt cheap compared to a bearing scar, and much less finicky to deal with for new players compared to your traditional string scar.

    • @anvu27257

      Yup. Cheap, Simple and effective enough for under 200 fps. Plus it can fit on the barrel lugs of unmodified DZP blasters

      The flag and armor one is $20?

    • @azerik92
      @azerik92 7 місяців тому

      @@EssxEnergy not sure what point you're trying to make, but it's $26 USD on Out of Darts which makes it a whole $10 more than that here in Canada at $36.
      The worker scar is $7.50, which is only $11.00 here. It is literally dirt cheap in comparison at less than half the price of a printed alternative.
      The Flag and Armor printed bcar may be a great value for what it is, but plenty of people won't want to trust a printed option long term, and it's still nowhere close to the price of the worker scar. Why spend close to $30 for a sub 200fps game when a $10 option will be probably good enough?

    The only four things that made me choose the unicorn over this for the time being are: non clamshell toolless takedown, unicorn is nylon reinforced with fiberglass so it’s stonger, and the seagull doesn’t come in orange. Which matters because of how plastic yellows with age. Sure you can paint and nylon yellows too but a dye job wears much better and nylon doesn’t get weaker from a dye job the way ABS does. Oh and fourth, I currently have a relatively small play area. It’s not quite like your CQB arena but yeah.
    Also there’s the cost of entry. The unicorn is what I could afford at this time.
    I do look forward to reviews of the metal kit that has the metal buffer tube as well but truth be told I’d love a seagull as well. Kinda leaning towards purple.
    Re painting, there’s also the inevitable problem of having to leave friction areas bare or living with scratches and worn away paint which are a non issue if the base color isn’t prone to yellowing.
    One thing I’d eventually love to do with a unicorn is dye it black then paint it a street safe color. So if there are scratches they’ll look inoffensive.
    I suppose the only other reason I’m less excited about the unicorn is deleting the safety and swapping the catch require a a clam shell open which I have my own neurotic reasons for disliking even if the need to do it isn’t frequent.
    I know the seagull mag will be released in different colors soon. Hoping for smoked transparent

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT

      The metal plunger rod is more of a performance upgrade, it increases the fps a little from having a better seal and heavier weight. I don't think it's really a 100% necessary upgrade.

    Nice video as always. Got mine in and used it most of the night last night. Interesting that you're getting ~10-15 fps higher than I got. Maybe humidity is at play. Your lowest range wouldn't be legal in our arena's 160fps limit.
    I found myself wanting to go back to the unicorn, but the seagull was very nice feeling and I'll be giving it a few more runs before I make the call on whether or not I prefer the unicorn over it.
    Cheers from America. ❤

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  10 місяців тому +1

      As your arena is probably as CQB as CQB gets, the shorter length of the Unicorn may have some merit.
      And since you're only playing at 160fps, there's enough overlap of the two blasters that both can fill the role.
      I suspect humidity is at play, or potentially even bamboo darts vs regular?

      Depends on your fps cap. Above 180ish then yes, absolutely

    • @saeriroux
      @saeriroux 9 місяців тому

      I mean they're very different blasters. If your group's fps cap is more than 200, then the Seagull is the only choice, but under that threshhold, they're very different.
      The Unicorn is MUCH smaller than the Seagull due to the design and more modular, plus has the top prime gimmick if you want that (or set it up for both like mine).
      Slam-fire doesn't seem like a huge deal for a lot of people but if you want it the Seagull doesn't have it. The Unicorn also has the pin takedown system which makes some parts of maintenance and upgrades much faster and easier.
      On the other hand, if you're running at higher fps or swap fps often then the Seagull is probably the better option and has more cross-compatibility with commonly used parts and springs since the Harrier and similar blasters are so popular.
      I think the comparisons between these blasters are a bit silly because they clearly seem to be for different people and not quite direct competitors other than just being small springers.

    Just stumbled upon this channel somehow lol... I was suprised when I noticed there's like high end nerf guns you guyys are running.... one question though.... Airsoft exists... paintball exists.... why are you guys running around with nerf guns?

      Airsoft is illegal here, paintball is highly regulated to the point it's very expensive and not as popular

      Some of us prefer nerf because we can play in public parks so it's cheaper than paying to play at arenas on their schedule.

      I saw a video a while back that explained why a lot of nerfers prefer it over airsoft. Firstly, it says that one of the main draws is the darts. You arent running around with like 100s or 1000s of rounds spraying everywhere, so it makes youre decision making more impactful, and ultimately more realistic. Also, it give you the perception that you can dodge a projectile coming at you. Finally, its much more accessible, and you can play with your kids at a park or around the house

    I've found past 180fps the Seagull is pretty terrible in consistency compared to the Harrier. With the right darts at the right fps, the Harrier can easily achieve between 1-3 fps standard deviation, while the seagull will typically be 8+. This is pretty much consistent with the extensive FPS tests blastertime eu did, and the results in this video.

      We'll see whether that can be improved with some upgrades

      I've been testing my Seagull with the 1.6×250mm spring to get around 220fps with the shortest barrel, and have been finding the std to be below 5fps with Normal Red Gen3s. I'm not sure what I've been doing different from other people's tests, I'm using a Caldwell with the lighting kit, and confirmed my results with another airsoft chrono.

    I feel like the only person who wouldn’t choose this over a unicorn, I would use a unicorn with upgraded internals, a buffer tube and stock, a barrel collet+shroud, and essentially have something very similar to a seagull but better Imo, and the non-ambi part isn’t terrible for me, since I’m used to using my other hand the strike a side mag release

      The unicorn has a lower maximum power output. If you only play low fps games that's not an issue though.

    worth noting there is also a $40 difference between the harrier and the seagull, which is not really that much at all, so if you want something more multi purpose you're better off going with a harrier, since it might be unwieldy in CQB but its still doable.
