Forget “Mr. Warmth”: Don Rickles has another name he’d like Zach Galifianakis to call him. In this episode of “Dinner with Don,” Zach explains to Don who Zach Galifianakis is. They both talk about getting started in comedy. Don explains the perils of insulting men’s wives and why he never wants to retire. "Dinner with Don" is a legacy series celebrating Don Rickles' life and career. It was produced by AARP Studios, Winbrook Entertainment and Stamper Lumber Company.

Seeing a respectful and engaged Zach made me happy.
James Barros if Zach didn't bring his A game he's knows he would have gotten steam rolled.
James Barros he had issues dealing with his fame. Hes an introvert. You get a good insight about who he is in an episode of “comedians in cars getting coffee”

Zach got three honest laughs out of him, that's epic on it's own. Don must have passed shortly after this.

I love how these are uploaded by the AARP
RIGHTT?!
Looks like the AARP likes it too
econ me too especially at 52 I am now a member... it’s official and this is so classy and nostalgic.
Don Rickles is someone I like to call "aggressive-passive". They make fun of you in an aggressive way and pretend to be your enemy, but you immediately know they love you.
I like this comment. I agree with you and I would add “aggressive-passive” people are SO much nicer to be around then passive-aggressive.
I'm kinda like that. I'm bored with small talk so I'll bring up the real thing and if someone is too quiet I'll tell them to keep it down or ironically say their energy is too much.
When you meet your hero . You can actually see Zack glowing at times when normally he would be acting unemotional
It was the most "normal" I've ever seen Zack look... Make you realize the "weird" shtick he usually portrays is just an act. I have a newfound respect for Zack now... Great interview. I've thoroughly enjoyed all the "Dinner with Don" vids. Rest in peace Don.
Doing this for him was probably like Kobe meeting or playing against Jordan the first time.
Yeah it s really cool to watch

The fact that AARP made this series that will go down as comedy historiography is a punch line in itself.
I’m glad someone said it
Don, there will never be another like you, one of a kind sir, miss you dearly.
Don kept eyeing Zach between every verbal exchange they were having and smirking / smiling ; he was seeing an aspect of himself in Zach.
You could really tell that Don liked Zach a lot. Two peas in a pod the two of them.
Rest in eternal Love Don, THANK YOU for all the laughter --- you were literally a comedic *GOD* 💝👏
Absolutely agree with you! I love this interview so much. Just makes me a little sad knowing Don left us just 4 months later. He was sharp as a tack till the end. Miss him.
Kind of a spiritual father right ?
Yes 😊very cute Zach is funny too
Noticed that as well..Don saw Zach as a guy who could he could go toe to toe with for awhile and that had to be a rare treat for a guy like Rickles.
Totally agree...😂
It brung a tear to my eye when Don Rickles complimented Zach. To be complimented by Don is a true blessing. He was such a great human being and made me laugh while growing up. . I would of loved Don to be on between 2 ferns. Rest in peace and keep those Angels laughing friend

When Don shook Zach’s tiny hand you can actually see the love and respect. RIP Don Rickles.
My favorite part is where Zach says he used to watch comedies just so he could hear his dad laugh.. very touching.. cool thing is now Zach makes the world laugh.
An ironically fitting quote for this day in age .. "Do what'chu want, it's America"~ Don Rickles
this was 3 hours too short, loved it though.
For those that feel sad when reminded about the loss of this treasure of a man consider the fact that we actually had him here for 90 years. I imagine other worlds in other universes where a Rickles never even existed. The guy having graced us for so long is cause for celebration.
This was wonderful to watch. My dad loved Rickles [as he would call him] and rarely missed a show of his whenever he came to town [Chicago]. He also supported Don with his jazz band opening for him. He was a drummer. Don played too and asked dad for lessons to help sharpen himself up. He also saw Don many times too in Vegas. Him and mom would dress-up, hit the venue and grab a table at the front on the right.
Don always absolutely ripped dad to bits every time. Dad used to say, "You can't get much better than being roasted by the maestro." Dad passed in 2014 aged 90.
I've gone on too long! I'll just add that it was a pleasure to see something so funny and respectful too. Thank you.

**Guest says literally anything**
Jimmy Fallon: 1:31
It doesn't take more than the guest breathing for Fallon to activate fake mode haha
The table. Oh, man.
Why did you have to bring that up ? The suffering. The endless pain.
Some people weep for the homeless. Some weep for victims of war.
Some weep for the malnourished.
I weep for the abused.
Specifically, the desk in Jimmy Fallon's studio.
How does Fallon live with himself ? That desk has more injuries than Terry Funk. (Which is interesting because Terry Funk used to jump through tables. Or be slammed though them. Or he'd slam others through them.)
But at least he'd destroy them quickly.
But not Jimmy Fallon.
No. That's not Jimmy's style. No indeed.
He TORTURES the desk. He beats it like a red-headed stepchild.
Every single night (except some nights). Every single guest. Bang ! Bang ! Bang !
And woe betide if the guest is a comedian ! Then the beatings are twice as bad
It makes me sick.
That desk won't live to see 10 years old. I'm surprised its lasted as long as it has.
Can you imagine how much that desk has gone through ?
Its gone way past common assault. Now, we're witnessing torture !
And the audience laughs ! They laugh at the sight, like drunken yokels watching America's Funniest Home Videos.
While the desk just sits there, disabled, desperately wanting to escape, but condemned, until death, to endure Fallon's ferocity.
I cry for that desk. I weep. I spill oceans of tears. When will it end ?
When will this MONSTROUS spectacle end ???
The savagery. The undiluted violence. The cruelty.
The horror.
The horror.
You really have to hand it to Zach, such a delicate assignment, he had to mix reverence for the comedy legend, with an ability to still go toe to toe, and managed to get several good ones "off." A lot of fun watching these two enjoy each other.
Don RIckles had one of the biggest, kindest hearts of anyone I've ever seen. This world is a much less happy place without him in it.
2:44 it is extremely gratifying to watch Zach actually smile. Like, not a character. Not a fake “ha I’m dead inside” smile. A genuine, pleased with himself, somewhat star-struck smile. Makes me happy.
Rickles... rest in peace ...
Even late in life he was still sharp.
I had the pleasure of meeting Don Rickles back stage in Vegas when I was a teenager , very nice guy he show was so funny I cried
“Do what you want. It’s America.”
Love that.
5:05 Don't think ive ever seen Clint Eastwood smile. Awesome. Only Don Rickles.
Don, may he rest in peace, is the greatest of all time. Fucking legend. God damn get these tears out of my eyes.
Don Rickles is the meanest person I love.
I love the fact that Don blast him right away when he starts laughing at everything. Letting him know he doesn’t feel like dealing with fake laughter.
"Have you seen Corky Romano?" cracked me up!

I noticed the tears being pulled back when Zach said he was listening to his dad laugh while watching Don. Made a great ending Zach.
I truly loved the late great Mr. Don Rickles , and seeing this sincere interview was really beautiful
Listen... Don Rickles is a legend. And to see Zach actually acknowledge him is making me happy.
I grew up watching Don Rickles and have always loved him and his humor. Zach's "Between Two Ferns" is very reminiscent of Don't cutting humor and his delivery is impeccable. I needed this laugh this morning and am glad I ran across the video.
I worked with Don many years ago and he was one of the nicest, generous, and respectful talents I have worked with

zackitz5 Master of Malice...
So I've seen this one a few times and I JUST noticed how much Zach was shaking with the fork. I would have been nervous as hell too sitting with that level of comedic royalty.

One of the best to ever do it. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a clip of Don Rickles and didn’t leave with a smile on my face. Man was one of a kind and truly a great.

"Jews don't farm" hahahahah, you can't fake this REALNESS
Ben Rifkin I liked the follow up: "I know people who own the land." Lol
Jews don't usually farm, but when they do, CNN finds a way to blame them for several wars.
He sounds so much like my (Jewish) dad lmaoooo do we know our people or do we know our people?!
So Fiddler on the Roof is just a big lie. ;) ;) ;)
the sad part being that only a "select" group of people get to openly make fun of that particular group that seems to own a LOT of the worlds resources and entertainment avenues.
LOL I love how Don instantly recognizes he's facing a tough opponent, insists on being called God 😂

This is one of the best interviews I've heard with Don Rickles
Rickles is the king of insult comedy and a legendary genius. He will always be remembered for his brash comedy and being the Godfather of roasting.
He's not dead yet.
No, Jeff Ross is the king of insult comedy now, but Don Rickles was the former.
Don was GREAT! I have never seen him sound so nice.
I’m blown away by 2 talents
2 generations apart connect. It shows how both are have grace
I always loved Don Rickles. One day in my early 20's my girlfriend took me to see Frank Sinatra at a very small venue so we were super close to the stage, like maybe 30 feet. The stage was circular - apparently the venue used to be used for cattle auctions.
And Frank Sinatra's opening act that night was ... Don Rickles! Man was he awesome! So quick, so funny. And that Frank Sinatra guy was no slouch either :)
The leader of the band was Sinatra's son Frank JR.
What a night
This was a very good interview. It was incredible that, even in the last years of his life, while being elderly, as soon as Don got a microphone in his hand he was 40 years old again, and "on." Zach did a great job with this interview. His comedic attempts were appreciated because he did not try to go too far with them. When one is in the presence of greatness it is best to bask in it and enjoy the moment than to attempt to prove you are on the same level and fail miserably. That's not a jab at Zach, it is respect for Don Rickles.
This was very heartwarming and it was nice to see Zach being polite. 😉
So many people comment on how nice it is for Zach to be polite to Don. But isn't that just respect that we seem to have lost as Generations go on. That should be par for the course. But today's generation doesn't seem willing to give it or earn it themselves. They just expect it
@@mklein3227 You don't get why they're saying it is all.

How blessed is Zach to be with Don.
Two very unique comedians. Great clip.
Oh Don we miss you ❤
Such a lovely, genuine conversation.. with Don being his classic self.
I first discovered Don via 'Get Smart' ... and further random 'films' and 'TV bits'... and various segments with Don chatting with Bob Newhart, another wonderful classic comedian. For me, Don established his own 'way' from his very earliest days... and if folks don't know his work, they're leaving out a whole 'dialect' of comedic expression.
Many thanks for posting this video.
