    I'm so pleased to see the Audi back to running right, and it sounds fantastic. the smaller jobs will fly along now it's running and spring around the corner for a good trip out. Thanks for the update. BTW you're so right about the wheels.

      Thank you. The Jury is out for the wheels but I may go for a darker bronze.

      @@garageofdad Yeah the colour doesn't come across on video too well but I suspect your right about the colour change, and maybe even the spacers although I've never been a fan of them in the past. when finished it's gonna be a special car.

    Great update and progress with a really lovely car, but please don't change the wheels which will give it the "driven through Halfords at speed" look, if you know what I mean.😉

      😄 I know exactly what you mean. The wheels I'm really after are Borbet type C's or Azevs but are hard to come by.

    Also. Is your heater still getting the car warm inside? Most of the time this era of audi the foam is gone inside the heater box valves wich will make you remove the dashboard to fix it proper.

    • @garageofdad
      @garageofdad  9 місяців тому

      Thanks for the heads up. Going to remove it first and have a look at that. The parts are cheap anyway and will future proof the unit

    I have an ‘87 5000 CS Turbo crank no start.. :(. Fuel pump works though :)

    • @garageofdad
      @garageofdad  5 місяців тому +1

      So long as there's a spark, look for vacuum leaks and try blanking off the brake servo outlet on the manifold.

    • @TopSecretVid
      @TopSecretVid 5 місяців тому

      @@garageofdad seems I have spark..Question what exactly should happen when I turn the key to the 'on' position? At least with regards to the fuel system? Should the fuel pump turn on to prime the system? Which my does not. And oddly enough I dont see any fuel level feedback on the fuel guage and that was working just fine. I assume I should at least see the fuel gauge move with the key in the on position?

    • @garageofdad
      @garageofdad  5 місяців тому +1

      @@TopSecretVid Yes the pump should work when the ignition is on. You can bypass the relay to run the pump (forget the terminal numbers) to rule out a faulty relay. My gauge barely works too but this doesn't affect the starting/running - just annoying! Does yours have an in tank or underbody fuel pump?

    • @TopSecretVid
      @TopSecretVid 5 місяців тому

      @@garageofdad in tank fuel pump. The fuel pump relay has a fuse slot in the top of it. I put a spare fuse in the fuel pump relay ..turn the key to on and i can hear the pump. I assume this still means the relay can be 'bad' and finding one is very difficult here in NY.

    • @garageofdad
      @garageofdad  5 місяців тому

      @@TopSecretVid That's the relay working if the pump is running. You can take off the inlet pipe to the metering unit momentarily, crank it over to see if it's pumping fuel through. (have a jamjar ready to catch the fuel!) If fuel's coming through I'd check for spark then vacuum leaks.

    Hello, happy new year and glad you got it running.
    Do you know what the final fuel pressure setting are?
    System Pressure
    Cold on WUR
    Warm on WUR
    I have the same motor in a VW T3 Microbus South African version and just need to confirm this and try to start it after replacing so many parts already
    Thanks.

      Hi thanks for the good wishes. It was such a while ago when I tested the pressures. But after searching through many videos, I found this one which helped me no end (Linked below) One thing I will say is that you should thoroughly check for vacuum leaks which I overlooked (mine was the brake servo) Good luck with yours. I think the newer style blinkers switch wil not fit. the newer style, If i remember correct the plugs are different on it. Just make the old ones work correctly again is the best option.
