    In Belgium you need to improvise to pass inspecion.
    Even upgraded metal braided brakelines are illegal, so we put a bit of shrinktube over it, so it looks like the stock rubber ones ;)

      Belgium car control don't know it's lowered if a car has plain black springs, or they might think it, but if you say you bought it like it is, they won'r check it. it's just another rip off to take money from people with a "special" tuning control, that costs you money money and more money, while a car get's balanced and put on a align bench after lowering.

    Also, you boys should have had flywheel resurfaced. You're new clutch is likely going to have some judder/chatter as it tries to engage on the old flywheel's uneven/glazed surface. I would have also replaced the transmission and motor mounts since you had easy access to them.......and I would have used a grinder/sander to clean up the suspension and brake hardware and painted them to increase service life. Otherwise, a decent job that you and your mates have done to keep this nice car on the road. : )

    Temperaturesensor: Blue für ECU, black for Dashboard (if you don´t know it). If there is again trouble: New cheap sensors may be bad as they´re leaving the factory in China. Don´t throw original sensors away if the readings (Ohm) are okay.

    8.55: removing the steering rack. No need to remove brake booster or anything. These C4 Audis have a steering rack service hatch in the driver side wheel well. You remove and replace the rack trough there. Sorry to point this out too late though. 😜

    In Poland, nobody gives a shit about those springs. I've got an audi 80 with lowered suspension (red srings, yellow shock absorbers), bigger brakes, chip, different seats, and lots of other stuff, and as long everything is working fine, the guy at the inspection is happy

  • @mediocreman2
    @mediocreman2 3 роки тому

    The Audi C4 chassis is one of the best made cars ever. No, I'm not joking. The quality of these cars is akin only to maybe '80s Mercedes.
    Congrats on all the work you did. We didn't get that engine in the USA, only the 2.8 V6 and the 2.2 Inline 5 turbo (AWD only).
    But FYI, you don't want to use any regular Power Steering Fluid in the rack. Only mineral oil: CHF-11S. And the rear brake calipers can be refurbished, since they are hard to find. That will fix your uneven wear issue, and most likely your parking brake lever on the caliper will need cleaning and lubricating.
    Looking forward to more videos of this car! It's funny to see how much room you have in the engine bay with that smaller engine, but even the 2.8 gives you plenty of room. They even fitted a V8 in this car.

    • @rotttttttttttten
      @rotttttttttttten 4 роки тому +1

      You have to apply body filler to bare metal otherwise it won’t stick. There isn’t moisture but it attracts moister that’s why it’s not a good idea to leave bare, so aslong as you paint it you’ll be fine!

    check for water in spare wheel compartment, it usually leaks behind rear bumper., i would suggest taking off front fender completley and removing foam padding behind it, it collects water and rusts front fenders form inside.

    From my experience with older Audis, 9 times out of 10 when the rear brakes are seized the culprit is typically the parking brake cables and in that case unfortunately you just have to bite the bullet and replace the parking brake cables as well as the rear cables. VW actually recommends replacing the cables whenever you replace the rear calipers.

    4:47 The brake discs were already very thin? They could be left on the car if they were of the required thickness. The corrosion of the brake disc doesn't mean anything. A dozen or several dozen km is enough and the brake disc will be automatically cleaned. If you replace the brake discs, remember to use only the highest quality components.
