- In this video, we put the Gigabyte M5 GF to the test with multiple gaming benchmarks. This laptop is powered by an Intel i5-12500H processor and an NVIDIA RTX 4050 6GB graphics card. It also features a 15.6” 1920x1080 display with a refresh rate of 144Hz, 16 GB DDR4 3200MHz memory, and a 512 GB M.2 NVME SSD.

The Nvidia GPUs have such bad results because they have a control that limits the FPS to 30 for battery power.

Something strange happened with the laptop you tested, mine is the same model and the GPU reaches 70-75w of consumption, while yours cannot go above 35-40w so it is lacking in performance for some reason.

I just brought gigabyte G5 kf with rtx 4060 a couple months ago.When I started to play games on it i just faced the same problem as like this video.I got much lower fps than I expected.i just got only around 30 to 40 fps on Assassins creed Unity at low preset. I updated all the graphics drivers but it ain't solved.Then i check my bios version and it was fb01 and after updating the bios version to fb09 the problem solved and i got around 90 to 100+ fps at maxed preset in Assassins creed Unity. And also it's performing much better in entertainment mode.

@@nosa6603 If u want to use it for 3D rendering then it's definetly worth .It has rtx 4060 graphics card, which is capable of handling 3D rendering tasks efficiently.And also had core i5 12500H which can provide good performance for 3D rendering.But there are some lags in this laptop especially like for gaming it has barely temping issue the cpu temp generally got 80 to 90+ while gaming The power bricks they provide are such a bad quality .Although it is a 150w power charger but it overhited so much.The gpu is also only 75w .So it's as usually performing less comparing to other 115w or 140w Rtx 4060 laptop Gpu .But with it's price range you have to consider those lags.Overall you can get a RTX 4060 laptop with such a low price and it's not a bad choice.

We've tested the Gigabyte G5 MF on FB03 bios version (no upgrades were available at the date of testing). We noticed heavy thermal throttle after few minutes of gameplay. They managed to do that by lowering the maximum power allowed on GPU and CPU. Only few game behaved normally: Halo Infinite, Cities Skylines, Valorant. I now do own this laptop and I was curious if the video was realistic. For this I specially downloaded Fortnite (normally I do not play this game). My Laptop came with only 8 GB of RAM so I upgraded it with another 16 GB stick (total 24 GB). Actually this was nessesary as I saw that Fortnite sometimes takes over 9 GB of RAM.
There is a huge difference in which performance mode you are running. In the GIGABYTE Control Software there are Performance, Entertainment, Power saving and Quiet-modes. I found that Entertainment delivers the best performance (even if "Performance" sounds like it would be better).
System: My Laptop with 24 GB on Entertainment-mode (45W CPU power limit, ~60W GPU power limit), plugged; Fortnite: Epic Preset, TAA; Recording using OBS.
The game was running at an average >40 FPS (99% FPS acording to Nvidia Overlay, Fortnite showed ~70 FPS as the low value at the same time) except for the beginning of the game. CPU usage: ~70%, GPU usage: up to 100%; CPU/GPU temp: ~80°C; Fans: very noisy (but not max speed).
As you can hear from my test it is not true that this laptop only is able to deliver avg. 25 FPS on Fortnite as it can be seen in the video.
Edit: I have also tested "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" on High Preset (only benchmark as I have not played the game itself). On Entertainment-Mode I get >40 99% FPS (actually often >60, without recording >80, normally >100 99% FPS). max. Temps: 87 (GPU hotspot according to hwinfo), 97 (CPU). This was with V-Sync off. With V-Sync half (72 FPS) the game has very stable 72 FPS in the benchmark with even only ~50W max. (GPU, instead of ~60) without a recording.
So all the graphics are technically better?
@angelohernandezfasano1775 Epic Preset is the same as in the video (highest preset in Fortnite), so same Image Quality, but I got higher FPS at the cost of more heat, noise and power draw.
I only have tested Fortnite. It also might be that when you select some "AI" like super sampling setting that you can get even better performance.
he didnt use the performance mode of this laptop so the rtx isnt automatcally chosen for gaming 😂 thats the problem here haha

This has to be the WORST showcase for the performance here. Im literally seeing terrible rigs play these games at higher fps, what is going on here?
Probably it was tested on battery mode. I heard that the RTX 4060 Version performs very badly on battery. You can also see that the GPU Wattage is often around 30W where it should be allowed to use at least 75W. It could also be some driver problem.
But on Halo Infinite it is avg. 120 FPS and is utilized with allmost 100% (this shows it is capable of delivering performance) so it is not clear what is going on.
as you can see the temperature was at 70° If there be higher fps, the temperature will bee higher too
he didnt use the gigabyte itself performance mode lol, so he uses igpu sometimes and not forcing the rtx 😂

You should always raide laptop and not let it sit on a desk for ventilation purpose

I use this laptop for 1 year and i can highly recommend this for gaming. Do not forget to download drivers for GPU!

Yes , but we had bad drivers or bad bios version. Only few games played like it should. From our community feedback all it's fixed now.
It's impossible for a PC with those specs to run most of those games at less than 30 fps. bruh, what's going on here?
When we benchmarked the laptop back in May (i think), it was running on the first BIOS revision with no updates.Because of that it did not have a proper power management. Out of the 40 games we tested only 3 had normal behaviour (Halo Infinite, Cities Skylines and Valorant). Trzeba było testować, raczej na ustawieniach średnich. 4050, to gpu low end a więc ustawienia niskie bądź średnie, to maksimum do komfortowej rozgrywki tak aby mieć około 60 fps. W tedy, CPU byłoby bardziej obciążone.
