- Awesome garage rocker from 1966, released on Syncro!! Great guitar break!!! Top two-sided moody garage 45!! Plug side is Gypsy girl. I know nothing about them, only that they were from NYC. Audio transferred from original vinyl 45.
They used to play at our high school dances, clubs, arena, ahh the good ole days when they even had live music at school dances.
Where in NYC was your high school? Do you know where the band was from specifically? I bought an early Echoplex EP-1 tape delay (1964-65 era model) about 20 years ago, and it came from a seller in Long Island, NY. It has “The Staccatos” written on the lid, in black marker.
Are you still with us Squeky? I'm 64, my neighbor lady who was in her 30's told me when I was a teenager back in the 70's that The Beach Boys would actually play on the beach in Washington State when she was younger and she saw them there. I lived in the state capitol, Olympia at the time. The beach is about 2 hours away from there.
I'm thinking of the Canadian band the Staccatos who played in our area east of Toronto during the late 60's and early 70's different band.@@TimeWarper59
This was when Rock Music was on top 1966 because 1964 & 5 the British Invasion was at the forefront. From 1967 thru 1972 Psychedelic Music with a Counter Culture Revolution with Hippies and the Vietnam War Era. This is a great song dispite the things taking place in the 60's, people that loved music knew how to Rock. Dispite what else took place the 60's were wonderful times.
Love the early punk , psych then. I was 9 yr old.
It's hard to believe that two of the most famous names in rock/pop were involved with this record: Herb Abramson (Atlantic Records) and Dick Goodman ("The Flying Saucer")!
masterclass breakup song. great upload

Fantástic Glendoras 👌 Garage 🤘
I'm doin fine, thanks. '66 was a great year, that's for sure. ;)
I agree I think 1966 was the bust out here for the garage Rock sound
Yeah man! I was a singing drummer in a short-lived band called the Rippers. I wanted 'The Ashes' but Rippers was stenciled on the bass drum so.... Great year!!
I love garage punk seeds music machine the standels question mark and the mysteriouns to name but a few thanks for the great music
Love the early garage,/.,punk ,,/.psych tunes ,; originally psych the best ; ,65-66 NAM era!
Not to be confused with the Canadian group that became Five Man Electrical Band. Nice discovery, Mathias.
Thanks! These chaps were from NYC. 👍🏽
Exactly what I thought when I first heard the song, too. :)
Nice!!
Thanks for your comment! Comped or not, the Syncro 45 does not show up too often. It was also released on Davy Jones Presents label credited to Vinnie Basile.
cool trivia
..a double-sided goodie indeed, but not really rare, since it has been comped under the moniker Vinnie Basile & the Staccatos on Follow That Munster, Strange Things, Quagmire, and The Electric Coffee House (recently)...(I guess that's the same outing)
At any rate, thanks a lot for sharing your gems here!
Glen, how's it going? Do you think 1966 was at its prime for garage bands? Sounds like it.
Name from the tv show of the time JOHNY STACCATO .
sounds like the beatles and the yardbirds
Only ten times better!! 😀
The start sounds like I'm Not Your Stepping Stone by the Monkees.
Is this the band that became the 5 Man Electrical Band?
I have the same question.
@@clicerio2 Well, according to ALLMUSIC, they became the 5 Man Electrical Band with a lead singer named Lee Emmerson. From Canada. They did a number of shows with The Guess Who
Not same as Staccatos (Canada) that became 5 Man Electrical Band.
Here is info on this disc

@@leeroth5604 Dickie Goodman as producer? Same guy with all the goofy 'flying saucer' records in the 50's?
how did you get this record?
I believe I found it through eBay.
@@Glendoras i tried that but i could not find a copy
@@hern01134 try discogs, there are a few copies available of the 2nd press on Davy Jones Presents label. I actually have a copy of that one too.
@@Glendoras thanks i found one for $28.99
@@hern01134 It’s an awesome 45 well worth getting. 😊👍🏽
I don't think garage Rock reached its prime until the 1970s the 70s gave way to heavy metal Hard Rock
