i would have pushed harder to get the full $50 back ,those sellers otherwise never learn if you laugh it off.
The Cent per point score should be ignored if not scraped. If 10 cents is a good score, This one cost $350 and scored 5 cents. So, if they spend $700 on it , it would score 10 cents and be considered good bargain. Which is not even close to reality. For $700 you could build something much better. I've felt like pointing this out for a long while, this case really shows how inaccurate the point system is.

Thanks for the feedback, that makes sense and this metric isn’t perfect, but it’s a good sanity check for builds we think are good value on the budget side.
We will do better to not say “10 cents or less is a good score” because it is relative to a ton of other variables.
Benchmark scores tend to scale linearly but that doesn't mean the price/performance does. There is a certain amount you spend just to build 'an computer', regardless of spec and a conscientiously build midrange system is likely to deliver the best value for money.
The problem is there are many different ways to quantify PC performance and they are not interchangeable. Their method also doesn't take into account the difference between new and used parts. An all new build with the same spec would score considerably worse than a used parts version but there is value there which is not being accounted for. You also can't account for things like quality of components. Not all 2060s are made the same and a cheap Acer blower GPU doesn't have the same value as a 2060 XC. Then there are other things like upgradability that aren't taken into account. I would much rather have a build in a budget consumer case than some crappy, ugly OEM case with a cheaply made MB and a middling quality OEM PSU. This Acer Nitro Suck Face is an objectively worse deal than virtually any same spec custom build constructed with even the cheapest consumer major components.

Disappointing that you only got 20$ back. not only does it not cover the difference between a 2060 and a 2070 but also the listing shows it was in new condition which it obviously was not.
then again I'm not the one making a video about it, but it kinda felt like it was rewarding a dishonest and ignorant seller. As someone who buys from ebay this entire experience would put me off from this seller.
yea lotta D bags on ebax, got a 1080 used in said "works great! Like new condition" sounded like a jet and instantly hit 85c and throttled itself to be like -300 MHZ boost clock. When confronted seller was like "well its not gonna work like brand new" LOL.

I admit though if you haven't already might want to look into repasting, it's common with GPUs especially that old and the paste it has on it is probably very dry

Man, with a seller that big, I'd open a case with eBay and ding 'em for it. $20 is not ok when the price differential on the GPU is $50. Covered under the eBay guarantee as 'item not as described'.
You got a better deal than I did. I paid $300 for a PC that came with an i7 8700k, GTX 1060 6GB, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Mine didn't come with a PSU or any storage. I did get an 240mm AIO cooler and a case with 7 fans as well which I suppose could justify the price I paid.

For the way the GPU looked like. You should've disassembled it and replaced the thermal paste also. Not to mention the heatsink, if the fan looked how it looked, imagine what was on the heatsink.
even considering you may need to buy little better ram and better cpu cooler (maybe a better case) this is a insane deal
those propietary motherboards acer uses are hard to transplant into a new case, it is use it as is and then sell it or go to ewaste

Love all your videos. I watch them all. I do the same thing you guys do, but i keep it on the low. My biggest hatred ever is packing peanuts. Every time i buy anything in a giant box like a new full tower case and in the box is packing peanuts, i spend 2 days sweeping up the peanuts.

You should compare RX 580 2048 vs a intel arc a380
I'm surprised with the age of the pc and condition it was in you didn't pull apart the gpu to clean and repaste.
I am using an i7 9700KF and it's in turbo mode so it runs at 4.6ghz. I really don't know why they decided to leave out hyperthreading on this one, but it's still a good solid CPU. single core horsepower is solid. I have it paired with 32gb 3200 mhz ram and a 6700 xt - it works for me very well
9700KF has hyperthreading, probably this particular CPU is somewhat defective. Thus lower price.
@@aleksazunjic9672 nope. the entirety of 9th gen except the i9-9900k/kf has no hyperthreading. the i3 is 4c4t, the i5s are 6c6t and the i7s are 8c8t. Only outlier is the i9 with 8c16t

I had almost that exact same Acer, except mine had a 1050 and an i5 8400. It was absolute garbage, it's only redeeming quality was 15 minutes of gaming it would get so hot you could heat a room with it.
Please tell me you guys flipped the fan on the cpu cooler, because it's definitely not supposed to suck air into the heatsink. I know an i7 runs hot, but even with a crappy fan cooler like that one, it shouldn't always be on 80c+ just while gaming.

Noticed the 9700 was staying at 3.6 ghz, did they underclock the cpu ?
Probably some weird OEM motherboard shenanigans, they tend to stick very closely to official Intel power draw specs

That’s an acer 2060 I bought a gaming oc that had a 2060 super in it for 150 total just no ssd and no ram with a 10700 and I recognize the design from a distance
Did any one notice the solid metal panel in the front behind the plastic front, im glad there wasnt a 2070 in it.
Looking at how much time you guys spent getting it to an acceptable point I think the 330.00 is too high. Had it been somewhat clean and maybe a little better refund on the gpu, maybe. Don't know that I would buy again from that seller on ebay though.

Should have reapplied thermal paste to GPU. Step 1 in all used cards, especially 2 generations old blower style.

What are the difference between a 2060 and 2080, I think asking for only $50 is being generous on your end. I would definitely push them to at least get the extra $30 that you asked for.

I used to sell Panasonic Toughbooks on Ebay, if the seller sent that to me, in that condition with the wrong GPU, he would have gotten a negative review from me. That's just plain sloppy and lazy. And to blow off your $50? Big thumbs down, it's a matter of principle.
