    Family member bought a Kia, and another a Hyundai. 3 years and 4 years old, both having engine problems, paint problems, plastics breaking.. for a cheap car you’re getting something you know will last. Cheap cars are cheap cars, this doesn’t seem like it should be as cheap as it is in todays climate.

    Probably the main competitor is the Honda HR-V. It's a good thing the HR-V avoided putting that 1.5 L Turbo oil diluter in and went with the less powerful, but more reliable, 2.0 L. Those that want a little better mileage and don't need more legroom than the Toyota offers will probably love the Corolla Cross. Those that want more rear legroom or a bit more composure on the road will probably go with the Honda. Those that want AWD should probably go with the Subaru Crosstrek, because Subaru is king when it comes to AWD traction. It's pretty funny that these vehicles are being labeled "sport utility vehicles". They're station wagons. There's nothing wrong with that, but these aren't rough and tumble off road machines. They're compact cars that are slightly elevated with an extended roofline instead of a trunk or hatch.

    I can't say for sure, but the road noise can sometimes be as simple as the wrong brand of tires. I have owned several cars, and 4 of them were Hondas (notorious for road noise) and sometimes the brand of tires makes a significant difference.

      @@ladyj5682 I don't like the RAV4 at all, the inside I feel is ugly, and it just doesn't have the same drive quality as a Honda SUV, I have driven both. The highlander would be my top choice, but that is out of my price range for a commuter vehicle and a bit too big. I couldn't get an HRV in a reasonable amount of time so I went with a new Honda CRV and I love it so far!

    • @ladyj5682
      @ladyj5682 Рік тому

      @bettysmith4527 I can see that. Toyota isn't known for the features they put on the inside but the engine and transmission reliability. I drove a 2012 Honda CRV and a 2012 Honda Accord both brand new. The Accord drove like a tin can and the pic up and go of CRV was not even as good as the 2012 Toyota Camry. I not that impressed with the Rav 4 as far as looks until the 2019 models started. The longetivity and reliability of Toyota is what keeps me coming back. In 2012, I brought the brand new 2012 Camry, and it outshined Honda to me. The CRV and Rav 4 are a toss-up, but bc of my good experience with Toyota, more than likely a 2019 model Rav 4 is in my future. Recently I gave my sister my Toyota Camry in excellent condition and got. Cadallic XTS. I am looking for a reasonable side car with ability to carry things like a small truck. Considering CRV or Toyota Scion. I will never find a Rav 4 at a reasonable price with decent miles, I don't think

      Toyota CVT's are reliable. The power is not enough to affect it. The new 10 speed automatics are too big and inefficient for this. Also Toyota uses a fixed 1st gear in Corolla so maybe in this as well.

    I really am digging the Corolla Cross and will seriously consider it in AWD when I move back to Buffalo,NY from Florida. I currently own a 2020 GMC 😅Terrain Denali FWD. I really like it but it’s still a GM with a turbo and direct injection only so I will have concerns about its longevity as it ages. I like the bells and whistles but I’m also wanting to get back to basic with my next vehicle and purchase something more for value, utility and all those important but boring things. The noisy interior is a concern for me. I will have to drive one to see how much it bothers me. I wonder if would be worth popping off the door panels and taking out the seats and carpeting to add sound deadening since this seems like a vehicle I’d buy and keep for years and years.

      I think the issue is that unless you custom order a vehicle, the optional equipment is added at the factory in any number of configurations and is listed on the window sticker by the manufacturer, so in a sense, it's "pre-sold" with the car and can't be undone at the dealership level. My car came with mats, a roof rack, mud flaps and a door edge guard. The MSRP includes these add-ons. If the car is resold in the future, the buyer can look up the original sticker and see that mats came with the car and expect them to be included.

    Combined legroom is not a good nor accurate way of measuring legroom as diff makers measure differently and due to how adjustable the front seats are it will impact back leg room. Min and max legroom should be measured independently for front and rear rows.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  2 роки тому

      Even if it’s not perfect, I can’t line every vehicle in the class up next to each other and move the seats all different ways and take measurements from every angle. Regardless, every brand will credit themselves as much as possible for measurements and it’s the one standard everyone can go off.

    To be fair, the street on which you start driving at 0:19 looks extremely rough! It REALLY needs to be resurfaced. I think probably most cars riding on such a surface would have road noise on some level, and the type/brand of tire also influences noise. I wonder why you didn't pick a more normal, smoother street for this drive. 🤔

No issues but would like to move up to the hybrid

  • @biggysground
    @biggysground 10 місяців тому

    I own the AWD and you have made at the very least 5 mistakes in this report. Mine does have the upgrades in the radio but does not have remote start so it is not the top line radio. It is not noisy on roads esp if the roads are not torn up like yours is (bad play IMHO). The engine has direct injection for fuel economy AND port injection to help keep the valves clean of debri build up which is a major plus in this engine. It also has the lane sensors and collision avoidance, again not the top line and finally I am 6 feet tall and have no issue with a rear passenger seating behind me. You show a reclined car seat jumbo size (again a bad play IMHO) taking up lots of room. I suggest you buy a Nissan or better yet a BMW to suite your off beat lifestyle.

    • @PrimeAutotainment

      What year is it? And is it hybrid? Because the things I stated are not false.
      - noisy, compared to the competition tested in the exact same road surfaces (including a smooth concrete surface)..it’s objectively louder with decibel measurements.
      - yes, direct and port.
      - not a “jumbo” size. It’s just not a “small” size. It’s the “safe” size. Regardless..it has less legroom than some competitors including some that have smaller exterior dimensions.
      - off beat lifestyle lol..dude I drive a 2004 Toyota..

    Toyota gas mileage claims are a scam. Do a pencil and paper test at the pump and you will find these Toyota cars don’t get near the miles per gallon that they say. For example. Our 2024 RAV4 Hybrid does not get the 38mpg on the highway or the 40 mpg in the city. Ours gets between 28 and 30 mpg. Toyota should be held accountable for this misrepresentation of their vehicles.
