How much of that Video playback energy is actually saved on CPU vs a more efficient video decoder? Of course the CPU is doing stuff. But where are the savings in this test? Just a though, not sure if the video chip kicks in for that, but I would assume so?
The video play "comparison" at 1:40 ish is incomplete and difficult to interpret because you don't give any indication of how each operating system handles the task. If the Wintel system chooses the minimum CPU load and speed for the task, for example, and the Mac systems pay no attention to such detail (which could be built in, if necessary) then the difference is likely meaningless. If the converse is true then the Wintel system offers a very significant saving.

Wow...that uplift.
The bug for latency was just incorrect reporting, it wasn't really slower
Thanks for the update
Someone did a test and the new AMD chip actually uses only a watt or 2 more than the Qualcomm chip. But they are shipping OLED devices that eat up the extra power.
All the tens of people that bought ryzen 9000 are gonna be pumped about this update
I wouldn't be surprised if AMD "fixed" Ryzen 9000 since the launch did appear a bit rushed (coupled with potential Windows scheduler issues).
Of course the matter was over emphasised but clickbait these days are par for the course.
Right? With the problems it was just a little faster than the 7000 series - but used almost half the power! Really, I can understand saying it was a bad upgrade for anyone with a 7000 CPU. But to badmouth it the way everyone did...
Everyone is so locked on "I will have the best of the best, with the best 480mm water cooler with the best custom made block...." that they forget 95% of buyers don't live on lala land.
We have to weight cost, power usage, thermals (we don't have the luxury of "jet taking of full tower with 15 fans") and everything else.
Yes, it's all well and good saying "buy DDR6000 with extra low latency". But what if I get a normal DDR5 6000, and use the difference to upgrade from one 9600 to one 9800 Wouldn't it more than make up to the lower latency? Or if I forgo the 4080 to one 4070, and use the difference to just buy more and faster storage?
Compromises, compromises. I don't live on lala land.

ARM is RISC, x86 *used* to be full bore CISC. Now, x86 is essentially using a translation layer to run on a RISC chip. The performance advantage of ARM is tied to the instruction set. That video touting Intel battery life is disengenuous. That's going to be all about the size of the battery. "Yay, look how long you can watch a video! Oh, that? Ignore the larger battery!"
Companies are treating their official launches as free beta tests now, they launch half-baked stuff and have the buyers work as free beta testers...
Sounds like software companies. Funny how the entire industry uses the same practices. It’s almost as if they don’t care if you buy their crap now or later.
Gonna sell my 4090 a couple months before the 5090 comes out. I'll be running off onboard video for a while but should be able to get a little more for the card that way. Then I'll pick up the 5090 when it finally comes out. This is my plan.
Welcome to game meld! Where people mald in the comment section!
That's bullshit. They aren't discontinuing the 4090 so fast. Never done this never will
Don't buy a 4000 series "JUST BECAUSE" they're not going to manufacture it anymore. Save your money.
Then 9950x AVX512 causes high power consumption and drops clock speed.🙂
I'm waiting for the leak about the AMD gpu refreshes for the 7000 series to pan out. I want the 7950 or 7990XTX variant that may appear. (I forget if it was given the 50 or 90 moniker.)
Nvidia can keep their GPU's. They may be nice, but they cost too much for something that's just going to be replaced repeatedly due to gaming resource requirements always getting increased.
@techyescity , did you do these tests with the latest agesa update that lowered the inter ccd latency?
Even with the update, the latency figures are over 3x higher than the other areas. Doesn't seem fixed to me.
amd has gone mad. first the ryzen 9000 series underperforms and disappoints. now the board prices are up to the moon. 9000 series wasn't selling as is, now this is gonna further plummet down amd's sales.
I believe seasonic power supply is the best from what what i heard right ?
I'm waiting for nvidia 5090-whatever for laptop. Right now I'm expecting a new MSI Titan revision, but, whatever manufacturer I go with It will be interesting to see what Processors are available, as well as well as who's got LPCAMM2, and who's supporting Gen 5 SSDs with a cooling solution enough that the thing doesn't melt 5 mins after turning on. :P
Basically I'm looking for the angriest, hairiest, biggest, scariest $6500 laptop I can fit in a bag and carry.
I keep looking for videos that will predict and speculate on what something like that will look like, and what maximum display resolutions technologies might be employed, but, I'm finding zero next-gen fantasy laptop build speculations from anyone.
Maybe I'm not wording my searches proper. Je ne sais pas.

If an update can fix AMD 9000 and improve it's performance, I guarantee you they could drop updates for all their older CPU series as well and improve their performance as well.
There's a difference between fixing a bug that degraded performance that should be there vs adding addition performance.
my 7500f is waiting for that 😄
Just a "devil's advocate" thought:
What if the X870E motherboards supporting higher memory speeds now maybe a hint to an infinity fabric change with the possibility of Ryzen 10,00? Oh God!! A Ryzen X CPU?!? That could throw naming of AMD CPUs in the gutter!! Yikes!!
Aren't X670E and X870E motherboards using the same Promontory 21 chips anyway so they're literally the same boards?!
How much of that Video playback energy is actually saved on CPU vs a more efficient video decoder?
Of course the CPU is doing stuff. But where are the savings in this test? Just a though, not sure if the video chip kicks in for that, but I would assume so?
The 800 series boards add USB 4
The video play "comparison" at 1:40 ish is incomplete and difficult to interpret because you don't give any indication of how each operating system handles the task. If the Wintel system chooses the minimum CPU load and speed for the task, for example, and the Mac systems pay no attention to such detail (which could be built in, if necessary) then the difference is likely meaningless. If the converse is true then the Wintel system offers a very significant saving.
Do you collect DBZ shirts too? I see you wearing them often. I currently have about 15 different Dragonball related shirts, but I've probably lost at least twice that. It's an odd thing to collect, but I respect it lol
Im pumped for a 4090 on sale for $500.
Looks like intel is still focusing on marketing. Seems like the personel with the highest qualification are in the marketing department of this company.
ARM / x86 ?? ? This test had nothing to do with the CPU architecture. It demonstrates the efficiency of the hardware decoder. The screen will also play a big role as will the battery size (as mentioned). And lastly, we should remember that the video format plays a role. Was the video format even supported in the M-series computers? Probably, but it is still not clear. I would assume some games are being played otherwise Intel would be far more forthcoming when bragging about their product. But either way, it is looking good!
Intel selling smoke and mirrors as usual. Won't help their dying company.
Well, Ryzen - all generations - hasn't has the best intercore latencies (not quite as awful as 9000 series mind you, but slightly worse then Intel's intercore latencies), but happy they where able to improve it on 9000 series. Wonder if this also applies to 7000 series? Anyways, have to see what this does in real world games.
Still on x370 with 5800x3D, literally AMD selling BS if you ask me.

Guys, 800$ ain't that bad for PREMIUM mobo. Premium mobo was way over 1000$ usually. With some over 2K.
1400$ for a premium GPU like 4090 ain't that bad. Yes utns expensive. Not so much compare to the typical market of it.
Think people, think.
Premium mobo doesn't add any more performance though unlike a GPU.
@@JimmyChino55 The "premium" 4090 is *barely* faster than the "standard" 4090 while costing hundreds more.
4090: $1600.
4090 "Asus Matrix Platinum": $3200. (Liquid cooled, around 3% faster)
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 White OC Edition: $2200. (Air cooled, easily within margin of error faster.)
The same applies to all "premium" versions of graphics cards. That 50MHz clock boost isn't worth $600.
@@tim3172 I would say any 4090 is classed as a premium product though especially when compared to say a 4060.
A $1500 4090 is 3x faster than a $300 4060. With motherboards though an $800 premium board is not delivering 3x the performance of a $100 budget board which is why spending big money on a motherboard is probably the biggest waste of money when building a PC.
Amd finally gets a win and then they pull this ish and fleece their customers. 9800x3d tests weren't what they wanted so they bump the price of the 7800x3d and artificially mess with stock. The 7600x3d bundle is now what the 7800x3d bundle was and us now currently priced at 600. I was going to finally make the jump to amd but after seeing this and all the memory issues I will be waiting and getting the next intel chips. I have never had an issue with intel. But amd has always been headaches hence never going back. They had a chance to corner the gaming market but instead they are trying to bleed their consumers. Most gamers aren't trying to spend 100+ extra on a cpu for 10 fps. Some might but you can get a 7700x for 250 right now. At 1440p+ the 3d chips really dont even matter. We tested my buddies, it's not worth 150 extra. Not at all. Watch and see how amd continues the fleece.
