I played this before reading berserk and now coming back to it the final area reminds me a lot of the eclipse! I could've figured Fromsoftware were inspired by berserk even before they made the souls games
2:46 "Are you searching for the Darkness too?" -Dark Boss "Do you seek everlasting Demon's Souls?" -King Alant ""Brave Undead... You have proven yourself to me. Now... become one with the Dark." -Queen Nashandra I think I see a pattern here. :0
@The Maker of Contact wtf it literally released a year AFTER ds2. And it kinda does, it has Patches and it also has Moonlight Greatsword, and there's a lot of Bloodborne references in DS1, 2 and especially 3, way too many
For anyone wondering what would happen if you try to beat the game without the Moonlight Sword.I did a save where I got everything but Myu's Armor and the only thing left was to put Idol on the altar thing but I left the Moonlight where you put it in the water and I never picked it up.I then beat the game without the Moonlight Sword and the ending scene is just a set of black screens with text that say: Grave misfortune befall those who behold the Idol found staring into the darkness. The darkness found a replacement and fell into sleep again... Ancient legend has come to pass. Then it just goes to the credits
I know this reply is 6 years late, but I only heard of King's Field recently and decided to play and it was a lot of fun. You can still get the bad ending even if you restored the Moonlight Sword, the last hit to the final boss has to be with the Moonlight Sword if you want the good ending. You can hit the boss with the Moonlight Sword, but if you switch weapons for the final blow it will be the bad ending.
Ok, so if I'm not mistaken, this darkness/seed of evil was born of the fighting between Seath and Guyra, which kinda makes sense given they're the two halves of a God that should be working together but aren't. Also, I'm pretty sure that this darkness is more closely tied to the final boss of the first king's field, while the second and third games focused specifically on Guyra and Seath respectively. So we kinda get a proper conclusion with this one, Guyra and Seath, having outlived their purposes, were finally dealt with by the end of king's field 3, while the evil created from their fighting is dealt with in 4. Think of it like a machine that creates pollution, first you have to shut off the machine (Seath and Guyra), and then you have to clean up the already-made pollution that's now left behind (the darkness)
I'm not 100% sure on this, but lorewise, the boss may be the "seed of evil", a being used to control the creations of the Earth god that pulled a HAL-9000 so to speak, in that it decided total elimination is the only solution. It literally acts like a plant, branching out and spreading its influence to all things. I think the weird white monsters are the seed's spawn, and the purple ones are beings of pure Dark magic.
5:05 The finale still makes me feel shivering and cold all along my back, and the melody squeezes out a silent cry even after almost 10 years. A long time ago, it was THIS THING that was meant when it was said RPG.
I recall the ending cinematic, but I do not recall the ending text in the NTSC version of the game. Admittedly, I have not seen the game ending in many years; I may simply have forgotten. Reading the ending cinematic text, after having played through Dark Souls, I immediately thought of "Praise the Sun!"
Thank you for this walkthrough, I tried relying on my own senses as far as I could but there were several times where I naturally had no clue where the fuck to go/what to do. Now questioning whether to play the Echo Night or Shadow Tower games next...
Thank you so much for uploading this playthrough!! Watched the whole thing with my sister. I became really interested in Kings Field IV but the game is quite expensive for the PS2.. the soundtrack, the characters, and the areas were so memorable. Seeing this area for the first time was amazing.
One thing that helped me was on the maze like area I just ran through past all the enemies but I would pause every 10-20 seconds and check the "Kings Map" under Items. It is a very easy map to follow the way out.
So is wearing the thieves necklace is what made it possible for you to walk all the way through the stomach without having to fight any of the enemies?
i think both "bosses" were a joke. it literally took 10-15 hits to kill the main boss, and it takes 3 hits to kill the monster in the "underworld" or "hell".
i completed the game, though i never unlocked the door that says "you are not kingly" where did you find the key for that? youve also made me aware of a crystal or 2 that i was missing and some hidden passages. it was hells own job in the very last stage, i went in there with 6 shard vials full and fought every enemy that i came accross, didnt realise it could be a walk through! many thanks for uploading these my friend, youve put a few questions to rest that ive had for over a decade now! if you could tell me where the kings key is to be found, i would be eternally grateful. do you remember where the area "Treasury"? i think the puzzle to find the ring is in there. i dont exactly remember how to solve the puzzle so you'll need to look that up. keep replying if you need more help :)
One question: Where is the water dagger? I consulted your video( part after getting holy sword, room with the coffin and skeletons) and could not find it. Thanks. This video guide is a lifesaver great job!!
I wonder if you would get the good ending if you hit the final boss with the Moonlight Sword Magic? That way you could just stand back and hit him three times. Probably not, that would be too easy.
The atmosphere and story of this game seem a lot better than dark souls, from soft needs to make a dark souls like game that isn't so depressing where everything is dead and there is no civilization or kingdoms, they should make a "light side" version of dark souls
This feels like Berserk so much it's haunting. Beautiful.

imagine King's field is actually a prequel to demon's souls, and demon's souls is a prequel to Dark Souls and Bloodborne is a sequel to Dark Souls 3

Really? I always thought you were killing that exiled Prince that returned and destroyed the kingdom with darkness that you read about in the lore.
God tier soundtrack, plin plon levels of classic
I miss this game. what a masterpiece

That ending music in the credits is so ambient and relaxing. :3
I thought in the end you were sucked in by a monster and you killed its heart, but that makes more sense

They did. It's called Dark Souls 2.
No one in the entire World has never made a speedrun of this game:(
what speedrun, or do you mean speedwalk :)
They have now :)
I wish it was something like ng + after ending.
