I'd absolutely recommend watching the main guide videos for Mamamoo because they're not your garden variety kpop group and the guides will give you more context for their unique niche in the industry besides introducing you to the members. There are three main guide videos. I'd watch them in this order: Why Mamamoo is the Most Underrated Kpop Group. Ignore the clickbait title - it's an excellent video essay about the group. Introducing Mamamoo by Purple Hawke (re-upload by Mooffin). A two part guide to the members from 2020. The Mamamoo Introduction Guide of 2022 by Moo YT. An update of Purple Hawke's guide, also in two parts. The first part introduces the members and the second goes through a timeline of their discography. Mamamoo started out with a retro concept that mixed the sounds of big band swing jazz with 60's rock & soul. Other songs with MVs from their retro era include Don't Be Happy, Peppermint Chocolate, Piano Man and Ahh Oop! Their first #1 hit was You're the Best in 2016, which has more of a funky 70's sound. Their biggest hit was Hip from 2019, which is a combo of a diss track mocking their haters with a message song that re-defines Hip to mean being yourself and doing your own thing rather than the usual slang meaning of cool or trendy. Hip was their first single after their epic and historic 4 Season 4 Color series - 4 EPs released in a one year time span (one album per season) that comprise the most complex and ambitious project ever done by a girl group. The 4S4C title tracks (Starry Night, Egotistic, Wind Flower, Gogobebe) and Paint Me, the pre-release theme song for the project, are essential Mamamoo. Paint Me is also one of their main vocal masterpieces in a recording studio along with I Miss You and Where Are We Now. As you can probably tell from the Killing Voice and It's Live videos, Mamamoo is best when they're live. Some of the must-see MMM live videos include the Immortal Songs Medley, which was filmed at a MMM concert in 2017, all of their 14 spectacular appearances on the Immortal Songs 2 singing competition tv show between 2015-19, and I Miss You from the 2019 competition tv show Queendom. When you've gotten to know the group you'll fall in love with them and then you should watch the MV for I Love Too, a song they wrote for their fans which was filmed live at a MMM concert in 2016. Bring tissues. And when you've got the time to be gobsmacked for 4+ hours straight watch their 4 Seasons F/W concert from 2019. And finally, each member has a very successful solo career as well and in recent years they've spent as much or more time on solo and subunit projects as group stuff. When you're ready to explore their solo work moomoos will have plenty of recommendations for you. Have fun!
If you're going to do a guide, you're in luck because Mamamoo happens to have one of the best 😊 It's the "Introducing Mamamoo (re-upload from PurpleHawke)" guide. It's actually 2 videos of a little over 20 minutes each. It mainly focuses on the members (so not that many spoilers) and is very funny. Which, tbf, is not that impressive as these ladies are hilarious, but the editing is great and does an excellent job of informing you about their characters. That's why it's still relevant, even if it is an old video.
Please react to complete updated documentary/guide : "Why mamamoo most underated group kpop " that talks all aspects mamamoo released last year! Its updated and all the footage is 4k and made at professional quality level. Although others like purple hawke and moo Yt are good --> they are too outdated.
1 cm. The members being close friends can rip into each other in the way only the closest friends can get away with to the hilarity of everyone watching them... 1cm was the first time their CEO made them turn it into a song. More followed. The MV on Mamamoo's channel has subtitles ua-cam.com/video/I02F1lvhguw/v-deo.htmlsi=7KjBekxyaH_SbZnK but the one from Stone Music Entertainment channel doesn't. That happens a lot. Moonbyul and Seulgi made a MV together, Selfish. Nothing epic, just some friends having fun on the side.
@@RoldyReactss the mv for sure and the live performance I like is PIANO MAN @ Gaon Chart KPOP Awards ( Best Quality). Ya know, when they were just starting out they had a gig at Kool FM radio station and performed a live BLUES cover of Christina Aguilera's SAVE ME FROM MYSELF. You might dig that one too!
think might like mamamoo "Wanna be myself" for synth and bass and retro bit style too. though its a fitness wear mv ..its so good that it could been a lead track for album
You absolutely should do a guide. They are great humans as well as great artists. The Purple Hawk one is my favorite but the Moo_Yt is more up to date. Why Mamamoo is the most underated group (ignore the title) is a great essay on their impact on Kpop. Pick one or do them all. Mr Ambiguous is their debut, but there are a couple of pre debut that you might want to keep in mind. Don't be Happy is far and away my favorite of the two, and they redid it in 2022 so if you like the comparison over time, do both. A lot of people like the other, Pepermint Chocolate, but I'm not that fond. Starry Night was a grower for me, when I first heard it. I absolutely love it now. It is part of their 4 Seasons/4 Colors project where they did 4 mini albums in a year each one under the control of one of the members. Yellow Flower (Hwasa), Red Moon (Moonbyul), Blue;s (Solar) and White Wind (Wheein). The project was introduced with Paint Me and the title tracks are Starry Night, Egotistic, Wind Flower, and Gogobebe. In the fall of 2022 they did a compilation album called Mamamoo the Best, where they rerecorded their award show or concert versions of their songs or reworked songs that had included features or ones that they weren't satisfied with. The version of Starry Night on that would absolutely satisfy your desire for something more epic.
They did also Where are we now to that same settings, i suggext to watch the official mv first then it's live video. Where are we now song reflects their 7 year anniversary journey in the industry
They did have Killing Voice (you can find those videos in the official Killing Verse playlist), but Mamamoo were indeed the first idol/pop group to come on Killing Voice.
Enjoyed this reaction very much. Another great, funny song is "Um Ah Oh Yeah". Make sure you get the version with the subtitles tho - it helps explain the end of the MV.
thanks for reacting Mamamoo, i would like to recommend INTRODUCING MAMAMOO by Purple Hawke Part 1 & 2 ( abt. the members) , then if you want to know more abt. the group, here's another one ,The MAMAMOO Introduction Guide of 2022 (part 2, it's abt. the group). Many reactors skip the group introduction guide which i myself believe this kind of guide will let you know more abt. the group's growth. enjoy !
For more jazz like Mr. Ambiguous I suggest Piano Man. It was released also in 2014 directly after and is their second single. For another vocal attack master class ballad like I Miss You I suggest Where Are We Now. It also has a It's Live band version that was performed on the same day as the Mr. Ambiguous band version that you just watched that you can react to and that I know you will love.
It's worse than doing them dirty. Their CEO is established in Korean music so he had a bunch of the top people in the Korean music scene come play the roles of the crew to support Mamamoo's debut. The woman going at them like that is the most senoir of all senior singers tearing into them in front of all the other top people in music. That's why they were barely holding back tears. Notice how Wheein realizes the prank a beat before the other members. Takes a joker to know one.
I know I told you not to go too crazy and binge all the way through Dreamcatcher's discography but, sheesh, it's been 4 whole days. We're going into withdrawal. Just kidding (see below)... Mamamoo is pretty amazing. I discovered them early in my kpop journey and immediately fell in love with their music. They're one of my top 5 groups. Like you, I was initially drawn in by their jazzy style, which I love, and it just got better from there. They are considered one of the top tier vocal groups for a reason. And Moonbyul is easily in the top 5 best rappers in kpop. They're also pretty quirky and chaotic which is just icing on the cake. If I might make a suggestion. It looks like you're doing regular reactions for 4 or 5 groups. My suggestion would be to set aside one day a week for each group. Like Mamamoo Monday and Dreamcatcher Friday (or whatever) This will allow you to do a little planning, a little scheduling, which might make things a little easier on you. You tend to push out more than one video per day. You can focus on one group and do multiple reactions, or you could do longer videos for that group. Or you can stack them with something else, do you that day's group and add in some comp videos or new group reactions or whatever. On the days that aren't dedicated to a group you can do whatever you want. Watch something random, take a nap, whatever. Not sure if all that made sense. It's stupid late and I need sleep. 😋 I think you can get the gist of what I'm trying to say, though. Just a suggestion. As I've said before, it's your channel. Do what you're comfortable with.
