This is the song that turned me on to Mamamoo. I wasn't even crazy about the song, but it was so obvious that the girls were insanely talented that I just started going through all of their music (up to 2018) looking for something I might like, and man, did I hit the mother lode.
Yeah, this MV was not just a chance for the ladies to flex their vocal versatility. That song is AMAZING just like any other song they do. The MV was a chance for their camera crew to flex. Besides the obvious gorgeous landscape in NZ, there is really only just so much you can do with a camera in a city (they have PLENTY of MVs taking place inside cities, not so many in the countryside). In a city, you won't get many great LONG shots because of the buildings, unless you are looking along the length of a street or you do a panorama view from a rooftop. Not every building is aesthetically pleasing. But in nature on a good day, it can be MAGICAL if you have the right people handling the cameras. This entire crew is awesome and I am glad the credits were shown. Everybody involved absolutely deserves to be recognized for this because it must be considered one of the most gorgeous MVs using some of the most stunning vistas ever captured on video. :) Kim Taeyeon's MV for her 2015 Solo Debut, 'I', was also shot in NZ and is just as gorgeous. That is the song, the voice, the MV that hooked me, kidnapped me, dragged me down the rabbit hole and introduced me to K-Pop. I will thank Taeyeon for the rest of my life for that; if not for her, I would never have found Dreamcatcher, Red Velvet, (G)I-DLE or anything else that originated in Korea. I might not know about X-Pop yet...
"Be Calm" Hwasa solo is one of my favorites song of her. I love all Hwasa's solos but Be Calm and LMM are pure gold. You should definitely check it out some time.
Great reaction as always. I believe most mamamoo fans either have this song or egotistic as their favorite. You might have Egotistic and its music video as your favorite. My other two favorites of theirs are Wind Flower and Where Are We Now.
I'm loving your review of these MV's as a director. I'm not a pro video editor, but I really appreciate when a pro give us a detailed analysis so we can love these MV's even more.
This is still one their fan favorites and I think theirs too. One day I wish I could go explore New Zealand , the landscape is just breathtaking. Off to find Be Calm, I hear their is an MV for it.
There is a music video for Hwasa solo song, trilered at the end of Starry Night. As NZ is my adopted country, I have an extra love for this song and music video. The city shots are Auckland but I do not know which bay and general landscape shots were used in filming. At a guess an area north of Auckland.
My favorite Mamamoo song. Everything about this video is breathtaking
And the visuals still hold up even after all these years :)
ABSOLUTELY! :)
I love Starry Night mv because it is so beautiful but also the simplicity makes the girls stand out.
New Zealand is the fifth member in this MV.
