Laurel and Hardy have been making the world laugh since they were teamed up in 1927. Come walk with me as I visit the resting places of two comic geniuses at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood and Valhalla Cemetery in Burbank.
The Laurel and Hardy DVD Collection is available at Amazon.com: www.amazon.com...
Very nice. I loved watching them as a kid. There will never be comedy such as this ever again.
They were the greatest, two old and dear friends.
I was born a decade after Stan died but when I was a kid with Cancer they were the only thing that would make me laugh I love them!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your story.
Loved them all my life
I grew up watching the greatest Laurel & Hardy on our tiny black & white tv. Now I DVR them on our huge screen every Saturday. I adored them. Thank you for the tour. you have a wonderful voice, very soothing. 4-2017
Thank you very much for your kind words. :) Long live Laurel & Hardy!
Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy are the best Comedy of all time .
Iconic !!!!!
I could spend all day looking around these beautiful cemetery
Rip stan and ollie you were simply the best ever ..
This is one of the best UA-cam videos ever! I’ve been to Stan’s birthplace in England, the Music Box stairs, and the graves of both wonderful geniuses. Watching this was an immense pleasure. Thanks from Canada!
Laurel and Hardy, i also miss them much. yes! They made the world a better place. 😘
God bless them. 😘
When comedians were actually funny...thanks Laurel and Hardy!
Stan Laurel went to the same school I did King James 1st in Bishop Auckland County Durham England there's a statue of him not far from the school.
What a thrill that must have been for you and your classmates!
Gav - Relton x
had to check that out, so he lived with his grandmother, never new that, i'm from Durham
@@neonskyline1 Yes, both Stan and Hardy were born in their grandmothers' houses. Stan lived with his grandparents in Ulverston until the age of 5.
Thanks for this wonderful video. I loved Stan and Oliver as a child. I haven't watched them for years, and I was amazed how the scenes you chose made me laugh immediately. I'm still smiling. :-D
Their laughs were awesome. At some point I have to believe the laughter to have been honest and true even though they were acting. Thanks for the vid. I too grew up watching these cats. Sundays after church we'd rush home so we could watch their program followed by Harold Lloyd. Good stuff from so long ago.
Kevin Willert Yes, you're so right. They played those characters with such sympathy and honesty, I think that's why they are so great. Thank you for your comment!
We will never see their like again. I miss their sweetness. their gentle humor. Their tender regard for each other is obvious and touching. God Rest them both.
You said it perfectly. They were truly special.
Really enjoyed. Thank you
You're very welcome, and thank you for watching.
great respect from great masters (Y)
Thank you! Here in Finland I have same hobby. I like to visit at graves of my favorite actors, singers athletes and so on. If I ever visit in USA, I haven´t visited yet, I have to remember at least these cemeteries.
Hello and thank you for watching and commenting. It's great to hear that you do your own grave explorations. Best wishes!
Oliver Hardy was born in the tiny rural town of Harlem, Georgia, just a few miles southwest of Augusta. I believe there is a museum there. But I’ve never been able to stop when I’ve been passing through
As if Disney has gone into the funeral business... Too true...too funny 😆 I've thought the same thing when I went there in early 1990's. Really enjoy your videos and perspective, thank you 😉
What made Oliver Hardy funny was after something stupid happened he would look in the camera. That to me is what made him funny. He died before I was born.
Those looks were so great! It was a if he was looking right at us asking, "why didn't you tell me this was going to happen?" And that's how they set up almost all their jokes, so that the audience knew exactly what was going to happen before it did. In that way they drew us into the comedy. I also liked Ollie's overly dignified manners, and dainty gestures, and how oblivious and unaffected Stan was by it all. Just thinking about them brings a smile. Thank you for your comment! All the best.
Did you know on Gilligan`s Island when Alan Hale Jr. looked at the camera he said he got the idea from Oliver Hardy?
SL - not surprising. His father worked with them on the 1936 movie Our Relations, and he was great friends with both of them.
So true! And his awesome double takes!
well done and with great taste.
So sad that they are not buried next to eachother. Although they died with 7 years difference so i guess it would have been impossible. Still it would have been very nice gesture.
Everybody luvs laural & hardy
Shocked their graves weren't up to much. Oliver's plaque was very basic.
Have you visited the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Harlem, Georgia?
That's in Oliver Hardy's birthplace. I have not been, but from what I've seen on the internet, it looks like a lot of fun. Being in the LA area, I have visited several filming locations like the Music Box steps and the Culver Hotel.
Grave Explorations His dad is buried in the Harlem Cemetery. The museum is really awesome
I have it in my mind to tour Southern cemeteries, and you can bet Harlem will be high up on the list. Thanks for the tip!
John Clayton Cole You should visit Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond Va.They have a walking and a riding tour of the cemetery.
Yes.
Ah, Dick Dorf.....wunderbar ....
It would've been better if Stan was burried next to Ollie
Stan Laurel once said: “If any of you cry at my funeral
,I'll never speak to you again.”
Oh my a genius of comedy even after death making the world laugh ...both these 2 guys gone but never ever forgotten...such a crazy pair it was always madness and mayhem but omg so damn funny ..still watching these legends and im 55 now and will continue to do so ...my family watch now..stan & ollie we love you thanks for the laughs ..hope your both up there having a laugh too 👍😊😘
And i say, 'stop copying what other people in other UA-cam video comments'
IF !! I WAS !! LAUGHING !!! LAUREL !! WOULDN'T !! LEAVE !! ME !! ALONE !!!!
i realize Im kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to watch newly released movies online?
@Julius Dexter i use flixzone. You can find it on google =)
We grew up with Stan and Oliver in the 1950's, they were a Saturday morning staple. To this day whenever I leave my brother's house we say "Goodbye" imitating the boys. Thanks for posting.
laurel and hardy are the MASTERS of comedy, there will never be anyone who can even come close to there comedy genius, they are a one off.I don't care how miserable or depressed you are , just put on a laurel and hardy and it will ALWAYS cheer you up
You are so right! Not long ago, I read that Queen Elizabeth cheered herself up during her Christmas illness by watching Laurel and Hardy films. The greatest gift is the gift of laughter.
totally agree I must have been only 5 when I first watched one of their films , they were in a maze messing about ( a chump at oxford ) I can remember it as if it was only yesterday a Monday around 5 pm , my mum & dad came into the room because I was laughing so much & crying at the two men on the t.v. I thought they were called laurel lardy ( was only 5 !!!) but my parents told me their right names & told me they had gone to see them in Swindon where I live in the early 50's on the vaudeville tour they made in England .
Well said!! They Are the best and will never be replaced. Stupid rude comics of today should be ashamed of their material. I laugh more now than when i first saw these geniuses!
I recently bought the box set of all the movies - almost 100 years on im still laughing
Laurel and Hardy's humor is timeless, and no matter how many times I see it, it's always funny. Thank you for commenting. :)
can I have your box set when you go to meet them personally. I will keep the laughter going.
Me too, I just baught their box set, it's brilliant
I grew up with Laurel and Hardy, my dad was a member of a local Laurel and Hardy tent and had a lot of their shorts on Super 8. They will always be my favourite. I mean, if the queen of England watches them when she's sick to cheer herself up, then they can make anyone smile.
Funny isn't a big enough word to describe these two genius's. Thank you for the laughs, Stan and Oliver.
You're so right. These guys had something special.
"Now here's another fine mess you've gotten us into."
"*cries* But I can't help it." -Stan Laurel, and Oliver Hardy.
geniuses plural not possessive Fix it!! GN
The Three Stooges, The Marx Bros., Peter Sellers, Benny Hill to name a few wouldn't have had careers without Stan and Ollie.
britainluver431 why don’t you do something to help me? What can I do? It glew shut.
You had nothing to do, so you came by. Well here I was having the happiest time of my life - county hospital
Throw out the clutch, and sure enough he throws out the clutch. Absolutely classic. Two of the world's favourite comics and still relevant today.
To me personally being a great fan of laurel and Hardy it's so very inspiring to see so many of the younger generation still watching the madcap duo as they go about in their usual indomitable way tripping over each others feet, and hilariously crashing into every scene with that spirit that drew them apart from other comics. They were and still are two of a kind the likes of which we will never witness again!
I loved them all. Abbot & Costello, Lewis & Martin, Lemmon & Mathou, Burns & Allen but I think Laural & Hardy cause they were the first for me. We recorded them all on vhs back when it first came out & still have & play the tapes.
I think all comedy duos, owe something to Laurel & Hardy. The laughter they gave to the world is special beyond words. Thank you for taking the time to comment. :)
I was born in 1966 and we grew up watching Laurel and Hardy in the 1970s they were always on t.v and we never miss one shows ..they made us laugh and goof off after watching them ..was a big part of our life growing up and will always love these two guys
Love Laurel and Hardy! Thanks for the sweet salute to two amazing actors!
I was born the year Stan died. I loved Laurel and Hardy. They were awesome! I watched them with my family when I was a kid.
I was born in '58 in Chicago. Saturday morning movies consisted of the Bowery Boys, Charlie Chan, Shirley Temple & Laurel & Hardy. Thank You they mean alot to me also!
Thank you for commenting! There was something about that era of entertainers that was truly special.
Oliver Hardy, in that tiny grave, must have been cremated. My parents when they were kids, were brought up with their keen sense of comedy. Even Martin and Lewis, couldn't match them. Thanks to some people who still remember them, would leave a flower or something on their graves. That flower urn at Oliver's seemed so empty.
Yes, you're right, Oliver Hardy was cremated. I too was a bit surprised to find his grave so neglected when I filmed this. But, last year I returned to Valhalla to make a video about other people buried there, and was very pleased to find fresh roses at his grave and to see that his headstone had been cleaned. If you are interested in seeing that video it is available on my channel. If you don't wish to watch the entire video, you can skip to about the 6:00 mark. Thank you for watching and for keeping the spirit of these comic legends alive. :)
Laughter without a single curse word or sexual reference . Those were the days my friend..we thought they would never end . But they did & it's truly a shame . RIP in peace Fella's .
Thank you for being so wonderful
Legends that will never die
Laurel and Hardy were the absolute masters of comedic timing. No one can live forever but they do through film, making more generations laugh for untold years to come.
Absolute legends of film. Thanks for all the memories guys.
there will never be another Laurel and Hardy. they were the best. so funny.
Timothy Maxwell Maxwell So true! Thank you for commenting.
Laurel and Hardy legends in comedy. There will never be anyone like these two again
Ive been the L&Hs grave, its soo soooooo beautiful! So touching to see in person its a must, just please always show respect for the graveyards when there please dont litter ever in graveyards thats somebody's loved one dont ever forget that
Laurel and hardy brought so much laughter to a bad world and still do it today and will do forever
Great video my kids ,and i love these guys ....i grew up with them ,i am 55 yrs old ,L H will be passed on ,to each generation ...RIP BOYS
It's so great that you are sharing L & H with your children... their comedy is truly timeless. Thank you for watching and commenting. :)
i know it's not important but i feel like stan and oliver should have been put to rest in the same cemetery.
but hey they probably already met again, hopefully
I just looked up Oliver Hardy and wikipedia said his is in the Masonic Garden area of the Valhalla Memorial park, interesting that they have a Masonic area within the Cemetery . They were both in poor health in their later years and Hal Roach referred to them as a couple of "freight train smoke stacks" . they were both heavy smokers
califdad4
It looks like Hardy was cremated .
He is in such a small plot.
What a lovely tribute to the truly unique Mr Laurel and Mr Hardy, and for the wonderful insight into their final resting place, as well as other Hollywood Greats. Not ashamed to say that I shed some tears. Thanks very much for posting!
Compared to the other 🌟 graves the lads were buried as they lived. Humble to the end. I somehow couldn't see them in big mausoleums they were too down to earth. Just watched the film and it is a belter. Kudos to john c and Steve coogan. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I can't think of 2 guys that always put a smile on my face and that's Laurel and Hardy . My favorite was one called Brats when they played double roles of themselves they had to baby sit their kids that looked like them . There is one thing that makes me sad and put a smile on my face was I read that Stan Laurel once said that if anyone cries at his funeral , I'll never speak to them again . Even though , he knew his time on Earth was coming to an end , he still finds a way put a smile on your face . There will never be another Laurel Hardy . God Bless both of their souls and Happy Trails To You , Until We Meet Again !
I grew up watching them as well in the 60's and 70's, loved them then, love them now! great clips at the end! thanks for sharing!
It was my pleasure, thank you watching and leaving such a nice comment :)
Me too
I always believed that the difference between their teaming, and others, was that the characters of both Ollie and Stan showed a real love, kindness, and mutual respect for each other. They had their arguments (what two people don't get on each other's nerves from time to time), but in the end, they had each other's backs. They showed good values to kids of all ages.
So true! Thank you for commenting :)
starwish246
I Laugh until I fall over watching the one where Laurel is sitting at the veterans hospital bench on his leg . Oliver sees him sitting and thinks Stan lost his leg in the war.
He picks Stan up places him in wheelchair and gets in trouble with the guy who owns the chair.
After Oley gets punched he carries Stan to his car.
Yeah, so true, that's what makes them so charming and timeless: despite all their differences and arguments, they always showed a genuine compassion and care for each other underneath - and that separates them from other comedic pairs and groups of the time such as the Three Stooges, the Marx Brothers or Abbott & Costello, who were of course all comedic geniuses as well, but whose relationships always were much more defined by hostility. R.I.P. Stan and Ollie, you will always be the greatest comedic duo of all time, your comedy has entertained generations and will continue to do so.
@@jennyjones599 "Block-Heads" (1938).
I loved Laurel and Hardy growing up...They were true funny guys for sure...they knew how to do it!!
Yes, the boys were great. They didn't even have to do anything to get a laugh, just the sight of them was enough. I'm so glad that people still appreciate their flawless craft. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Thanks To Laurel and Hardy For All The Many Laughs and Movies Over The Years. RIP Always
Laurel and hardy r 2 comedy genius who have always made me and my children laugh. 2 greats passed but never to b forgotten.
They were the best of friends who truly loved each other, would have been fitting to bury them side by side.
I love the clips at the end...Laughed my butt off...I don't care how many times you see it its always funny when your dealing with all the old guys...
Robert Echols it's damn true
Fabulous duo theybwere much loved i grew up whith them such lovely actors and made me laugh xxxx
Surprise Laurel and Hardy were not buried near each other, they were the first greatest comedy team and truly loved one anougher.
Loved watching these two. They were as funny as they were endearing. RIP
Yes that's strange why did they not be buried side by side with each other

i love watching their movies
I really enjoyed this video. My uncle has a hand written letter from Stan Laurel thanking him for being such a great fan for decades. He was a genuinely nice man to take the time to answer my uncle's letter. A trait that you don't find anymore. I showed my 7 and 10 year old kids the other night the scene where Stan played the bed spring harp in the Flying Deuces and they actually laughed out loud. Great channel and please keep them rolling.
We all need to smile more. Just the simple act of putting a smile on your face can lead you to feel actual happiness, joy, or amusement. Laurel and Hardy brought many years of happiness into our lives.
It makes me so sad to watch this. I loved this duo and watched their every work. Wish I could meet my heroes and thank them for all the laughs, but I never will.
Stan and laurel where the best ,I still whach the even today and my children loved them too they filled our hearts with joy may they both find peace (RIP)Stan&Laurel
Yes, Stan and himself are worth a tribute, and so is Oliver Hardy.
Laurel and Hardy seem like they would've been fun to hang out with.
My autistic daughter only ever laughed at these, it was so fantastic to hear her laugh for the 1st time, they should still be showing them on TV now. Rip
grew up watching these guys in the 70' and 80's true comedy kings there laughter is infectious when stan throws out the clutch from the car made me laugh so hard love it may they rest in heavenly peace 😇
Simply put. The greatest comedy duo of all time!
True. Would make you wonder, a guy from Georgia, USA and another from Northern England.
I loved them!
Lovely tribute!
My thanks to them for all the laughter they've given me over the years.
Love them for that.
Oh how these two make you laugh. Sweet gentlemen! Thanks for the laughs. You will never be forgotten! I have just baught all yr films in a boxset. So good to see you both! 💜 You're still giving us the joy of laughter, and I'm sure you still are now, where ever you are! 💜 never forgotten, love sharon xxxxx 💝 ♥
Two iconic geniuses of the silver screen, no matter how many times you watch their films, you never get bored...their incredible ability to capture the audience and have you in fits of laughter is still as relevant today as it was when they first made their films all those years ago. Thank you Stan, thank you Oliver from the bottom of my heart for continually tickling my ribs with your incredible slapstick comedy. God bless you both!
God bless them and may they always be remembered. Love you guys and thanks for bringing a little sunshine into the world xxx
Enjoyed it very much. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the comment! I'm so glad there are so many out there who still love Laurel and Hardy.
Leslie Cole Jr nn
thanks u for this beautifully done rip u where one of a kind
My all time favorite comedy team! Loved Laurel & Hardy!
These two still make me laugh so much today. So so funny a beautiful tribute
AWESOME VIDEO! I was born 1986 and my dad raised me on Laurel and Hardy and to this day I thank God every day that he did! They are incredible! My dad was just like Hardy, not big, but always getting hit or falling making the exact same noises. Looking back on it all these years later after his death I realized he was constantly reenacting Laurel and Hardy for us but acting like it was real and a lot of the time accidentally hurting himself in the process. Lol
they were as good as the stooges for sure. Rest in Peace Stan and Oliver. You guys will never be forgotten and always missed dearly.
As good? There would not be Stooges without L&H! Period! They are the king, everyone else, is a jester in their court!
Yes they really were the greatest comedy, and watched them since my young childhood, and still watching them today as being an adult almost everyday on youtube, and still loughing when I am depressed, and they make my day and forget all my depressed and stressful days, may you both rest in peace.
Stans laugh will always have me in tears of laughter too.. comic geniuses
Oh god yes stans laugh is the best ...feeling sad or having a bad day just watch laurel and hardy ..thank you guys for many laughs...a duo comedy classic legends forever ♥️♥️😘😘
Great video. Like yourself I was born well after Stan Laurel had passed away. Thanks to my Dad being a fan, I grew up watching many of their shows. This put a smile on my face so thank you.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for taking the time to comment :)
Wow Babe had lost a ton of weight there at the end,
Stan and Ollie are in my opinion the best and are the standard that know comedy team will ever beat Cheech and Chong are my personal favorites but if it wasn't for Laural and Hardy Cheech and Chong would really have not have a problem saying Dave's not here man lol
With Olie looking at the camera all the time, I wonder if these guys invented breaking the fourth wall?
Thank you so much.
Yes me too.I grew Up Watching Laurel and Hardy On TV....❤❤
I've been to stand home in Ulverston many times. Great place and area to visit in England. love the two giant comedians.
That must have been a great visit! I've been to the Music Box steps in Silverlake several times, and it's always amazes me to be in the place where they created that masterpiece.
I love them I grew up watching them in Italy but sadly they don't show them very much in the USA I live in LA and I never see them on TV.
We love them thinks
No flowers on their graves ,thats sad . But they didnt need them. They were so great, sweet and gentle in a better world like today. I truly miss you.
TAKE A LOOK AT ... THEM THAR HILLS
I WATCHED IT TODAY IF YOU DON'T LAUGH YOUR NUTS.
I LOVE that one. Also starring the amazing Mae Busch and Charley Hall... A classic!!! (It makes me laugh just thinking about it) Thank you for watching and commenting! :)
I read that the bolder hat which Stymie Beard worn for the Little Rascals films was given to him by none other than Stan Laurel who liked the kid. Both Laurel and Hardy along with the original Our Gang comedies were under the control of Hal Roach who is buried at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in East Los Angeles. Very talented men who made a fantastic pair and had such great chemistry. LIfe-long friends and there was never the case where the two because of creative differences or anything else didn't like being in the presence of the other, their on and off screen relationship was a model I wish many other entertainers would follow. Thanks for the Pierce Brothers Valhalla. I thought it was in North Hollywood but Burbank is close enough and I know where the Bob Hope International Airport is.
Thank you for adding the info. Interesting that you mention Stymie Beard. Just recently I was filming at Evergreen Cemetery in Los Angeles where Stymie is buried, and had an opportunity to pay my respects.
Paul Delgadillo I wish that someone could find out where Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee are buried.
Grave Explorations my father was really good friends with Stymie. They went through a place called "Synanon" together and remained friends until his death! I grew up looking at tons of photos of my father and Stymie along with tons of stories about their adventures together!! Anyway!! Another Great video! I'm loving this channel more and more with every video I see!! Can't wait to see what's next!
🤖🤓
wherever sir christopher lee is buried it must be awesome - he was truelly larger than life - did it all and them some
Paul - yes, Stan gave Stymie his hat whilst Laurel and Hardy were making a cameo appearance in the Rascals/Our Gang movie Wild Poses.
Very interesting video. Thanks for sharing!
Barbro Vaage You're very welcome, thank you for watching :)
thank u from Scotland loved your video like u as a boy I loved them both a still laugh at them today and when I need to laugh a look them up
