Probably because in their everyday lives, they were accessible to their doting fans, and were true gentlemen. How many times would they have had total strangers coming up to them, and asking for an autograph. Even after Ollies death, Stan would answer every fans letter personally, not getting his press secretary to do it for him. They were both born and belonged to a different era, when stars behaved with great courtesy towards admiring fans. This is why Stan & Ollie are still held in very high regard.
Many thanks for your efforts on behalf of all L & H fans. What a star Bob Satterfield is and how thankful should we be to people like him who have dedicated their lives to preserving as much of Stan & Ollie’s legacy as possible.Superb!
What a great film. Not only for the wonderful scenes and locations, but Bob's knowledge and enthusiasm for his subject and the presenters joy at being near or in history. Wonderful, thanks.
Che meraviglia, che queste case esistano ancora e siano così ben tenute! È un grande onore possederle e anche per noi che siano state preservate. Grazie del bellissimo servizio! ✨💖✨
Excellent piece of historical journalism. Everything possible about L&H needs to be documented, they will be appreciated for many years and many generations to come
I really enjoyed this guided tour of L&H's filming locations. The visual descriptions of then-vs-now, the explanations of how locations are discovered and the addition of many interesting ancillary details shared by 2 L&H experts resulted in a WORTHWHILE program.
Grew up on L & H, our gang/little rascals, and other Half Roach Studio films.......now my son is watching them on DVDs..... He's a grown man.....he loves all of them too Thank you Bob.....God bless you Daymond chief Jones
I love this. I think L&H did some set locations near Modjeska Canyon down in Orange County? I watch L&H also for the set locations, which show what LA used to look like. There was some beautiful land back then, exquisite, sad for me to see that destroyed. That Westend Hotel looks like bad luckville. Oops, Oliver never said "a fine mess," it was "another nice mess." I am fascinated with Mexican American actress Herlinda Loredo. She worked with them on their Spanish language marketing. She is buried in southeast LA. Her papa was a shoemaker in downtown LA. She shared a house with her sister near LA college.
Wow...Thank you Ross and Bob for such a great video, it was a real treat for me and so informative. I have watched and loved Laurel & Hardy films and shorts all my life! The decision to film live from the locations as they are now and interjecting the matching old clips from the films was inspired! Note: Loved both of your shirts as well. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for sharing all you're knowledge on this iconic piece of American entertainment history! I really appreciate you're time and all those who have maintained their homes original details so meticulously as well.
I always remember around school holidays and Christmas time....laurel and hardy and the Marx brothers were shown every morning for about 2 /3 weeks. I used to get up early to watch them and remember sitting there at around 7 0'clock in the morning killing myself laughing and this was around 1973. It was a big part to the build up to Christmas. I was around 9 years old. Terrific stuff.
I ‘m from the UK , I remember in the 80s Laurel and Hardy shorts were shown on weekdays at 17.40 on BBC2 , I can remember kneeling down in front of the T.V. about 10 minutes before it started so that I wouldn’t miss a second 😂
I've loved Laurel and Hardy (and all Hal Roach productions) since as far back as can remember. To this day I regularly watch them. As everyone says, it wasn't their genius of comedy alone. It was watching two wonderful people having fun. That came through on every movie they made. Exceptional people. By the way, "Son's Of The Desert" is my favorite, although I love all their work.
I quite agree, but for such a famous son of Ulverston, the museum was very low key, and being privately owned and run, there was very little input or help from the local Cumbrian council. Maybe because visitors to the museum are of a certain age, who were brought up on L&H movies. Their now sadly almost forgotten, never re shown on UK television, which is a huge travesty
Every year in October there is a Laurel and Hardy festival at the foot of the "Music Box" stairs in Silverlake (LA). The small park across from the stairs is called Laurel and Hardy Park.
Laurel and Hardy started it all for comedy duo’s like Abbott and Costello, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Sanford & Son, Perfect Strangers and a ton of different sitcoms. I think they inspired even the musical duo’s like Hall & Oates etc. They even inspired duo’s like the Duke Boys, Starsky & Hutch, Cagney & Lacey. They basically influenced the producers of all these entertainers to put together an act with two people , working as partners, entertaining an audience for whatever reason. Laurel and Hardy are the pioneers of the comedy duo. Oh, how can I forget Alan Hale and Bob Denver as Skipper & Gilligan.
I live in Culver City born and raised I live on Culver Boulevard I’m always up and down those streets a lot has changed my father used to live at the Adams hotel go longer there but on the weekends I will go to the movies come on The Culver theater on the weekends sometimes to the More Alta theater down the street fun times
Thanks for the locations. I found the location of one of the final scenes of one of the Chaplin greats, "The Kid," just by going around and looking. The scene where the truck driving the Kid away to the orphanage, turns the corner onto a dirt road. That dirt road is now the famous "Olvera Street" in downtown LA, near the old train station. When Charlie filmed there, the Street was just a rundown dirt road. In the mid 1930's, they renovated all of it and turned it into what it is today.
What talent it took to go out into city streets and do scenes in front of a camera. I realize they were used to performing but it still must have taken a lot of concentration.
That would be a bit of the Iverson Ranch in Chatsworth, which is completely accessible, and I believe the Van Nuys airport... That, and the Raleigh Studios. My late grandmother, Bonnie Bannon, was in "Deuces" so I have looked into the filming locations myself. :)
It's incredible how well loved Laurel and Hardy still are all around the world. There again not only were they good they were the best.
True stars like Laurel and Hardy are humble and not arrogant at all.
Lucky enough to see the location and site of action of the 2 greatest comedians who had made the old world in memory only Big thank you
THE GREATEST COMEDY TEAM IN ALL OF HISTORY. MISS YOU BOTH.

Bob is a fantastic Laurel and Hardy tour guide and had a great time with him. He is a fascinating and very funny guy.
An enjoyable tour! Thanks to everyone who cares enough to keep the flame alive for these amazing classic films. 😁
Los Angeles and Hollywood must have been so cool in the early 20th Century.
Little could Laurel and Hardy now that 80 plus years later, people would still be watching and enjoying their films.
Great fun. So glad you got to visit these sites in Culver City, Ross.
Awesome locations!
Excellent video. The best I have seen regarding The Boys filming locations.Bob is a legend with a wealth of information.Well done.
It's amazing that these iconic L&H locations can be related to modern day Los Angeles. This is a great show. R.

Bob Satterfield organized the fantastic Laurel and Hardywood trips during the 2013 L&H convention in Hollywood. Thanks again, Bob!

Thanks for this. Very interesting. Great to see that many of the houses are still as they were in the 1920s. Would love to visit there myself one day.
Thank you Bob. Fascinating.

Sempre revejo os filmes deles, são os melhores ainda no século XXI, nunca terá outros com esse talento
Love this and presented by one of my favourite people Ross Owen :-)
Is cute the Hause existing.
These locations are Sacred Ground for Laurel and Hardy film lovers. ...Rowby.
What talent it took to go out into city streets and do scenes in front of a camera. I realize they were used to performing but it still must have taken a lot of concentration.
LOVED This !! :- ))
Bob saterfield was my teacher at San Gorgonio highschool. In highland.
Great guy. Awesome teacher and I can see the dedication to these two funny comedians.
Thanks, Ross and Bob, what a great video; I live a few miles west of Culver City and Cheviot Hills. Did Oliver Hardy also live nearby?
The Little Rascals also filmed exclusively on the Los Angeles/ Culver City borderline.
Gee! When you both were laying down!
Could Do A 'Modern' Retake!
You 2 are Laurel & hardy Reincarnated! Good Video :)
I know, when he said another fine mess and the other guy smiled. I was like holy crap.
What a fun walk this would be while watching an iPad with each applicable film.
Great video keep up the good work................... whats the next project ?
I would like to see filming locations of " Flying Deuces". Is it possible ? Thanks!
I really like the shirt Bob Satterfield was wearing.
Does anyone know where I can get one like it?
What a lovely and engaging man.
Beam me up Scotty, such an accent 👍 funny he, Stanley
was English 🤔
What a lovely bloke that Bob is
