So much has been going on behind the scenes to get ready for our shop build that we will be getting started on soon as well as inside. Our main priority will always be the house, and now we are even closer to having our self-built kitchen.

Name her CC for Cajun Cat
Call her “Lucky” because she was rescued and lucky to be alive
The DeWalt stand for this is the way to go. I'm a remodeling contractor and we have tried several brands of both stands and saws. DeWalt is our favorite! Well thought out and good quality! Everyone else is trying to catch up...
Awesome! Thank you!
Jim, you will LOVE this saw for all your trim and crown molding .Just remember --upside down and backwards for crown molding cuts!!
Thank you!!
The cabinets look fantastic. You've definitely proved it can be done correctly and look great. Thanks for saving the kitten. ❤❤
Thank you Melissa!
I always like to have the kitten around for awhile, to see the personality. My grandkids named one of their cats princess, she is a very vocal cat so I call her Karen.
Your jig to drill the larger hole should have two small pilot holes on either side to get you lined up when you go to install. Also, you can get an aftermarket pop-up dolly stand to mount your new saw on that is half of the Dewalt brand stand.
Jim I use this jig for hinges it works good and also has a guide for the screw holes.
Concealed Hinge Jig
Item#: KHI-HINGE
Wow, you guys look like first time experts. Beautiful kitchen.
Thank you!
Awww, kitty looks like a "Biscuit" to me😊
I made a wooden watch, I cut a board then sat there to watch it... Reminds me of a T-shirt logo from the 70s, there was an image of some lazy fugnut with a drink in a lawn chair who said "Work fascinates me,I can sit and watch it for hours".
Too funny!
Here’s encouragement when it seems like a long process building cabinets… the thousands of dollars you are saving and pride of building it yourself is worth every minute of time. Looks awesome!
For a cheap way to do solar, consider using a bit of land that isn't in the shade, get a bunch of used solar panels and lay them on the ground. Still need batteries, inverter, etc, but do this without paying for ground mounts to keep the cost WAY down. I see SanTan solar supports lots of UA-camrs, so give them a call. I am not a customer, but am considering it.
Just make a few more wood sawhorses. Just a few 2x4's.
Just to add to Jack's comment please video as much detail as you can on building this solar setup. Lots of people look for this but see a good deal of surface videoing. From Louisiana also so it might be more relatable.
The cabinets look amazing !!! And the kitten is adorable !! I looked up names meaning rescued and saw SANDA - also means Mam’s Defender - lol Looks like Captain Croc has a new sidekick ! 😂
😁😊
I was a commercial trim carpenter-cabinet guy for 30 years. We had several of the Dewalt folding miter saw stands which were nice for setup and knockdown on smaller jobs. However, if you're staying put like you guys, it's just as good to build a table with another pair of folding saw horses. A long bench, maybe 10 or 12 foot with a block at either end the same height as the saw makes life easier. Total materials 2 2x4x12 and 2 saw horses plus some scrap plywood. Wish I had some photos of the more creative stands my guys built through the years.
Also, the t-square method on the euro hinges is spot on.
WOW!!! The cabinets look great! That Bluetti is very impressive. I don't think I'll be getting a saw like that. You see, I have a rule that I never use a tool that is smarter than me. That's why I have very few tools.😁
Thank you!
Cabinets are looking fabulous. Kitty name: Nala.
Should name her Lucky! Kitchen looks amazing. Great teamwork! Thanks for sharing
Simply stunning - great attention to detail as always guys, and love the little kitten, name's got to be whatever your little Princess comes up with, her naming the kitten will give her a sense of ownership and responsibility and care. Thank you for the video, pleasure to watch.
the cat should be named RHODA as yall found her on the road, the cabinets look awesome, thanks for the vid
How about "Ci-Ci" for the kittys name---short for CCL !!! P. S.--the cabinets are beautiful !!!
That Bluetti looks like a great alternitive to a generator. Kitty should be Roadie.
Absolutely!!
Some wise words there Jim. If you have a lot of doors to make/drill a jig would work, but the jig does take some time to make, but the 7000 Cabinet drill jig door hinges hootis will save you lots of time/so you can spend it with CC
Thank you Robert!
I would follow the 20/90 rules with LIFEPO4 batteries, Run the battery down to 20% and dont charge above 90%. This will save battery cycle life. If you don't complete the full cycle on the charge, The cells will not count as a full cycle. Thus means you will get 4000 cycles before 80% DOD. Lifepo4 is a memory battery chemistry... I hope this helps and will allow a much longer life cycles. Still loving the videos..Keep up the great work guys.
Thank you!!!
The kitten is so adorable and love its color 🥰. A good name would be Lucky, because it is lucky you saved it. Your cabinets looks amazing, you both should be proud of what you have accomplished 😊.
That was my first thought...Lucky cus it didn't get run over and got a new home.
Took the name out of my mouth!
Great work today - you always need the right tools to complete a project - good job guys!!! Have a great week / love ya more!!!
Thank you so much!!
I have always had cats. Now I have three. One outside and two in my shop. Yes if you catch them doing anything other than sleeping or eating, it will be unusual. But it does make for a happier and more calm home. Only one lesson to learn - cats are not dogs so treat them differently.
Ahhhh!!! The miter saw that came free with the purchase of an Oven at Conns!!!
Jim I suggest getting the Ridgid portable stand for your mitre saw it rolls around easily and folds up so it stores out of your way usually best to get them at Home Depot around Christmas time as they have them at a really good price
Thank you Fred!
Oh it looks like that kitty is home to me, Mrs Norris is a good name, you guys are doing a great job and living the dream Awesome, your gonna love that saw, I’m a carpenter and mine is my most used tool bar none
Great video great view. Woodworking house 🏠
Thank you!
Teddy is totally drooling over your new sliding miter saw! Love the new little Cajun kitty! Whatever you name her, I’m sure she’ll pick up some other nicknames along the way!
The cabinet area is going to look awesome with the tile going all the way up!
Tell Teddy that he can come over and use it anytime Jenna!! 😂 Thank yall so much!
Change Bugsy just a little to Buzzy because the traffic was buzzing by/over her when you did your heroic rescue. "Hey Buzzy Kitty,c'mere ya little furball" then later of course it'll be "Hey Buzzy Cat, c'mere ya big furball".
Keeping with Cap’n Crocks theme and since she was biting originally I say name her Gator. Also fits Cajun Country.
Hahah yes!!
I immediately thought of Lanee for the precious little kitten, because y'all rescued her out of the driving lane... And it's also another fitting L name to fit in perfectly with Lydia and Ladly 💖💖
loving how the cabinets came out. Was a bit concerned with the arch flush on one side but "a tad off" on the other, until I saw it all come together. This is why you are the masterminds. Looks amazing. If Ladly wasn't feeling better, I am sure a new kitten is what the doctor ordered 😂 BTW I can show you TONs of photos of me 'not being the cat guy' with our cat as well as a lap full of puppies as we are determined to not get more puppies. The struggle is real!
Thank you so much Matt! There is a trick to it all, even if you have to cut it once it’s in place! Lol.
Oh, Lad has taken the kitty over. They are besties. I think Betty has hurt feelings, but we still love on her as well.
That’s so funny. Love it.
I knew Lydia was carrying 😮 Just not what we expected 😅 Watch out rooster, more importantly watch out Gus 😂 Betty is a big cat 😮 About time Jim brought a better drop saw. More awesome building coming up 😊 Time for checking out timber 😮 Oh yes buy the stand and the rollers for 6metre lengths 😊 Is it me or the ceiling isn’t flat? The kitchen is coming along nicely, starting to look like a kitchen. Can’t wait for the bench top. Until the next video❤
😂 love it!!
Good to see y'all again, you were missed.
Thank you James!
Good wotk! The cabinets looks soooo good! Welcome to the new "soft and fluffy" family member! 🤣🤣🤣
Hi y'all. I think you should name the kitty LUCKY. From the story you told .cabinets are looking great. Keep up the great work. 👍👍❤❤...
That little kitty looks like a good mouser. 12 inch compound sliding mitre Saw is the best investment you could have after a good cabinet table saw for building cabinets.
Hi you two
I bought a new phone a few weeks ago. The phone provider took over two weeks to get me connected to my WiFi. Some glitch with the phone.
I got to watch the videos on my TV so now I'm going through and clicking the like button on each one. As always I enjoy watching you each Sun & Wed.
I'm glad you kept the arch theme . It looks great having the arched opening in between the two cabinets instead of a third cabinet.
Jim (aka Captain Croc) has really done a fantastic job on the cabinets
Yea, Lydia I know you helped. But the way he made those cuts so precisely you would think he was a professional.
Having the construction business as a 11 year part of my work history, I've seen a lot of shoddy work by so called professionals that I've had to fix.
As always wishing you the best of success. You've reached another milestone in the build. I'm so proud of you two
Love you guys
Looking good, nice tan lines Jim. Name it 4lane.
Im so proud you saved that sweet girl...get her spayed nice and young...get her and your other kitty Frontline...and she'll be a GREAT friend to Lad...and a great mouser....looking forward to seeing the happy kitties ❤ Oh...and the cabinets look amazing. Ya'all do America proud 😊
Looks awesome you guys. I'm impressed each day.
Thank you!
The stand is a must have! I think they’re $199 at Lowe’s. It comes with extendable wings that have height adjustments, positive stops, etc. makes it easier to move all at once too!
Awesome!! That’s a small price to pay for convenience!
@@CajunCountryLivin yes it is
I loved Jim's closing statements!
You folk sre doing a good job as far as I can see. Keep on trucking.
Thank you!
That's a purty little miter saw. I just bought a 123 year old house so I picked up a used 12" Metabo miter saw that had a brand new blade on it too. If y'all decide to do crown molding in the future it will be awesome. I need to get a stand soon for it though. I've been using it on the ground so far.
Thank you! It will absolutely be used for that!
That is a very nice miter saw.your cabinets are going to be so nice.take care and God bless 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Look for April Wilkersons saw horse plans. I build a copy of them but taller and with side arms. I got an old tape measure and mounted it to the cut surface extension. I also added a clamp stop block.
love the kitten, hope she takes to your daughter as much as she has to Jim. how about sparky, she seems like a live wire. glad you saved her and decided to make her part of your family.
I have the same saw with the Ridged saw table , its pricy but worth every penny has big wheels and it's easy to move and set up , works great on those long pieces of molding
Awesome to hear!
you guys amaze me really so thoughtful, and you do feed of each other those cabinets look professional and im so impressed you have thought me alot
Thank you so much!
Buttercup is the Cutest Kitten 😉🙃🥰
Nice tool/toy Jim! I'm calling it the compound miter hootis 2300.
Love it!
Looks better than some professional job that I have encountered. Fantastic job you two.👍👍
Thank you Billy!
Great work guys! Keep it up.
Amazing job 👏 🙌
The kitty was meant to be..
I think a good name for your kitty would be Speed Bump!
love your home projects and the fact that you take complete strangers along. cabinets looks amazing. and for the kitten, her name should be Dusty. :) She has a light dust of brown to her. and she will be a welcome addition to your family. :) Enjoy!!
Thank you!!
I admire your courage statement at the end of the video!!
I finally caught up, i have watched all your videos in order. I happy to see you knock out the cabinets like champs, keep it up.
Nice tools (toys) can make things so much easier some times. Enjoy. The cabinetry is coming together nicely. - cheers
I love the way the kitchen is turning out! Well done guys
just lovin it all from cats to cabinets ..........lov from south alabama dixon line.
stop light would be a great name for the new kitten
love the lil baby y'all found 🐾💖🐾... just wanna add that the kitchen is lookin beautiful y'all 💕 & have a great rest of the memorial Day weekend & I can't wait for the next video
Thank you! You as well!
I believe where you have the arch top between the cabinets where you said you might put shelves. I think you need some metal some good ol”black pipe I don’t know something industrial /modern looking.
Great idea!!
Cabinets are looking great. I can’t wait to see how they turn out.
Bravo pour la réalisation de vos meubles de cuisine les cousins cajuns. Cela demande de la précision. Maintenant il y a un petit membre de la famille en plus 🐈. Bon courage pour la suite des travaux. 👍👏😘🇫🇷
Thank you Gerard!
Dewalt makes awesome saws, I have the 120v cordless/corded of that one, It cost a lot with the stand, over a grand, But the stand that folds down with the wheels on it, Is a must have because they are so heavy.
Congrats Jim on your new “tool”. It sure will help with the cabinet cuts.I think Lucky would fit for the kitten’s name.
Cabinets are looking great. And, what else would you name your kitten but "Traffic"
Cabinets look really good ! Nice work
Cute kitten! Aurelie - means “Golden ” in French
Cute!
Buttercup! Butters for short! Cabinets look awesome!
Great contect, absoluty love this channel, so original, much better than allot of UA-cam videos about building their own home.
Thank you so much!
I am not familiar with that specific hinge hootis but most I have used have a set of holes to predrill the hinge screws when you drill the big hole. Thanks for the great content.
Nice saw. It will always chip out on the backside of the cut. Put the non visual side of your piece against the fence. This way the good side always has a clean cut.
Using a straight edge to line up your hinges isn't a bad way to do it. Check out self centering vix bits for you screw pilot holes. A few things to help with the fuzz (blowouts) on your cuts/routing...
The best way is to practice 0 clearance. This produces very clean cuts. Sacrifice fences and push boards are your friend. An example of this is my table saw insert. It is a block of aluminum with a dovetail machined in it. In this dovetail slides a thin piece of oak. You put a piece of oak in, set your blade angle if needed. Hold a piece of scrap over where the blade will be. Turn the saw on. Crank blade up through insert. If you stop at the right height its truly 0 clearance. Front, back and both sides. The blowouts come from the thin fibers not being backed up. When the blade/bit hits the individual fibers they aren't strong enough to support a clean cut. So they break loose randomly creating the fuzz. A good way to see the results of 0 clearance is to drill 2 holes in a board (a Forstner bit will show dramatic results). On the first one put a sacrifice block (that's bigger than the hole) directly under the hole. Clamp it tight so there is no air gap (0 clearance) between the piece your drilling and the sacrifice block. On the second hole move the block altogether. Take note of how the 2 cross cut apexes Vs. the rip apexes look.
Make you a zero clearance insert for your miter saw. Also a piece that clamps to the fence. It will turn into 2 pieces the first cut you make... but there will be zero clearance (until you change either angle of the saw). The insert will be 0 clearance until you change bevel angle. These also make lineup for precise cuts precise if you mark your boards in the right spot.
Do your cross cuts first.
If you know exactly where the cut is going to be use a razor blade to score that line shallow and prior to machining. Can be used in conjunction with the tape trick below.
Sticking masking tape to the face of the material then cutting thru material and tape at the same time can help too (most effective to prevent chipping of laminates).
Build you a router table. You will have a lot more control and implementing 0 clearance with the router in a table will be pretty straight forward then.
You can easily make a 0 clearance fence for your skill saw with 1/8" luan and 1/4" plywood. Well it isn't a true zero fence. Its not zero clearance on both sides and front and back. Just on one side. But your fence always covers the side you are using. It's faster than your clamp too. No math involved. Put the fence exactly on your mark and cut. It's extremely precise too.
Pretty Kitty! I'm extremely jealous over that new saw. Now that I know where one is, I'll just borrow yours. But at my age, the need for one has long passed. The cabinets are stunning already. See y'all Wednesday. Thanks for the video.
Perfect. Come on by & borrow it any time. 😆
@@CajunCountryLivin 🤣Don't wait up for me!
The best Channel and the best family 🌹
for the new chop box REMEMBER to move the fence's before you try a angled bevel cut or you WILL FORGET and cut the metal fence. I would honestly just move them out of the way now. you WILL forget. it's not an if it's a *WHEN* it's gonna happen. EDIT: AKA the little twist knobs on both sides allows you to slide the fence's in/out. slide them away from the blade.
Thank you!
Great video, as usual! I have the same Dewalt saw. Congratulations Jim! It’s awesome
Thank you!
Yes, keep your fingers away from the blade. From Nubbs 😂
🤣😂😅
Cabinet looks amazing❣️❣️❣️
You won't regret that saw!
Hi, you doing a good job, love watching you guys !!
Cabinets are Beautiful! And kitty is Adorable ❤
When I was growing up my sister had a kitten that she named “Kittles” I always thought it was a cute name. BTW, Great work on the cabinets! I have some carpentry skills but cabinet making is a whole other level! That’s why cabinets are so expensive. 😅 Take care!
FYI there is a attachment to the saw that is a light on the saw to aline the blade. It's Dewalt.
Awesome!!
If you keep the kitten butterscotch is a good name Cabinets looks amazing Have A Blessed Memorial Day Much Love From Portland Indiana
Thank you!
Lydia or Lilly Or pick her name from a favorite book or movie. I would keep her, the more you hold her and play with her she will settle down. Good luck she is beautiful
Hope yalls little Cajun queen is feeling better
She’s getting there. Thank you!
Dewalt has a set of stands that that saw locks into , there not bad priced , and then there is also an extention that can attach so you can do longer pieces
Awesome!
Definitely understand how people in general are on a budget, these work great in pair not sure if this one is for your saw normally they have what model number works with each saw, I used a similar saw that has a Lazer line to show where it is cutting , as I've found out so many 2×6 ,8's 10's and 12's we have bought in over 12ft spans were longer that the 16s or even 24s we special ordered to make beams some were an inch longer than there size , and now when I buy lumber I always measure the boards to see if there longer .
Your kitchen is looking great. Bet you are glad to be able to build your own cabinets but also bet you will be ready to move on to next project.😊
Thank you Steve 😁
Should named it "Hootis"❤
Great cabinet work. I would put a valance above the doors spannin the full width
Thank you!
The cabinets look great
Megusta mucho ese trabajo muylinda la terminacion
Looks beautiful you guys are amazing
