First, we put epoxy on our floor and it did not come out the way we wanted. We didn’t realize we forgot to seal the concrete till it was too late, so instead of looking like wet concrete, the epoxy pulled out all the browns and darker tones in our soon to be dining room. We have found a solution… WALLPAPER?! Yes. WALLPAPER! Come check out how this turned out!

I have been in the construction industry 40 yrs and have never seen that. Kudos to you all!
Thank you Curt!!
This is a first for me in my 82 years. What a revolution idea. Something tells me, we are going to be seeing a lot of DYI's using this method. Art in Calif
It’s definitely showing promise!!!
I love, love, love that you are trying some awesome DIY stuff that ALL of us can actually do and is not going to break the bank. Thanks Y'all!
I saw a girl who did something similar a few years ago. She took all of these vintage news paper and magazine articles and epoxied them to her floor just like you did the wallpaper. Her articles were stuff like the moon landing in 1969 and vintage ads like the 1965 Ford Mustang or the 66 Chevy Corvette. Hers was very time consuming because she had to lay everything out just right. But your floor, it is oh so cool. A most excellent installation.
Holy crud do y’all deserve some sort of creativity award. I can not fathom doing something so permanent as this with epoxy to my brand new home, and yet now I wanna try it. Feel like you two just opened up an entire new mind scope for flooring with endless options. Well done you two !!!!
Thank you so much! Worst case, we can always cover it! We love the look and thank you for all the kind words!
Mind blown!!!!!! I'm an old man and no, I've never seen this done before! As far as I'm concerned ya'll are the first!🥰
Thank ya sir!!❤️
You two are awesome!! I have never seen anyone use wallpaper on the floor with epoxy but I love the way it turned out!! You two are adorable & make me giggle while I watch (in a cute way, that’s good f9r the soul, mind you!) I have to show you guys to my hubby. We have always liked to do different stuff than the “normal way” & really enjoy watching the stuff you do. I know, we at one point we’re going to install a handmade counter or table top with some odds & ends on display with an epoxy top in our kitchen with a window box to make it look like It was sitting outside, of a corner restaurant or pub. Fast forward & that whole plan changed to our house being decorated kinda like a bar or eatery. It reminds me of that old song “I’m gonna hire a whine-o to decorate our home!” LoL. We are in our 50’s& not big drinkers anymore but have old beer signs and cigarette signs as well. My Grandfather & Uncle ran a bar in Joliet, Il when I was a kid. He loved Old Style & I was gifted the original Old Style sign from that bar, which is older than I am. We have moved recently & that Old Style sign was the first thing my husband bolted up to the wall. I don’t necessarily think I’m looking for a certain style but more a feeling from my home. ❤
Capt. Croc you have certainly stepped up you hootis game with the wallpaper smoothie thingie...when she spread the epoxy after the coffee....I was glad you did not show "the community our dark coffee secret"...wink wink... LOL...
And no I have never seen anyone apply flooring like y'all did...
Y'all are rock stars...!!!!👍👍👍😎⭐😜✔️
Let's just call it floor paper!
Haha, love it Raymond!
Imma 58 Year old and I never heard of put'n wallpaper on the floor with epoxy great job guys it looks good 👍
Thank you Stanley!
Spray a little soapy water before applying the wallpaper, then squeegee it out once it is in place. The water will allow you to slide the paper around until it is lined up, and also makes getting air bubbles out much easier.
For sure will do this next time and leave it to dry, then epoxy!
Are yall geniuses or what? I LOVE your idea!!! I would have NEVER thought of wallpaper being on the floor. I seems to come out awesome. Great job.
FHA n you so much!!
You can sand over epoxy with 600 sandpaper , before it sets up for a week , put another skim coat on and it will look like glass as long as you put a flame to it as you go , it wll also set up fast enough that bugs wont get stuck into it ! Love You guys and Woman !
Can we use just a regular propane torch?
How do you put a flame to it?????
Oooooo!!! How about a modern Victorian wallpaper on the half bath floor!!! You can go wild in a half bath😮
That is a really cool idea!
I had a 40+ year career in construction and retired 13 years ago. I've never seen wallpaper used as flooring. Looks great. Hope it holds up long term!
We have our fingers crossed!
I have never seen tis type of flooring technique used, it looks AWESOME !
I'm eating your Gumbo recipe as I watch your alligator mirror black floor!! Awesome!! Never seen or heard of such an application ever❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
😁
What a unique flooring look you've created! Well done indeed.
The closest thing to what you've done that I've seen is painted floor cloths that were sometimes used in colonial-period homes. Canvas cloth would be attached to the floor with glue (usually hide glue since that was what was common in the 18th century) and then painted over in various patterns. This was done primarily to close the gaps between floor boards to help keep drafts, dirt and bugs out.
Take care and God Bless.
I never heard of that but makes total sense! Thanks for sharing!
MAKING WALL PAPERED FLOORS GREAT AGAIN.........THE BEST IS YET TO COME.
I got nothing more say about this that everyone else has already said 👍😁 !!
Lydia Jim, LOVE how it came out!! Who'd thought putting wallpaper on a floor, other than y'all 😍 Pioneer Designers Y'all are!! Creative Geniuses!!
I think skies are the unlimited on your ideas that's incorporated in your home. Also think y'all are thinking outside the box wish is a inspiration to many people watching y'all too!! Shining 🌟'S !!
Cajun Country Family Lydia,Jim, Ladly 10+ + + 👍 ups !!
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead. 💖💛💙👍👍👋,😊
Thank you Thomas!❤️ we love to try new things and love to bases them with y’all!!😆 much love to you!!😁
@@CajunCountryLivin 👍👍, good night Lydia Jim Ladly 😍
Love this!!! You can put the little "slider things" under the chair and table legs to protect the floor. "Slider things" is a professional/technical word, LOL!!!
We sure will! That’s what we call them too. 🤣
We did something similar years ago, but we used torn paper.. brown paper rolls like paper bag paper. We painted the floor first, used a 50/50 solution of Elmer's glue and water which served as our adhesive material. The Epoxy appears to be much better after watching your video, but we used moisture cured poly.. three layers, allowing it to dry completely between applications. It looked gorgeous (like mahogany) and held up incredibly well.
I've seen the paper bags, brown paper used. They wadded it up first, then flattened it out & used the same adhesive mixture. It looked like leather when done. I've seen colored construction paper, and stickers used too. If you allow exposure to dry between coats, you must sand each layer. But if you apply the next coat in less than an hour, you don't. It won't separate between layers bcuz of the chemical reaction. If you get air bubbles in the epoxy, take a small propane torch and fan the flame over the surface until the air bubbles pop. But keep the torch movin. You don't want to blister the surface.
I have done that before on a house with my parents. It’s a beautiful look!
Oh, I've seen wall paper on the floor. That said, it was never on purpose. Did I mention I tend to be a messy project worker? What a cool idea and glad it turned out. Love your willingness to try something new and make it shine (literally!!) Not sure what made me chuckle more, the fly or the fact that ya'll (well, one of ya'll) was up past 4:30am! Nicely done and another great outcome to a creative solution!!
HAHAHA. I laughed way too hard as this. Matt, sorry to say but we would never work well together. 😂
Hi! That was me up past 4:30am. I don’t know what was worse though because Ladly gets up at 6:30am so Jim had to be up early too! Lol. I hate the fly did that, but it’s real!!
I LOVE the black wallpaper flooring! Y'all are pure GENIUSES! The floor looks GREAT! FYI I LOVE my steam mop. I won't go back to cleaning the flooring the old fashioned way. It's a GAME changer with just using STEAM.
Thank you so much Tammara!
Again, y'all knock it out of the park. Very impressive and I have never seen or heard of anyone doing that. 👍👍🏆. Have a great week y'all.
Thank you Timothy! Always have something up our sleeve. 😉
I've see construction paper torn in different shapes, over lapping each other, and trimmed with a razor for a sharp. straight edge along the outer edges. That was pretty cool too. Made a great baby girls bedroom.
I like that looks too!
I’ve heard of using brown paper bags torn and glued down like that. Then epoxy over. This is really a great idea..love the wallpaper ❤
Thank you so much!
My Cousin did the brown paper bags torn then epoxy over AND IT WAS GORGEOUS! looked like stone.
instead of paper bag, I used construction paper. I also painted the paper 3 different colors and spaced them out. I absolutely love it and I get tons of compliments when guests come over.
one of the biggests things I have learned through my life is never be afraid to let your creative juices flow and never back away from learning to maximize your tools 2 thumb's up
That’s so right Keith!
I’ve never seen it and I love it. Great smoothing hootis.
Thank you!
I have never heard of this being done before. But I still believe in the possibilities of new ideas. I am amazed at your spirit, and courage to try. I still believe you two are truly amazing. I'm still rooting for you. RichardB
Thank you very much Richard!
I like the fact that you used a gator pattern. And your hootus for the 'Do not walk here wall'. The one Pro you missed was the great break - coffee and brownies.
Very true! It was much needed at the time!
AWESOME!!!! Starting a new trend!!
It's starting with you!
Thank you!
I am 63 and have never seen this done on a floor. Y'all did a great job, and it looks awesome.
Thank you!❤️
Next time try a plastic scrapper with felt on the end it looks like a bondo spreader with a felt end they weren’t good for doing stuff like this or shelf paper or Decals or whatever you want to use it for.
Nice job on the floor 🇺🇸👊🏼
We sure will! Thank you Freddie! I knew you would give us a tip on a better tool!😁
THE FLOOR IS BEAUTIFUL!! The first look took my breath away and I love the black. I’m so glad you “dare to be different” and just don’t follow the crowd because it’s always been done that way”. I have seen wallpaper on a ceiling, but I like this better. What’s next!?!?
Thank you so much!!
Oh, you just wait. 🤩
Great job!! Added bonus, if one of those monster spiders gets in the house, it'll be easy o clean the guts up off the floor.
Wow. Wow. Wow. I’ve never heard of this before. Amazing! The hootis applicator was a fantastic idea!
Thank you Gary!
Look up paperbag flooring. It's so cool. People have made their floors look like stone just using paperbags.
Will do!
Oh where do I begin??? I love, Love, LOve, LOVE this channel. And no Kitten Prints or Chicken Prints!!!
Jimbo, you can not hold a candle to Timmy-Bob when it comes to doing the shimmy shimmy shake.
Please put felt sliders on every chair and table leg so you do not scratch that alligator's back.
Jim, I have to correct you on one small item -- the back of the peel-and-stick paper is magical stuff called "sticky".
Thank you so much!! Oh, you forgot toddler tracks!😂
Hahaha. 🕺
Sticky, perfect! Lol.
That’s a really cool and unique floor. I’ve never seen that done before. It almost looks like a marble floor. Nice job!
Thank you Marc!
Most excellent !!! Y’all gave me an idea to do our bathroom floors ….this is why I love your channel . Nailed it !!!
Awesome! Thank you!
I have never seen anything like that on the floor only on countertops and tables looks beautiful and love the gator print now you can make your floor wallpaper hootis into a sock puppet for the little one.🤣❤️😎🇺🇸
😁😊
Holy smokes you guys! At first I thought OK, the heat has gotten to them and they lost their minds.... BUT, what a surprise. I always work nights (6p to 6a) at an air medical helicopter program for the health system in our area (I might have told you this). Much more peaceful in the hospital at night (except of course our flight requests and the Emergency Room/trauma center). So I feel bad for you guys because if you are not night owls, being up all night can be not so much fun. Now, your project! Wow! Like previous comment(s), I've used windex (or water) when applying vinyl trim/lettering to ambulances when I sold them and doing other projects like WALL paper. Anything to allow for sliding the material and as the water or whatever dries the wallpaper will be just fine. hahahaha I laughed a little because I was thinking that's why it's called "WALL PAPER" and not "FLOOR PAPER". BUT, this looks incredible. And when you think about it you could do this to many projects like counter tops, table tops, etc. Once all the furniture is in the room it'll look awesome, even though it looks cool without. You're right, this might get responses equal to the dry pour concrete projects! woo hoo! I love it! Stay cool.
That is one stunning floor! WOWSERS!!
Thank you!!
I saw someone on tiktok do their countertop like this it looked great!! I love watching you guys because you guys are adventurous if nothing else.
That’s awesome!!
Looks great , maybe some rock design on your front entrance area....you 2 never cease to amaze me...
That’s a great idea! Thank you!
You are blessed to have each other to work with on these projects, y'all ❣️
We agree!❤️
Hey Y'all, That floor looks totally AWESOME!!!.... Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy,
Frank Scherping😅❤
Thank you Montana Cowboy!!🤠🤠
First time seeing anything like this on the floor.
WOW ! Now that's cool ! ! ! Alligator under glass, whoda' thunkit ? Great idea and job to both you ! ! ! I like it too ! You guys are the best !
Thank you so much David!!
Never seen wall paper used on the floor like this , but I would have to say it looks great . Nice job and now a ti.e for a nap !!! LOL .
Thank you Darren!!
At one point I wanted to use laminate lock together flooring on top of my plywood floor. It wouldn't lock due to plywood imperfections. I considered pouring a clear floor down to level everything and then going over it with laminate flooring.....ended up putting down roll vinyl flooring. Whatever works 😊 Good work and ideas 😊
😊😊
You guys make me laugh. You guys do the funniest coolest things I have ever seen. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!
There is a product called Rapid Tac that would probably be good to stick self-adhesive wallpaper. It is made to give wiggle room for such applications. Great job, y'all! It looks amazing. Fitting for Cajun Country! Keep up the good work!
I'm beginning to wonder what else y'all have up your sleeves. Simply amazing! 😸
In answer to your question, no, I have never seen this done before. But one suggestion if you try something like this again: Get a hootis called a J-Roller. It will really help to iron out air bubbles. Thanks, y'all, and I look forward to the next video.
We sure will! Thank you Ken!
That looks amazing and i as well have been a contractor for 40 plus years and never seen it done, Love it guy’s, your friend from Alaska
Thank you!!
Hey Captian Crock , now your Captain Sock Master Hootis maker ! Kidding , But your both doing an amazing job as it always good to think outside of the box !
Captain Sock! 😂😂😂 That’s great!!
I’ve seen epoxy floors in clean room construction, wall paper is a nice touch
I love it! Who would have expected Gator skin? 😁ME!! As you said, it is beautiful.
Haha YES!!🐊 you know us too well!
I love the alligator texture look. Never saw this new, ingenious application. The epoxy makes it look like glass. All-in-all= I love it 🤩
Thank you!! 😁❤️
Love the outcome of the floor paper 😅😅. I have never seen anyone do that kind of thing.
Thank you LaRue!😁😄
You might see imperfections - I see 100% SUCCESS! Great job y’all!
Thank you so much!❤️
You created your own laminate floor without having to buy those expensive floor boards. Great idea. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Thank you very much!
My husband and I so enjoy watching your videos. We have an old farmhouse that needs a lot of work. But just a question....if you would have painted the floor color of your choice. .then used a roller with alligator design in contrasting color...then epoxy...you maybe would have gotten a smoother look...just an idea...you guys have unlocked that in people! Any idea can work! Thanks! Great job!
Oh that’s such a great idea!!! I like that a lot!
You should have used your paint roller Hutis . That would let you evenly apply pressure to the wall paper. Great job.
Really good idea James!
Wow. What innovators y’all are!! Never heard of this, but it turned out great. I love the print!!
Thank you Martha!
10:13
The best Hootis yet 🤣
..and I've never seen wallpaper on the floor.
I must say it is not a bad idea, something I will consider in the future.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
👍👍
Thank you! It definitely turned out great in our opinion 😊
I noticed at the end it seems like the epoxy caused a glare from the light coming in. That glare would give me a headache quick and in a hurry! I love the way pattern you chose, truly cajun!! This would be an amazing application for an ocean or beach themed bathroom.
😊
50 year as a painter and never heard of this, looks great keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Being from Utah, I think a nice Rattle Snake Skin wallpaper under the epoxy would be mint (Seriously, I might try something similar in my shop with some different style paper underneath. Wouldn't work in my garage because, "I drop heavy things often", but in my shop it'd be good).
Very ingenious! Love the gator print in black - it looks great! Get some sleep now 😉
Thank you so much! We sure will.
I have never heard this application before! You guys are brave! Looks amazing!
Thank you!
I had the crazy thought to do wallpaper on the floor. I'm glad you tried and showed it!
Thanks!!
Hey guys…. I for one have never seen this , but man do I love it…..I’ve seen it on furniture, but floors….. I’m in!😊
Amazing look. You younguns are really dedicated to unique finishes for your home. I totally enjoyed this video. Being on your knees that long is what I’d call over the top. Keep it up you two. 👍
Thank you!
You guys never cease to impress me. Great job as usual!!!! Wow
Thank you Terence!!
It looks very cool. I watched the dry pour slab that you stamped. It might be fun to stamp or stencil the wallpaper before epoxy, if you found a more inexpensive base color. It would look like high end tile that way, but not the high prices.
Great idea!
Great floor guys well done to you both and i also love those window blinds as well.
Take Care and Stay Safe,
Barry (UK)
Thank you Barry!
Sock puppet floor paper smoothing hootis worked like a charm.
Well I never, you guys never cease to amaze me, have a great day.
coconut oil & peppermint oil will grow & strenghen hair back. way to go on thinking outside the box for flooring. good work
Rosemary also.
Thank you for the tip!
I haven't but it look absolutely beautiful just imagine in person
Thank you Estella!
Neat idea. However, I have used the exact same clear sealer and it WILL yellow over the next few years if exposed to sunlight (UV). Suggest you consider sunblock film on the windows, or keep them closed as often as possible. I confirmed this with the manufacturer Rustoleum.
Thank you for the info!
Wow, the floor is beautiful.
Thank you Jill!❤️
Never have seen this. So glad you all love it. I thought itcame out darker than I thought.😊
😁😁
Nice! alligator under glass! Very creative:)
Thank you!
the lil pebbles ,etc. is just part of it.. a straight pin will get rid of the bubbles using your hootis to mash out the air--i love the idea..I am an artist I can do some out of this world things that people laught at at first.
Thank you for all the tips!!!🤍
Flowerdy wall paper would be cool to see!
😊
Cool. I have seen several people do brown paper torn into random pieces then one side have a paste to stick it down.
Epoxy over that and it also looks amazing. Straight edges along walls and all pieces overlapped. Diyffernt channel is one look
up who did this.
Very cool!
That is the first time i have ever seen something like this. Can't wait to see what else you guys come up with..
We really love the way it turned out Robert! Hope you’re having a great week!
You guys never fail to inspire me to try new things. Thank you!!!
Thank you for watching Patty!
You guys are very adventurous, never seen this before. I've seen paper bag floor. thanks for sharing 🇨🇦☕🇨🇦☕
Thank you!!😁
That’s the most high tech hootis yet
Very high tech lol!
I think you should add another layer of epoxy and add some fine glitter to it as well after you apply the the last coat. I had that on my epoxy floors in out basement it was amazing. Makes the floor sparkle.
Love the floor! I did a similar project years ago on mine. I did paper mache with brown butcher block paper. Made my floors look like leather. Very durable and we loved them.
Very neat idea!
When you think of it, most vinyl flooring have coating like this for durability. You guys might be onto something new. Kudos to your imagination and the finished look.
Thank you!!
ROFL...I have heard of some crazy shit before, but this has got to be Number 1! But who is to say it's crazy if it works and you get the flooring you want. Really cool!
As long as it works! Lol.
I have never seen it, it looks really good. Now that we got our drypour project done and must say it came out great, I am afraid Jill is going to have us wallpaper it😊. Have a great week.
Yay!! That’s so awesome! Steve, just tell us what you want & we will do it next! 🤣
Btw, Lydia here, I was going to let you & Jill know that my grandpa received the Master Pilots Award earlier this year. I thought y’all might find that interesting!
@@CajunCountryLivin that is impressive congratulations to your grandpa. Jill and I probably won't get that award. Love the way you guys come up with new ways of doing things, keep up the great work.
Never seen or heard of that way to do a floor. But hot dang makes me want to do something like that now!! Absolutely love it
Heck yes! You absolutely should!!
