My dad was a cross country truck driver when I as a kid in the 70's, he had a friend in Louisiana that worked on truck engines and we went to his place to have the engine in my Dads truck rebuilt. While we were there his wife made Gumbo and many other Cajun dishes. The Gumbo stood out to me, I loved it! but never knew how to even start to make it! Thanks for the video! Peace!
First time on your channel, and as a northeastern boy with a few years of making gumbo under my belt, I truly enjoyed your video. And it's not only the recipe, but the humor, the accents, the family and the realism. These are the type videos I enjoy, and I might just have to subscribe. Good job, looking forward to watching more Cajun Country Livin' (Cookin'.)
I hope you and your family will all be safe in light of the upcoming storm. I've got relatives in Katy, TX and my heart goes out to all in this present danger.
David Centeno 0 seconds ago HI GUYS, I'M FROM ILLINOISEEE, JUST KIDDING. A CHICAGO BOY. LOVE YOU GUY'S. YOU HAVE A GOOD SPIRIT. I'VE BEEN LEANING ON SOME CONCRETE WORK AROUND THE HOUSE. YOUR INSPIRING. THANKS. I WILL TRY YOUR RESCIPE. LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!

Had to run an errand so I got my favorite food and came on back to the house and watched your video which still made my mouth water but I kept on eating my chili dogs and watching... Thanks so much for sharing your recipe yum yum... Love me some gumbo!
Never mix my seafood with chicken!!! I’ll use a lightly smoked sausage!! Mostly fresh mix sausage from best stop !!! My favorite is duck and oyster… i also do okra shrimp and dropping fresh eggs dropped into gumbo while on a slow simmer!!!! My gumbo normally will simmer 4 -8 hrr with out the meats!! I brown my meats really well, I’m in Abbeville !!!
Im so happy I came across your channel. I live in Baton Rouge, La and its awesome to see family on here. I love all y'alls content. Keep up the great work!!!
This looks amazing. I do recommend to you and others that may read this comment that y’all try the Cajun Two Step seasoning it’s my new favorite and his videos are funny as heck!!!
My wife and I love your videos! On the topic of cooking it takes food. So a video idea. It’s getting close to planning time and Jim’s dad has a fantastic looking garden. Can y’all get some videos of prep, planning, growing, and harvest. Then of course more cooking vids, fishing, building and whatever videos.
A few years ago we were riding around southern Louisiana on our motorcycles when we stumbled upon a nice Cajun deli located in a gas station. There we were introduced to fresh "Boudin Balls", what a wonderful delight. Perhaps you can show us how to make them. The gumbo looked very good, I was surprised by how little broth you used. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you!!! I been to Louisiana twice in my life because my mom and hear family from there!!! But I just couldn't do it to eat seafood but both time I did eat some fried alligator an stuff when I was down there Louisiana!!! . Watching your guys video say didn't have to stick a normal gumbo recipe because I could play with it because i didn't have have to cheicken and sausage gumbo !But next time I think some alligator meat to it. First I will. stick with chicken and sausage gumbo until I get use making it for while
Louisiana seafood boil i seen a lot from Louisiana and from what i see hands down Louisiana makes the best it's like the heart of Louisiana and its a signature meal and catfish best made by Louisiana you take a lot of pride in it and you should
@@CajunCountryLivin you show you do and i love it that you really do i myself do as well nothing like the big apple (pie) lol and its pizza lol i love it here i wish i could send you and you're daughter some ny pizza and sorry jim you're getting a little to big like me
Looks great and no complaints on the method. Patience. Lots of patience. Love all the other ideas, but there is something about a really well seasoned red beans and rice (with sausage of course). mmmmm.
This is down right mean!! Now I'm going to be craving gumbo all day! I need a "hootis bowl" full of gumbo and rice with some cracklin cornbread on the side. The best part of this video is the appearance of the "executive chef" with the cute yellow ribbon in her hair.🥰😁
It looks so great and my mouth is watery right now. I use to live part time in the Dominican Republic and we do some sort of the same meal....with 3 diff. types of meat and potatoes and yucca and smoked sausages as well. We cook it often when we go to the rivers and waterfalls on eastern time. I love your channel, you do such a great job. A shout out to the three gumbo cooks 😆
at 9:54 the pronunciation of oil by Lydia is awesome, i was born in Washington state moved to Idaho before moving to Louisiana, and yes, a dialect is very easy to pick up, now being in the UK for a bit it really confuses folks as to our dialect and pronunciations, as for the gumbo it looks great, and nope i do not do the Chitlins the girls love em nope not for me, an argument i here about gumbo is tomatoes i don't know i have eaten it both ways and don't care much for tomatoes in it. i do remember a cooking channel by Justin Wilson I GUARANTEE lol, the cooking vids are a cool switch up to the build as it shows more of who you are as a great couple, Dawn says thank you for the blessings. God bless you
Hey there Ernie! Yes it is definitely strange how the pronunciation of words can change in different regions. I don’t think I’d care for tomatoes in gumbo! Tell Dawn she is very welcome 😁
Just shorten that Gumbo bowls down to Gumbowls.........winner winner, Gumbo dinner! This is for sure goin' on my short list. I can see making it for a family GTG. Ladya is such a good helper.
That looks delicious. Never made Cajun at home. In KC we have Jazz - A Louisiana Kitchen. Great food. Red beans and rice would interest us. Love to see your take on it.
