What some fail to understand is that the insurance companies are saying these are losses due to flooding and if there was not flood insurance included, they aren't paying. Even those who lost property due to the mudslides are being turned down.

No, it was north of $300k. He and his GiveSendGo partner fronted $20k and hoped they would be able to recoup that initial $20k. LOL, they did! It grew even more when Patara joined forces with them. The response was just jaw-droppingly amazing!

No one had it since the likelihood of this event was so unlikely or cost to purchase was too expensive. A regular homeowners policy (hazard insurance) will not provide any coverage, and specifically excludes "flood."
Who can afford HOI? We had a good insurance company. Went to renew and they said would require a new roof, water heater ETC. Over 25,000 out of pocket for the privilege of paying 100 percent more for insurance. Over $6.300.00 a year. My buddy bragged he had the same insurance for over 20 years. A week after HELENE he was cancelled.

Then a group IFAW that is for animals, pets, livestock and wild, but they have people shelters where they can have their pets with them-I have not seen that done before and Daniel, son of Joel, Salatin of Polyface are helping with "The Fairbetter Fund" supplying for livestock.
I have been told when the speed of water doubles, the carrying capacity increases 64 times! It is impossible to comprehend the power of a 20-foot wall of water travelling 30-40 MPH or more, until its devastation has been seen.

Read the policy. If you don't have flood insurance, you're not covered for flood damage. Pretty simple.

Also most insurance companies policies have an. "Act of God" clause so they don't have to pay.
Most of the homes didn't have flood insurance, so they are not covered.
