Teenage boy arrested after 5 found dead inside home

- King County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Mike Mellis provided an update to a homicide investigation in Fall City on the afternoon of Monday, October 21, 2024.
Investigators said five people were found dead inside a home in Fall City Monday morning after deputies responded to a reported disturbance with gunfire involved.
Mellis said deputies found three school-aged children and two adults dead inside the home - another teenager who lived at the home was also taken to a Seattle hospital for their injuries.
A teenage suspect was taken into custody.
“This is a significant event for the neighborhood," Mellis said. "And I’d call it a significant event for the region.”

I would not want his job. He has to be so careful about every word he says. Cannot be emotional. He's speaking on behalf of local law enforcement to a public ready to find fault on all sides. And cannot say anything to compromise the legal process.
Every Sheriff Dept has an experienced officer who addresses reporters. It's a delicate position.
He is very calm and professional. Thank goodness there are people willing to serve their communities this way. What a tragedy.

This is the best presentation of its kind that I've ever seen. The officer tells what is known concisely and without a lot of pauses and is clear on what information is not yet known or not yet released, and why. All police departments and public services should have such excellent communicators.
Parents need to spend more time with their kids, not on media or gaming, or getting drunk or drugged.

The thoughts and prayers aren't working. The government needs to do something about this. A good start would be to acknowledge that there's a massively widespread epidemic of mental health issues in our country, and that based on that, it is not a good idea to have such lax gun laws.

@@alecb8509 I own multiple pistols and one rifle. It was easy to get each. All I had to do was pass a background check and wait a bit for the first one. Then. I got my CCL, and now I don't need to wait anymore. It's easy to buy a gun in Washington state.
