You're a real one for posting this. A lot of guys would have just done this in five or ten minutes and called it a day without sharing how they did it, thinking that it was a no brainer. I learned something today.
Always, ALWAYS check the fuses first.
Good job Brandon. I like that bike.
Y’all a bright spark right there. An electrifying video, my face lit up when I saw the life come back in. 😁👍🏾💯
A simple fix, for sure. My worry would be that the headlight is the culprit and will likely repeat the problem. A voltage draw check would likely confirm your suspicion. Your friend might want to consider a different light, even though that one is nice looking. Another good video.
I'm motorcycle shopping so I need people like you
Good job showing how to do it! It is always handy to know how to do this, and I do keep a spare fuse of each size and a puller in my kit.
I had this happen on a Triumph Speedmaster. It turned out that the headlight wasn’t grounded correctly. The ground would sometimes short and pop the fuse. I found the wire and fixed it, no more fuses blown.
Nice glad you got it fixed!
Here in FL we put dieelectric grease on all electrical connections cause of wet . Your video is very very very informative. Thanks.! Ride hard and free
back to back bangers my G applying that heat this year .Im here for it
Applying pressure Fam.
master mechanic! sweet hat bro! rockin it !!
Thanks for another great video. When you were showing the locations for the two screws that hold the seat on, the screw on the battery side, if there wasn't a cover on the positive terminal that could possibly ground out off the frame. Doesn't seem like a great place for that screw. No doubt it's a nice looking bike.
Garage goals.
Another great video brother, keep em coming
Great video! I wouldn't have thought to check the fuse. Good tip to keep in the back of my head for future troubleshooting.
It’s the widdle things first. 🤌🏾
Good stuff, man
Love the music you use man it just makes me feel like I'm hangin there with you. Dope video. Makes me wanna work on my bike but I'm still to inept lol
Start by simply taking panels off. It’s all legos lol.
Informative as always- diggin that hat my dude!
Ricky and Morty all day.
Good work B, I change out all the fuses when I get a good bike then put spares under saddle in case. Great tips dude. 🏴 cool bike 😎
Love love love my Victory motorcycles... good job!!!!
If there was a simple how to video on how to trouble shoot electrical issues, this is it! Definitely good advice and how to! It's true sometimes we look way to into it then we should. We should definitely use the KISS rule. (Keep it simple stupid) Great video again! Hasta luego!
Ah, it was a simple fix. Good to know. Couldn't find much info on this bike, and in fact, I found myself being routed instead to private dealers. Thanks for the vid.
Used to carry a bunch off those 15A ts/horn ones . My harness in rear was rubbed by tire, and I'd pop it every time I got wet till I fixed
Love it when it is something simple.
Great Video! Oh and now I know to keep fuses taped to the bottom of my seat...one of your commenters mentioned it.
The ignition switch changed mine out and it fixed the issue
Cool Victory!
Nice video..Cuddos for keeping a really clean garage 🤟
I wasn’t always like this but I’m on a mission to keep it clean now.
Great content. A man without tools isn't.
Yous guys are great love ya
Respect for getting owners permission.
Subbed
Victory motorcycles are pretty cool though. You really have a nice way about putting together your videos sir
Good example of how to diagnose and start with simple
Tool wall is looking good!
That wall is one of my greatest ideas this past year. Has sped up my workflow immensely.
side note: the victory cross country/magnum have a 40a breaker that fails sometimes but rarely.
Good Job man. You seem to know how a Victory works. I have a 2013 Victory Judge.
Not really, You don't blip the throttle on a Victory and ,you should know, NEVER start the bike without cracking the throttle slightly unless you are prepared to dish out a few hundred for a starter clutch.
Man, great video
🤓👏🏾
You are a lucky dawg.... most of the time that indicates there may be a high current issue that is not quite high enough to blow the fuse.
My honda actually has extra fuses under the fuse box cover
Great job taking the left side cover off! I would have shorted the battery to the mounting bolt for sure.
After market headlight would be my first guess as to the origin of the problem.
This is cool as ice cream fixing your friend's bike
I remember being super frustrated with my triumph thunderbird. Couldn’t get the check engine off or headlight to work. Come to find out relay was bad smh.
You can remove the fuse cover without removing the seat. Tab release and box slides out
Easy way to check/test fuses... cheapo harbor freight light tester even. Ground it out tap/touch each metallic top of the fuse being tested (two per fuse). Light comes on for both taps good fuse .... light doesn't come on bad fuse... remove, replace carry on. Great work on K.I.S.S. though & your other vids
I have a 2016 gunner and it is the best bike I've owned , for sure...
If it keeps blowing the fuse you may want to replace the main 40amp fuse. My Cross Country kept blowing the ignition fuse and after going through everything the culprit was a dying 40amp main fuse.
Also I ended up replacing all my fuses with self resetting fuses that look similar to the 68 Resistor. Yes they cost a bit more however, you don't have to replace them.
Good tips! Will watch out for the main.
and can also get fuses that light up when they blow, so u can see at a quick glance which fuse is blown.
The fuse box a k ides out no need for removal of seat but great content awsome
Considering it's 2 allen bolts, easier to take it off than risk breaking the cover.
Love a simple fix, always work your ways upward. Interesting that the seat has to be removed to get to the fuse box.
I’m sure it could be done without removing the seat but I’m not gonna struggle if I don’t have to. 😂
@@BrandonBicasso true, I have been able to simply fix most things quickly but I’ve also stopped to help others when we had to get them a tow.
@@BrandonBicasso Sure can, there is a locking tab on the bottom It releases the whole box as it will slide out.
When you pulled the side panel off, I noticed an Allen key. Did it fit those seat bolts? If it did, thats a sick trick that Victory added to make a on the road fix easier.
Pretty sure there’s an Allen key set on it somewhere. My 109 has a tool kit on the seat. Most bikes do but I wasn’t paying attention on the Vic.
Man, that is a NASTY sounding bike. A pretty awesome chunk of american steel for sure. I will never not be mad that Polaris pulled the plug on them, no reason they couldn't have existed alongside Indian. I never really thought about it, but it probably is a pretty good idea to carry spare fuses haha
Don't you just love it when it's just a fuse?? Had a similar issue with my Super Glide, simple blown fuse.
I have always thought those Victory Gunners were wicked looking.
I know this is old and I didn't read all the comments but you shouldn't have to remove the seat. Both my cross country and Kingpin have a tab on the side/bottom of the fuze box that allows you to slide it to the side to release and the whole box comes out. It makes more sense the first time you find the release.
No need to remove seat, fuse box unclips and swings out. Real easy job.
shame the victory isnt produced anymore.
The next step is to figure out why the fuse blew. Maybe a wiring issue...
You should pick up a DMM, digital multimeter. Great for checking fuses when you can't see through them and diagnosing electrical issues. Not expensive and just good to have available.
Good tip as well! I have one in the garage. 💪🏾
@@BrandonBicasso Haha! I paused the video when you were putting your tools back to see what you had. In retrospect, I doubt anyone hangs a DMM on the wall.
@@davefaust7317 I have a box full of stuff I’ve yet to put up there. If I could put everything up there I would. Still figuring out placement on some stuff.
Think on all the victory bikes Fuze box on same side maybe others not in the same place
I have a tbr exhaust on my judge, how does he like it?
Loves it! 💪🏾
Calling a fuse as the issue, just started watching the vid. Speaking from experience.
You’d be right!
@@BrandonBicasso same thing happened on my sportster, couldnt think what the issue was while i was on the trip, but once i got home and realised not only the speedo was not working but several other things is when i figured out it was a fuse......tldr check bike to see how many things are not working if its more than one check the fuse. My culprit was a shitty wiring job on a tailight by a previous owner
1) I would suspect the horn or a chafed wire, and 2) that low oil means no oil pressure (since engine isn't running...normal). Good job.
Def was a chafed wire. Had to hunt it down.
Check the fuzes own a victory v92 very little work has to be done guess own a Harley too some many parts all iam missing engine frame
hopefully it was just an old fuse and not a intermittent short, those suck lol. good vid
What's the dimensions on the FMB Merc bars? 12 up w/ 10 pullback?
No idea unfortunately. I'd reach out to FMB. This isn't my personal bike.
Needle noise pliers works all the time
Good job, it may be a good idea to just swap out "ALL" of them, since there isn't so many, and the bike isn't brand new , so there may be others that are/could be on their way to "blowing" also.
Yep. That’s a great idea.
Someone might have already commented it but Victory motorcycles always reads "lo oil" when the ignition first gets switched on. It goes away when you start the bike or the error code would stay if the oil was actually low after the bike was started.
I figured it would. What threw me off was it went away the first time and lingered the second.
I have a '16 Highball and I have never seen that light come on. Lol
🔥🔥
What handlebars are on that gunner?
FMB Choppers
Hey man I have a 2006 Vegas why would you get parts
Outside of Polaris, used market like eBay probably.
Don't 4get to check the oil!! 👍
I know its a bit too late but are those handlebars from witchdoctors??
FMB choppers mercenary bars.
Those led headlights need to face up to down not left to right I made the same mistake
I like victory motor cycles.
Pickle rick fixes everything!
hopefully that's the end of it. there might be a reason why it blew in the first place..nice work👍
I like easy fix. I wonder how much a dealer would have charged? That would give you a tell tale sign of what kind of dealer you have.
That’s a fantastic question. 🧐 My Suzuki dealer, probably nothing because I have a relationship with them.
Good stuff… Also is that 200 on the speedo? Victory ain’t playin LOL
That mf will bury that needle too 😂 I’m kidding 🤣. I’d be terrified to do anything close to 200 on this thing.
That's 200 kilometres per hour, for metric markets like here in Oz. 🇦🇺👍🤘
Awesome - that’s why I keep spare fuses taped to my seat
Wise.
well done.🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
You must find out why the fuse blew, and there is no oil pressure if the engine is not running.
Throw some engine brightener on that thang man! It'll make the black paint on the engine pop
This isn’t my bike to make those kind of decisions. Most it’ll get is a wash from me and it’s cold af out right now 😂. Good tip though.
All my fuses are good, but i have no break light or running light, when i do turn signal all blinkers come on, any ideas why
Check the connections at the brake light.
@@BrandonBicasso will do, and now when i turn signal left or right, all lights blink like hazards, ugh
Yeah def check the physical connections. The brake light in my situation had corroded connections.
@@BrandonBicasso so, i took the rear fender off and wires were cut! Simple hour repair! This bike is powerful with beautiful sound. So anyone else have issues with rear lighting, check fuses then proceed to take off rear fender, way easier than harley. I aint goin back harley
Ayeee that’s awesome! Simple fix.
Like your videos those fuses looked a little corroded a little dialect grease would protect them.
Def a good idea.
Cool deal, let's ride
Thats a nice bike. Too bad they're almost impossible to find.
Brandon neither is my wide glide check this out
You fixed the fuse but likely didn’t fix the cause. The location of the fuse box is piss poor being so close to the rear exhaust pipe. This can cause the fuse links to degrade. This might be the issue but if Polaris was that careless with design then likely they were careless with wire routing too. I wouldn’t be surprised if this keeps happening.
I would tend to say the problem might happen again. Fuses don't just blow for no reason. Time will tell.
Well, technically it didn’t blow. Just got a tad crispy.
Pickle Rick!!!!
When I was an apprentice, I watched qualified technicians tear the bike and their hair out looking for a reason for a fault. 9 times out of ten it was a blown fuse. My apprenticeship master said to me, remember that every single time you come across an electrical fault.
Yes, but usually a reason the fuse blew.
@@340rps in most cases yes. In some cases they just fail.
However, if the new fuse blows immediately, then you can find the case. You start with the simple things first, then dig deeper.
You don’t dig a 10ft hole 20 feet down only to fill it back up to the 10ft mark.
Allen key ?? Socket head just termananalgy
I wish Polaris makes this bike again... Oh they are making the new Chief now? Nevermind...
Kermit the Tech
My worry is what blew the fuse. The fuse box and the fuses look Chinese to my eyes, never good. Invest in a tube of dialectric grease for the grommets that hold the side covers in place. It will keep them supple for decades.
Right. For me to know, I'd have to go through the wiring and see if some of the components are using too much power. Might save it for another day. If it's not constantly popping fuses, I'm not gonna worry about it.
@@BrandonBicasso
Could have happened during the "upgrade". So your plan of action is correct. I still don't like the looks of the fusebox. Damn thing doesn't even hold the fuses straight. The fuses look like HF assortment quality. Also not good. Chinesium. Our athletes should not be competing there. Ride safe, bro. Suzuki and HD got your back....for now. Nothing is perfect, ever.
When you getting a bagger?🤣
You’re in time out for using the B-Word.
@@BrandonBicasso oops 😬
It is not stock, So when you mess with a stock bike you create your own problems, Non Stock parts
Actually there isn't a fuel guage or display on that model. Only a idiot light telling you need gas.
I owned the same bike...my only pet peave.
I was going off the fuel light and the mileage count.
@@BrandonBicasso Yup....me too
you can actually remove the fuse block. there’s a thumb tab at the bottom. lift it and slide to left or right. comes right out
Yeah, didn’t want to break it still. Tight fit.
