I hated Indian bikes and hated them being revived, but I liked Victory. I said I would have liked to have seen Victory tradition into what Indian is, but they could not have done it. However now I like what Polaris has done with Indian and think the Scout looks great which is essentially this bike. I love the Indian line and they stick to the classic look and give way more bang for the buck than Harley. Never thought it would happen, but I am on a brand new Indian Challenger and love it.

Went to an Indian dealership just the first part of this week on my Victory Jackpot Extreme. Road a couple of bikes. Heavy and clumsy compared to mine. Came back outside to leave and there 4 guys standing around my bike. One guy excitedly ask "Man are you trading this in?" I said "No way". His look sad the said "You want to sell it?" "No was my reply. I get this kind of reactions every where I go. Polaris really screwed up dropping Victory. I would buy an Octane also if I needed more bikes.

I can understand why they dropped them the Octane was a great bike but they only sold 4 thousand of them total, you can't keep an entire brand alive based on one model that isn't making record number sells, really should have just rebadged it as a scout and kept it.

It's not that Victory did anything wrong, it's just Polaris wanted to put all of their focus into just one motorcycle brand and Indian was more established. And they know water cooled motorcycles are the future. That's why they have so many awesome Scout options and they beautiful Challenger out.

    • @hps1955

I work as a motorcycle mechanic at Indian motorcycles and it's exactly what you said they wanted to focus on the Indian brand and have no competition against the Indian brand because Indian had a better sales record than victory did so they wanted to keep it that way plus they didn't want to have to deal with all these different bikes models and parts.

I bought the matte grey Octane and all my HD friends laughed at me...."why'd you buy a girls bike" ...UNTIL they tried to race me and all they seen was my tail light. It was funny , I raced 5 different Harley's that night and one after the other got humiliated. One guy spent tons of money on an engine build and mods for his sportster and I smoked him with my bone stock Octane. They weren't laughing anymore. I told them you just got beat by a girls bike. Since then I've added exhaust, hi-flow intake, and tuner. GAME OVER!!

This is what I ride. Awesome bike! Not really that comfortable an hour into a ride, tank is rather small, and breaks could be better. The heads are better flowing with more aggressive cams than the Scout heads which gives it the extra HP over it. Awesome bike none the less.

When I was looking for my next bike I looked at the Victory Judge and the Road Star Warrior. The only reason why I didn’t buy the Victory was because the local HD Dealer was the only one who would be looking after the Victory if something went wrong. When I go to the local HD Dealer you get the feeling that they will charge you for breathing the air whilst at the shop. So I went for the RSW and I couldn’t be happier. It was actually Sean’s test ride of one that sold me. Thank SRK from Down Under😎😎

Loved this machine when it came out, great bike, good price. The year victory closed its doors was the year I was on the fence and leaning towards Victory cross country tour instead of Indian or going back to Kawasaki for a big touring v twin. So bummed, bought a well used Indian Roadmaster, very reliable bike but it was more a fair weather bike than I realized initially, and the brand got too expensive for me. Looking back I should have bought a new Victory and got all the bells and whistles, it’d still be in my garage today, unlike the Indian.

Lets clear up about the whole Scout/Octane thing. The Scout actually started life as the "Octane version 1." Then Polaris re-badged it as the Scout for the 2015 model year. They then went back and did more development on the Octane and made changes that made it into the "Octane version 2" which is the bike we have today. So for all those that are saying it is basically a Scout, well it is the other way around. The Scout is basically an Octane!
Oh and both models were made side by side in the same plant. They are sibling bikes.

I was so upset when I found out they stopped victory. They were my favorite bikes. I definitely liked them much more than Harley’s. I have a 2004 Victory Vegas with the original 92ci motor and I absolutely LOVE it with the victory performance exhaust on it it’s one of the best sounding bikes I’ve ever heard and that’s the one thing I hear most often from others. It has torque for days but there are two huge problems with it that I wish I could have changed the first was the fact that those earlier Victory’s had a 5 speed transmission I wish it had a 6th so bad on the highway if I’m cruising at 90mph which is my preferred cruising speed the RPM is just sounds too high for my comfort and I always wish I had a sixth gear to shift into at those times. But the main problem which is actually a Major problem I found out is common with those early victory’s is they are prone to clutch failure as in the clutch cable ripping and then your clutch lever being useless and you basically have no clutch. It happened to me once like 200 miles from my house I was on the highway getting ready to get off on the exit I pulled in the clutch to downshift and the clutch just ripped imagine being in the middle of nowhere and just losing your clutch. I found out that’s happened to a lot of people with that bike. I still have the bike but I’m worried about taking it certain places and I lube the clutch cable regularly now with that little device meant for it. Obviously a perfect solution for that problem would be to simply put on a hydraulic clutch system as opposed to cable. My favorite Victory besides the Octane is the Hammer my dream bike would be the newest Hammer available with the 106ci motor in all blacked out I love that fat rear tire on it. I have a 2020 Indian Scout Bobber the 1200 and the matte black Paint on it is turning out to be a nightmare but i absolutely love that bike so much so hearing you compare it with the octane made me want to ride one so bad. Personally for my taste the exhaust on the one you had was a bit too quiet other than that I loved it.

Daaaaaamn do I like that exhaust note! Not obnoxious, but clearly has balls! Such a shame that parts will only be available for a few more years, and that there's not as much part compatibility with the Scout. That's a gorgeous bike!

Wrong there are loads of aftermarket parts for all victorys. Thats a very common misconception, until u get one and realise parts are not a problem at all. And this is coming from a guy with a victory highball and a victory cross roads. Never had issues finding parts and iam on the other side of the world in Australia.

He’s got this listed for $7600 and it’s got less than 5k miles on it. basically new. If I was back from deployment (overseas military) I’d buy it now! Octanes are getting rare they only made a couple 1000 of them.

Also; it sounds stock (too quiet), so a Stage One upgrade should add a few more ponies.

Water cooling makes for more parts to break down and adds to the price of production but I would say the benefits outweigh the cost.

Great bike and you can see the Arlen Ness touches in the design. Sad that Polaris shut them down but once they acquired Indian their days were numbered. If you bought a Victory the concern would be - can you still get parts for it? If yes, then for how long ?
