    I bought a Victory Vision Tour after surviving a life threatening bought of Cancer. I had not ridden in 35 years and am 6' 6" and about 290 lbs. This bike is a dream. It cruises like a Cadillac, leans almost as much as a sports bike, and can Turn at idle in it's own length. It is the best $6000 I ever spent. As a past marketing man, Victory failed because of poor marketing and Polaris not taking advantage of their vast recreational vehicle dealer network. They are doing better with the lessons learned through Victory's failure with Indian, but they also really caused bad blood with the loyal Victory owner. My Victory is a great bike and I have no intention of getting rid of it.

      My friend nearly died in a motorcycle accident 2 years ago. He had his hip and leg surgically re-assembled and went through an entire year of re-hab, with his goal of buying another bike and riding again. He got through it and bought a "new" (used) bike. However he had hardly ridden it at all when his wife *"soft-guilted"* him into giving it up. You can I'm sure, understand the angle she used. I can't blame her.
      The irony is he'd just completed a 10-day "hard butt" ride from coast to coast and back without an incident, and then a week or 2 later got in that wreck less than a mile from his home!

    I picked up an 05 Hammer in August 2021. Only had 1,400 miles. After replacing the fuel system and getting everything else straight from it sitting for so many years, it's a brand new 05 Hammer, and it's the best bike I've ever owned. Reliable, fast, and unquestionably beautiful. Comfortable to ride, even on long distance trips. It'll cruise at 95 mph in 6th gear all day long. It's smooth as silk and quicker than a damn rattlesnake. That 100 cubic inch motor is no joke, and the 6 speed transmission means it's fantastic on the highway. Wouldn't trade my Victory for any other bike out there. It's definitely not for sale!

I've test-ridden Indians and think they are phenomenal motorcycles so kudos to Polaris for bringing Indian back and keeping it alive. Yes, corporate decisions are sometimes heartbreaking but you've got to pay the bills. HD needed competition, got it from Victory and now has it from Indian (plus the Japanese and European manufacturers). Overall, Victory and Indian have made HD better and not worse.

      I always thought the same, HD needed competition from an American brand. While Victory was able to push them, it was unfortunate that most didn't even know the brand existed. I've always thought that Victory needed to advertise more than just here and there in a couple magazines directed to motorcycle riders. I was glad to see Indian at least show up at a few shows and then really started getting in on the flat track racing. Hopefully they will be able to get new riders into the fold and keep innovating. And hopefully HD will not just fall back on it's "we're only trying to sell to old fanbois" attitude and keep pushing new areas like the PanAmerica.

    I bought a 2013 Cross Country Tour brand new off the showroom floor and still have it. 53000 miles on the ticker and no plans to get rid of it. I do like the new Challenger, and rumor has it that was originally going to be a Victory bike before the Big V folded.

      I heard the same thing about the Challenger. Even if it's not true, I like to think the reason it's getting such a good response so far is because it was originally slated to be a Vic. I haven't ridden one (yet!) but I hear they are amazing!

I even saw the 108 challenger motor as a victory cross country prototype before they canceled the brand . I think ithe motor will will actually bolt into my bike. Mine is Maximus tuned with LLoyds air filter and 501 Lloyds cam ( already had tri oval pipes ) and sits at 115 hp an tq. The only bike that could move me away would be the new Indian Challenger with PP 108 motor that Victory was designing to replace the 106, or a fixed fairing Indian PP 108 model rumored to be in production.

    I am a Harley rider, but always liked the Victory bikes and felt that they were on the right path to being a true HD competitor. Just like Buell, in which HD gave up on them too soon, Polaris gave up on Victory too soon. As well, Polaris didn't do a great job of promoting Victory and I think that because of that they never became a known commodity.

      What will likely happen is some of the larger dealers will buy up all the left over stock they can get their hands on and keep selling into the future . It's what happened with Buell parts which aren't really carried by HD dealers anymore since they stopped selling them in 2010 , but a couple dealers still have almost a complete parts inventory available for now . You just have to know where to look once you own one you'll find out pretty quickly since basically they use derivatives of 90's and early 2000's HD parts so you'll need replacements .

I bought my victory Judge used from a Harley dealer when I was ready to move on from a Vulcan 800, it was less than half the price of a comparable harley softtail at the time. Victory was taking off and then they shut it down. People were beginning to get a victory over a Harley Davidson. The victory was a bullet proof design with a single oil fill, single oil drain, air cooled and a gear drive American bike.
    Victory was selling and was about to peak in 2014/2015/2016 as you began to see more of them on the road until Polaris went to the Indian instead which was a bad move. If Polaris had of put the same energy into Victory like they did Indian Victory could have been huge.

      @Cpt-Night-ajg 3 роки тому +1

      @@John_shepard yes! The octane itself has a tone of different styling cues as well. In practical performance, cams in the engine and the drive train are tuned for shorter closer gears, delivering way instant torque at lower RPMs than the Scout. The tire selection is mean for sharp performance and better cornering than the fat tires on the Scouts. Overall shape and major structure of the engine are similar but they feel and look so very different. That is why I made a comparison to different Harley Softtails. The Harley Softail may ostensibly all the use the same engine but they can feel and perform very difference across the line up. And the octane and Scout actually have different engine characteristics between them that the Softtails don't have between themselves.
      I want a new Scout because it's the closest thing to the Octane, but if the Octane where still made the scouts would be dead to me.

    I would still like to own a Victory Cross Country. My challenge is I don’t have that level of money to gamble with. What I mean is this: If I had $11-$13k that I could spend and not be concerned about whether Victory parts would be available beyond 2027, I would buy a Cross Country tomorrow. I would take it on cross-country ride, then relegate it to Sunday afternoons & keep it as a family heirloom. Another bike would be for general riding. But, I don’t have that kind of spare money to risk, so I can’t do it-not yet! My current ride is a 2007 Vulcan 1600 classic-great reliability & power (torque is amazing) but I’m much older now and the Vulcan is top-heavy on the front end. For years, riders have raved that the Victory baggers are nimble and great at low speed steering. Great video & research. Thanks.

    Still resentful myself, Polaris stabbed Vic owners in the back. Polaris never really promoted Victory, it was a half effort, support from Polaris was poor, service at the dealerships was about the same, thank the gods Victory was almost trouble free. The biggest support came from the independent service shops that specialized in Victory, as well as performance improvements, places like Conquest Customs, The Vic Shop, Nometz Designs, and of course, Lloydz. Everyone said Victory was a dead brand, but, thanks to the love for it by the owners, it's going strong! 👍
