Kevin Rivera it’s definitely worth the premium. B58 stock feels just about as powerful as a stage 1 bm3 n55. Also, the interior updates and exterior lighting updates give the car a more premium feel and i simply love all the changes bmw made. Although, the 335 is still a great car. You can’t go wrong with either one.
The reason the fog lights are on some models is because they dont hvae the track package. The track and handling package removes the fog lights in place of better air ducts and coolers and upgraded brakes. Great video comparison very clear and concise. Keep up the great work.
good job on the vid, and appreciate the info about the unplugged exhaust. just bought a '15 335i GT and noticed this was disconnected. I'm looking to go single exhaust and BM3 stage 1...hoping it will sound at least a little like my old '97 TT Supra
The indicator lever is different. Moreover there is now a "AUTO" position for the rain sensor. I have an F30 318d myself and the LCI updates are really worth it, especially the 6WB and the completely reworked idrive system.
I love the performance of the newer headlights and taillights but love the look of the old ones much better. Im pretty sure the M performance sticker as an option came with the M performance package. Otherwise it was just an aftermarket sticker. Also, the cold weather package in my f30 335i came with heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. I subscribed just to see the side by side race.
For any of the b58 generation cars that are a 3 or 4 series f platform, fog lights are standard. They are deleted when you get the factory track and handling pack because the space where the fog-lights would occupy are replaced by extra oil coolers. The track handling pack gave the car the extra oil coolers (from the M3), upgraded front/rear breaks, and adaptive suspension.....The N55 or pre LCI (facelift) F generation 3/4 series never had fog lights until mid cycle 2015 builds, where they put fog lights standard on M sport models on the cars until the end of their production. All non Msport models for every 3/4 series always had fog-lights...
Very nice vid...Another notable difference between powerplants are the water pumps and the deck design. The electric water pump on the n55 will usually fail about every 60k miles and can be incredibly difficult to change. And the B58 has a closed deck so that an upgraded FMIC is usually not require when doing bolt on mods.
I’m sorry but this funny. What you’re saying doesn’t make sense. You are talking about two totally unrelated things. The block design has nothing to do with intercooler choice. Yes the n55 is open deck and the b58 is closed deck. All this changes is that b58 is stronger structurally, and should had less issues holding higher power. Now onto the intercooler, the reason you do not see intercooler upgrades for the b58 is because the b58 has an air-to-water intercooler which is integrated into the intake manifold. The n55 has a traditional air-to-air inter-cooling setup, so it’s very beneficial to put a larger tank in an area that it can catch the coldest, highest volume air flow. That’s why you see a FMIC or Front Mounted InterCooler on so many 335i is that it makes more power by more efficiently cooling the post turbo (or charge) air prior to it hitting the combustion chamber. This is one of the many tricks the b58 has and why it performs so well, the air-to-water setup is both more efficient for heat removal unlike the entire system is soaked, and also cools the air literally right before it enters the head.
Great video! I have 340 i luxury package like to modify front grill to look like m sport package also modify pedals you think Original Bmw pedals or $25 amazon pedals looks the same and no drilling . Your opinion please? Thank you gary
Nice comparisons. Can anyone tell me why M Brakes are deleted when you have Z5Z w/ PF2? Looking back on ordering guides its an additional cost for the different wheels but they remove the breaks. I can only assume it's something to do with the wheels...?
the 2014 has a oil cooler instead of foglights.... the 2014 is 100lbs lighter in the engine area... so in essence it handles better... I bought a 335i 2015 over the 340i just for those reasons alone...
I have questions about the 340i do every b58 come with the adaptive led headlights or is it specifically made for the m package and the executive packages, and another question is the head up display the same thing
I look on google and see "euro" conversion on rear fog lights, so maybe U.S. have some dumb legislation about rear fog lights, very helpfull in heavy fog
yo I have a question I got a 2013 335i recently and I was thinking about upgrading to LCI and also getting the 6wb gages and the panel that lights up the interior but someone told me that those need a different battery and that both cars have different electrical supply is that true? also if it is the same battery does it have the same fitment and modules ?
Master Gamer lci tails need a harness. 6wb needs coding. I’m not sure about the battery though. I could see why that makes sense, but don’t think the 6wb and ambient ac lighting will draw so much power
So if i'm obliged to go to the 328 heading for less maintenance the tuned one could be enough for power compared to the 335. But again looking mostly to a 335i what is your advices for me and yes searching for a 2014 or 2015 such for more technology and more approvement then the older molders right??

Dylan Crosby hope you ended up with the car Dylan! They’re amazing and have proven to be reliable so far. Highest mileage b58 I know is at 58k and it has been trouble free
Hey man, i’m looking to purchase a f30 335i with the n55 engine. I see that you started with about 30k miles or so have about 60k now. I was wondering how reliable it has been for you and has the maintenance and cost to own it been really high? i love the entire car and that is my only concern. how has yours been for you?
Matt Lemieux hey matt lucky for you that exact video is coming up. I’ll be talking about my experience with the n55 from 22k miles to 62k miles. Overall, it’s very solid. Headlights with the preLCI were partially LED - the main light was Xenon, the daylight (halos) were LED since 2011
