5 Reasons Why You SHOULDN'T Buy an "UNRELIABLE" BMW 335i ► • 5 Reasons Why You SHOU...
Many people online choose to put the down the BMW 335i as a terrible car option calling it a money pit that you'd be better without. All the negative online noise inspired me to make this video and showcase reasons why it's an excellent car to buy especially if you're looking for a tuner car with massive potential. I have owned my 2008 BMW e93 BMW 335i for nearly 5 years, so rest assure what I talk about in this video is actual personal experience and not information I got from someone that has 0 experience owning one. That said there are reasons why you shouldn't buy one and I'll make a video on that topic is this video performs well, so make sure to like it and share with a friend!

I want to do all the upgrades u listed I just got 2008 335i it’s in perfect condition
Scotty is gonna be triggered by this.
Lol who dat
@Tango1080 excellent!
my experience with a 745Li, always failing emissions, coolant leak, random electronic failures, and an air injector that was going $4k to fix, i traded it for a 300c and never looked back lol.
@@vursuh Scotty Kilmer, got 2.5 mill subs on UA-cam, Don't worry I'd never heard of him before this comment as well lol. ✌️👊
@@vursuh I just recently found Scotty too. He talked me out of BMWs 😂
Either work on it yourself or find a good cheap mechanic that you can trust , but never take it to a bmw dealership then you’ll be spending a lot of money lol
good and cheap mechanics dont exist
@@Chibanator97 I have a cheap mechanic & my neighbors a mechanic who does it dirt cheap
Charbel Al-houkaim yes they do! Lol
Charbel Al-houkaim i know one but only because my dad is good friends with him
Take it to them for diagnosis. Indie/local mechanic for work and DIY for easy stuff like oil, spark plugs, ignition coils, rear shock absorbers.
I've only owned my 07 for 3.5 years. Aside from regular maintenance, I've only experienced water pump failure and oil leaking from valve cover.. Both DIY fixed.
Milage?
How do you fix a leaky valve cover yourself?
I have to say there's nothing like watching an enthusiast speak to owning his car, and what can be done to personalize it, especially one who's owned his car for several years. Your five reasons to own the 335i all seem solid evaluations. Please publish 5 reasons not to own (or what to watch out for when purchasing; any advice, and that sort of thing is helpful towards making a wise decision). Keep on keepin' on, man!
Scotty Kilmer be like
ENDLESS MONEY PIT THIS! ENDLESS MONEY PIT THAT
Some say, as soon as Scotty finds a buyer for his Celica, his getting a 335i.
is true tho
Its not like he is a mechanic or anything. Who has repaired countless number of cars and has noticed a common theme.
@@TheMezzy712 e46 m3 is the only bmw Scotty said he'd buy
Alumnikiid yeah cuz people drive them like an Econ. A bmw is NOT an Econ. Premium gas and full synthetic only. If your too lazy for that you shouldn’t own a BMW regardless of your income. Be handy and take care of it and it’ll get to 260k-280k before it dies
Took the words right out of me, people who talk down on bmw’s have never driven one, let alone owned one 😂 thanks for putting on for the bmw community!

Luis Martinez or maybe we have but aren’t fanboys to a badge.
Straight bullshit, We owned an x3 and sunk a shit ton of money in it to even get it to run, (Under 100k miles). It's fun whilst in warranty sure. Once it's out of that, Ditch that shit or you may aswell just push it into a river.
Cope. Cope.
You're absolutely spot on - every time I get on my 335i, the thrill of driving the beast is undeniable. Keep up the good work!
Damn dude, i was searching for a playlist like the one you have on the 335i for a long time. I can find everything i need here. Thank you and keep up the good work!
7th Reason: Theres an available Coral Red Interior option
JohnStax I have that on my 328i man it’s nearly impossible to find a 335i with red interior
I have it with my 335i :D
My car: space gray - coral red ❤️
The red interior makes any BMW look badass
That everyone has so it's not even that unique.. lemme guess your car is also white?
On my way to buy a 335i after watching this

That's a great video !! Just purchased a 2007 335 xi manual yesterday and your info helps A LOT ! By far , some of the most useful info around and I'll be doing some of the upgrades u've mentioned!
owned a 2013 “Is” loved it and had zero issues. Currently in a 2018 F80 M3 ZCP, dude, no comparison.Great clip BTW.
How many times did I say "335i" in this video? *Hint:* 11 times in the first 2 minutes alone 😂

Hey! On the very same page, people in India assume VAG cars are very expensive to maintain and me being a VW owner, *believed this!* Yesterday, I searched for Volkswagen Vento spare parts price and compared it to Hyundai Verna, *and Hyundai spares were more expensive than VW!*

@Lou 😀😁😗😁 are you modifying it?
great to hear some positive news on the BMW. I have a lovely 530 which is a 2004 and its still beautiful and a joy to drive.
Love this video man! I recently purchased my own 2008 BMW 335i and im really excited about potential mods in the future after seeing this video.
Sweet ride! Been doing some research on the 335, this video has some of the best info that’s helped me, planning on buying one near the end of this month!
Thanks Christian, I really appreciate the fact that you having owned a BMW can show us and tell us about your experience with the car versus someone else who has not. Thanks for the video it was wonderful and I look forward to more! Best wishes and peace out!
Appreciate you always dropping by 👊🏼

Picking up an 08 335xi tomorrow night. Can't wait! This video has me amped!! Thanks for the content! You have a new subscriber! 👍🏼
Yes. Very smart for starting to make videos about this car. I actually just started looking at one of these.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm now a proud owner of a 2006 E92 335i tuned to 440whp by it's previous owner which was an engineer himself. The car had every known issue fixed and had new turbos on it after the BMW recall in warranty. Coming from a Mk5 GTI, this car is so much more raw and aggressive. I love it.
👊🏼
You are the happy owner for the next 1-2,000 miles!
@@berrymucuckiner4890 I've put about 20k on it and no issues so far 😉
I bought an “unreliable” 535i , I love it and can honestly say I haven’t ran into anything more than maintenance costs (mostly fluids and brittle plastic parts)
I’ve had my “unreliable” 335i for 7 years. I bought a E90 M3 a few years ago and couldn’t stand to trade in my “unreliable” 335i so now I have both. The only issue I‘ve had with my 335i was the water pump and that was no surprise. Other than that, like you, only maintenance costs.
Chris Wallace would you agree that (idk about the 335 but Atleast mine) these cars are not the best for diy 😅 due to tight spaces, weird tools, and plastic that gets old and breaks very often
@@jarrettg6634 I’ve left a good bit of skin in those tight spaces. 😂
hey how many miles did you get yours with?
Man you hit the nail on the head about the linear power delivery. I remember test driving one and being scared initially because it was more than twice as powerful as the car I had currently been driving, but I was so surprised at how easy it was to drive. Then I put my foot down...the rest is history and the car is on my driveway now
My only gripe with it (currently) is that the standard auto is pretty slow to kick down
xHP flash to the auto will speed shifts up. I'm running it at the moment.
The turbos and injectors are expensive af only main downside as long as you’re a bit mechanically inclined and can do regular maintenance it’s a great car
What i have noticed so far is that the „super unreliable“ 335is have at least 200hp more than stock, so it‘s their own fault 😅
But a g-power blown m3 would still be quite amazing 😄
I’ve been driving my ‘10 335xi m sport(n54) for about a month or two now, only problem is it’s developed wastegate rattle; that’s their ultimate downfall in my opinion as well as the fuelling issues. Aside from those two though I’m WOT everywhere I go and it’s giving me no issues 🤞🏽
I’ve owned one for almost two weeks now and I love it. The hardtop is quick to go up and down, and the car is scary fast.
After owning over 45 vehicles I finally purchased my 1st BMW, 1st German car! I bought a 06 330i from a detailer so she looks really clean but maint wise not so much! Thes videos have been great it came with 5 cel codes i've learned my DISA valve was broke. Vanos seloniods were shot and secondary air pump has been deleted. I'm now down to 2 codes misfire cyl 1. I swapped coils and replaced plugs no luck! Hoping it's an injector. Other code is p1415 for air pump. Bought the OBD2 cable and going to tune it out. Basically thanks for all the videos I'd be completely lost without you and some other guys here! Previous owned had starter, alt, bat and valve cover gasket replaced recently so now I just need to remove the 20 pounds of oil sludge from underneath the car! LOL
Dad has found me a 2007 335i and so glad I found your videos cause now I look forward to it
Yes so much truth in this video! Got my 07 e92 (200,000km) fbo stage 2+ going single snail with doc racing at the end of the month. Great platform to have fun with and very little issues.
Yo mate, how is the car doing? I also want to buy a high mileage 335i with 200k km, but im way too scared for the costs 😫. Did you experience any issues?
Alpina developed the N54 engine, that engine won several German championships. I have it in my 740 Li. The components in the engine were ment to support 6-7 hundred HP's. Plus Alpina founder stated that he wanted an engine that would produce more torque to conserve more fuel.
Really good video man , straight to the points , subscribing
Thanks, Bro. Was having serious buyer's remorse after buying my 335i and hearing about all the negative reviews, but it's nice to hear you enjoy it as much as I do! Hopefully it treats me ok!
How's it been treating you?
You my friend are a true BMW enthusiast-hands down. I am on the hunt for a 335i for under 10k and going to keep up with your videos to tune it up once the hunt is over. Thanks for sharing your passion and knowledge with the rest of us BMW aficionados.
hey man have you found one yet? im on the lookout for a replacement for my audi a3 after it got totaled, and tryna find something for 13-14k and under with decent mileage. so far my best option are the Golf/jetta Gti/Gli's. but a 335i would be IDEAL! let me know thanks 👍
Very nice car my man! I have a 2007 335i I have owned for five years as well. Although I have yet to do any upgrades, I am thinking of some of the bolt-on options you suggested oh and thank you for the suggestion on how to eliminate the tailpipe rattle. Have the same issue
I couldn't have said all of that any better, amazing video man ! 🔥🔥🔥
(In love with your car 😁)
👊🏼
I've owned 11 BMW's (currently have an X5) but my fav was my 335 coupe....400hp, 500nm in a 3 series- Loved that car.
Hey man I wanna thank you for making this because I had been looking for a video to explain what's possible with the car, instead of giving an opinion about what you think is right like everyone else.
For anyone considering buying one... This past June I bought a 2011 335xi, e90 n55 because I was tired of driving around a shitty mazda 6. I don't make a lot of money and I'm 24. I was pretty intimidated regarding the cost of repairs and the rumors about cost. I couldn't be happier now. I got a great deal at 90k miles for $8000. The guy had receipts for the water pump and thermostat replaced at 70k, I called the business to confirm the work done and they were able to tell me quite a bit about the service record since he brought it there for all the work. In my own opinion, if you are anywhere near handy and willing to learn about how the car is put together to do maintenance, you'll enjoy the car MUCH MORE than you think you will. The first time I took it to back roads and floored it around a bend, I said out loud "are you fucking kidding me?!"
Awesome story! And you're welcome 👊🏼
Second owner of a bone stock 2007 335i. I love it! It’s smooth and has just enough power for me.
2009 328i works fine for me 🤷🏾♂️
Stock still fast asf
thx man, this is what i'm looking for, there's sooo many people hating on the car, even though they have not driven a 335i
I have an opp to get an '07 convertible with 68k mi for $9k. Never owned a BMW and all the "common issues" vids steered me to thinking no way. This vid brings much light. Thank you for helping educate those not in the BMW community...yet. Much respect.
Wish I could master my 550i the way you mastered your car.💯
Much respect.
Just do itttt. But 550i is really nice stock, tbh
It’s all good bruh thanks for the reply.... respect ✊
About to start looking for one to replace my VW Golf daily, found this channel. Subbed.
I’m sold!!!! Getting one just like yours!Dark gray exterior/interior. Thank you for your videos!
I own a 335i e92 for 4 years. It's an amazing car! All you told us is true! And the car is not so expensive.
Early high torque, fast throttle response and high hp. Basically recommend for all kinds of cars. M3 with Compressor is also good
Great review!!!
Professional review, thank you!
I love The heavy steering feel on my 135I. It is stiff but not 944 stiff
I have an 2011 N55 335i convertible with 188k miles. It’s been one of the most reliable cars I ever had. Love it!
Great video, just what I was looking for.
Agreed. Got a 2009 Black Sapphire 335i E93. Full load M Sport. Sweet car! Thanks for this video.
I've got an e46 m3 and a 335i msport
Both mt and there both amazing fast cars
Haha! I didn't know I had adjustable bolsters either until recently! Great for the track!
Spot on! Excellent video.
Great video! I watched this 'after' I watched the "shouldn't" version. I love how you are so detailed and talk about these cars as "whatever you want to make them" instead of WYSIWYG. Sure, BMW owners are often assholes, but not every single one. You're the good one. Keep up the good videos, man. I love this channel! (And....I absolutely love the sound of a straight six.... For sure, man!)
Finally the headlights being changed
I own a 2011 335is and I agree with these statements
Purchased a used 2009 e92 335i (N54 engine) stock with just m-suspensions and performance exhaust. Fell in love right then and bought it at the spot from am official BMW dealer. I have an awesome indie garage the specialists in m-tuning and tuned my 335i to the well known “full bold on” status. An insane 400hp and when using the JB4 you get an iOS app that comes along with it that you can use to see your engine live, switch maps and do other cool stuf like read engine failure codes,...
The only thing I downgraded after the tune was the exhaust system as with catless down pipes and the performance exhaust... it’s just too much after a while. It was fun fir the first weeks but a cold start early in the morning gets your neighbors asking about it. Switches to a stock exhaust and still awesome sound :-)
Love the car... some small issues but nothing unusual or catastrophic failures. You realize it’s a machine and a machine can have some issues. The 335i is perfect if you want tuning fun and still get to business customers in a classy stock looking car but has 400hp.
subscribed. i drive an e92 too, its a 325d with stage2. i’ve watched few of your vids and u have got me thinking that i should’ve gone for the 335 :-)
I own a 2011 335 with about 88k miles. Over the past few thousand miles I have replaced the following: high pressure fuel pump, water pump (electric), valve cover and gasket, oxygen sensor, and of course brakes (a normal expense unlike the others). The non-normal expenses have been thousands of dollars. I am very happy with the car but surprised at how many things go wrong with it. Would not modify for more power as the car has a difficult time dealing with the power it has!
Clean title or not ? Tuned or not?
James Rogers replaced all the same shit, multiple times. I get limp mode in summer.😂 clean title. Its a pile of garbage. Too worthless to sell; expensive as hell to maintain
For real I bought mine for $5700 I’m gapping expensive ass cars it’s so crazy and it runs super good, of course I keep up maintenance but it’s totally worth it!
@@dannyvalencia2123 Yeah, sure you are. Meanwhile a pathetic Challenger SRT-8 Scatpack, obliterated my 335i. Maybe you're gapping Corollas, but you ain't gapping anything with balls

I had a BMW 335i 2012 for 3 years, the best car i ever had, but the the only problem was when the motorplan expired the parts got really expensive. So mainly the only problem is price on maintenance, even when it only breaks a minuscule amount of times.

I’m glad for this video. I’m saving for a 335i rn and I was iffy.
Watching your channel has helped me decide on getting a 335i as my next car. Considered a new 5.0 stang, everyone has one, also considered a Focus RS. But my local car scene being everyone has a mustang, camaro, civic, focus, brz, or subie. Well I want to be different and ride in style. So settled on a 335i. What are some things I should look for? Plan on going with the streetfighter LA kit. I’m not new to BMW, had a e36 325.
I got an 08 335xi coupe and I’ve got to say it’s a super smooth riding machine! Other than the lag it has when I hit the gas sometimes it’s a great car! 104k miles running strong
My e46 316i 2002 has every feature you mentioned as well lmao
Thank you for this video! I was definitely questioning getting this car, I think you might have persuaded me! You should definitely make a buying guide/what to check for video!

Yes Sr. Your more than right hydraulic power steering is by far the best driving experience yet. It's just amazing. There is nothing equivalent to the BMW drive is mind blowing..!
I'm personally a fan of the 335i or 335xi coupe with manual transmission, I would buy it stock of course
Yes definitely the manual transmission completely changes the personality are the car and it leaves you with full control. I own a automatic 335i and a manual 135i and boy is it a blast it shifts so smooth and the power you get when the turbos are filling spooled up nothing like it 👍🏼👍🏼

Welcome to the channel! 👊🏼
4:30 anyone with a nice car can relate, it was even with my beloved 2002 E46 that I really appreciated to get back in after having our company car or anything else that my family drives. Now that I have an E89 I'm always looking forward to get back in again.
I Love my 08 335i as well. This car is the only car I have owned that I just love to drive everyday.
John Jamieson III are they reliable when they start to get close to 100k miles
You're not an average every-day bmw 335I owner. You put a lot of time into it (and money). Love your videos but 98% who wanna buy can't/won't/shouldn't invest like you have. Love your 2% passion though.
Great vid bro. Glad I got my 335is
good insight!!
Right on brother! I was saying same thing about comparing this to a 2JZ. Supra got too expensive and there are a few cars you can take power out of. This is one. I am planning to get one for my channel in the future.
I've had my 335i 2007 msport FBO for more than 5 years and I love the performance, drive experience and sounds. The only dislike is the reliability issues... yes it does have constant oil leaks like a fountain and just the other day my thermostat shut closed which gave me a nice surprise of coolant leaks everywhere. The increase HP and torque by a tune and FBO expose all the weak points in the car so maintenance schedules are increased as well as a requirement for both high flow and low flow OIL catch cans! A must! Personally DCI is not necessary as the factory air box is more than sufficient for stock snails.
Damn my Japanese VQ35DE from Nissan which has alot of miles on it, doesn't leak one single drop of oil. Also second owner and first owner had no engine problem ever. Same for me nothing with the whole drive train and whole engine. NOTHING. Literally really 0.0% problems. I think alot of BMW drives do not understand how reliable a car can be. And they are afraid to buy a Japanese real quality car. The only thing that breaks down on such car are "brakes" because you brake. And "tires" because you drive/drift.
I know this video is 2yrs old BUT I want to thank you for putting out, because your right all I was seeing was negative talk about the 335i, I'm looking to get one here soon. I'm not gonna make it a fast car just gonna enjoy it stock I have a 600hp Foxbody for fun, thanks for this video.

I drive a 335d. I've always been curious about the 335i. Great video! I hope to drive one soon.
Has it been reliable?
@@truevhazo4001It definitely needs attention in the shop, but nothing major yet. About twice a year is what I normally see. Just hit 200k miles in May. I'm still amazed at the torque this thing has. Going to drive it till the wheels fall off!!
Love your vids, I’m on my 4th BMW , I have a 2012 BMW 335i MSport Coupe (N55)
Love them and people that never owned them always trying to tell me how high priced it is
I have driven BMWs and both did have hard steering like you said and I loved it. The speed made smooth transitions. My Camry drives very smoothly too and I prefer my car haha.
Just got my 335i twin turbo, gonna upgrade everything you reccomended!
