Yep. I'm trying to consciously create my own EDC at the moment, mostly on a budget, and it has to be pocket carry. Jon's one this time is pretty good. I don't really need a knife (I have more use for scissors), so it would be interesting to see you compete on other combinations it carry. Mine would be 1 house key, 1 car keyfob, cards, cash (inc coins), screwdriver, torch, scissors, notebook, pen and mechanical pencil.
This was a brilliant video. Even my wife sat down and watched it with me. The interplay between you two remind me of me and my friends. Nothing says I love you buddy like a great insult. As far as the gear I call it 50/50. Jon’s wallet and flashlight, Jamie’s key ring and knife.
I love Jon's precision. In his typical videos he is precise with his speech and his selection of items. In this video, he is precise with his banter. Great video!
Nobody would see that and think "damn that's an interesting wallet" even though Jon thinks the bifold is so boring. You would see that bellroy and think "damn, that man has got a purse"
Lol definitely a fun video. Most EDC videos around YT are very serious. I have to go with Jon on this one! Zippered wallets are amazing!!! I was once feeling a zipper is childish, but it is just so practical! As demonstrated in the video. You can put cards, cash, coins, pen, memory drives, small tools, ... That said, 45$ is very steep for a zippered wallet 😅That's what I don't like about Bellroy.

Great video; I had to vote for John because of the knie choice but Jamies choice of wallet I believed was the better of the two. The flashlights choices were both great.
Jaimie needs to be in more of these. The zipper purse crack had me in stitches. Both of you should remember that the reason to buy Victorinox is the scissors (x models). Alox is the second reason. Well played both of you.
Came here from the current challenge. Have to say, I prefer Jon’s wallet over Jamie’s. Jamie saying the word “purse” like it’s a bad word. Tsk! Overall, I prefer Jon’s choices. I like the wallet, the torch, and the knife (which I would not put on a keychain). I like both of the keychains though. I use a carabiner as my keychain. I have a lot of keys (thank you, work!), so the carabiner is the easiest way to carry them. I have an Olight Imini 2 attached to my purse (no room on the keychain-makes it too bulky in the pocket), and own a RovyVon A28U as well.
Wallet: Jamie. Flashlight: Jon. Knife: Jamie. Keyring: Jamie. I don't mind the size of the Torro wallet, the Rovyvon has more modes/functions and the same argument goes for the Cadet, the carabiner I can clip it to my pants' belt loop. Personally I wouldn't carry everything in one pack like the security wallet, because if I lose it I lose everything. Great video!, this vs videos are always so much fun to watch.
I love the Victorinox Bantam & Cadet. I reviewed these a few months ago - I rotate both, but if I had to choose, it would be the Cadet... Good choices guys and I'm liking the 'Top Gear' format 😁 Atb Gus 👍
Happy Friday Gus, Amazon serially over-charge on UK legal Rough Riders & Victorinox knives ( ditto for Civivi & other knives that you cant buy in the UK )
I'd go with the Bantam, but only if paired with a Classic. The cheapest Classic on Amazon is $19.79, so I'd have to shave that much off the other items. Amazon has keychain flashlights for less than a dollar, so that seems do-able.
If you have to unzip a wallet, its a purse. £80 for a flap of leather? And £45 for purse? You're insane. You won with the torch AND it was cheaper, bloody brilliant.
It's hardly just a "flap of leather" though. The Wingback is a handmade wallet made with high quality, hand selected leather. Worth it? That's merely a personal choice. For me it is (I don't own the Wingback though, but similar wallets with similar quality).
@@koudacyen sure, if you're a leather maker go ahead. If you are you should already have the tools though. @@swe_nurse8121 Look up leather wallet making on UA-cam, it isn't that hard, simple and homemade things are better because you can said "I made that" Even if you have to make a few before it looks professional.
So in actuality, you both went overboard. Night Ize makes some of the best and most functional pieces of gear. Now as far as the one Jon has with the magnetic function for a key ring isn't something you would want to trust on a long hike, or camping trip, much less in an emergency. You're taking more of a risk of losing everything. For example, while you're hiking and a limb catches it just right it is coming off. Jamie's idea is more practical for said situations. Now, however, to stay on a budget you can buy another key ring with all the functions as a key ring, flat and Phillips screwdrivers, bottle opener, and carabiner with at least a 300lb weight limit in a pack of two from Night Ize. It's very lightweight, plus it's got more functions in one piece than you guys put together and you can buy them either Amazon, Lowe's, or Home Depot both I'm familiar with here in the states. Priced around 10-15 lbs there or 10-15.00 here. Now with a light. I agree that rechargeable is and will always be more practical. But in your bag, you need to be functional anytime and anywhere light that'll take both a battery and recharging. Streamlight has that exact light. It is about 500 LMS, a few ounces, less than 3 inches with a key ring or paracord attached. 20-30 bucks. Knife. Kershaw makes a compact lightweight knife that's not only fully functional but light, and small. It's maybe 20-30.00. Cheaper on other sites I'm sure. Now we have all the tools, keys, lights, and knives under control we're missing a fully functional and practical solution to carrying it all plus what we normally carry. They sell a small compact carrying pouch. It can't only fit in your front or back pocket but also in any small hiking pack or the wife's purse. It does have a zipper "sorry Jamie" that's also waterproof. It has multiple compartments to keep everything secure and separated. I recommend the greenish color. It'll cost next to nothing for that. Plus with the money, you're saving you can add medical supplies like a bandage or button and thread etc. So you'll have less weight, and less tools and or gadgets. Oh, don't forget less than you both spent plus a higher quality. But I'm just an American that was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains lol. Let me know what you guys think!
Split decision: Jamie for Wallet & Knife and Jon for Light (but barely) & Keychain. Jamie gets the tie. Jon if you had gone with the small topo pocket organizer you could have had the SAK Compact and swept the challenge.
I carry the Bantam Alox. But I like it because it slips in my pocket and is very easy to get to. Keeping it in a purse just seems a bit awkward. I don't like Victorinox key rings either. They are in exactly the right place to dig into your hand when using the knife. I have an Al Olight, but I like that Rovyvon. I have an old man's bifold wallet that my daughter had made for me by a leather worker. And she got my initials stamped inside, so I won't be switching to the purse. I've got a mini carabiner key ring so I can switch house key and gate remote between vehicles. However, I do like the magnetic key rings, they are way cool.
So fun. Jon's tool and key ring. Jamie's wallet and flashlight. Jamie would have had my vote if he went with the Nite Eyes s ring, instead of that massive thing.
John's setup is much better thought through, experience shows. The pouch idea is great, but the zipper is an obvious point of failure, and it's just too expensive for what it is 🤷♂️ I'd go with: ¤ Victorinox Swisscard pouch as a wallet, real leather at £13, has clear window for ID and space for 2-3 cards easy. ¤ Nitecore Tiki for a flashlight, which is cheaper and has better functionality, including the "blind the attacker by instinctively holding the on button depressed" function, but also "mini camping light" function using auxiliary LED - up to £20 ¤ Victorinox Swisscard for a FIXED BLADE knife 🤣, there are few different tool options to choose to your liking too - up to £26 ¤ For keyring I use a loop of 2mm dyneema rope on magnet comparable with what John recomends, an idea I have picked up from one of Johns past product reviews btw. Great content nevertheless
Being an everyday carry challenge, my vote goes to Jon, because of the ability to carry all the items together in one bag/wallet/purse whatever you want to call it 😊

Have to go with Jamie's wallet (because I'm not about to carry a purse) and knife (because the Alox Cadet is excellent and I love the nail file) Jon's flashlight (solely because it's rechargable albeit more complicated) and Jamie's keyring (although I just use a simple $2 steel ring myself because it cannot fail). Sorry Jon but Jamie definitely won here. Granted you might get that "security wallet" a little cheaper if you asked your grandmother to part with hers and Jamie did needlessly overspend on the keyring, but aside from the torch where I'd give Jon a slight lead Jamie was overall the better budget selection. The Bantam being smaller doesn't appeal to me when you're well within pocket knife territory regardless and I wonder if its thin cross section is actually less ergonomic when cutting things.

Love the bants
Sorry Jon but Jamie definitely won here. Granted you might get that "security wallet" a little cheaper if you asked your grandmother to part with hers and Jamie did needlessly overspend on the keyring, but aside from the torch where I'd give Jon a slight lead Jamie was overall the better budget selection. The Bantam being smaller doesn't appeal to me when you're well within pocket knife territory regardless and I wonder if its thin cross section is actually less ergonomic when cutting things.
😮😆
loved the hilarious banter and being able to add constructive thoughts about edc make this vid a gem..more please :)
It was very close, but I had to go with Jamie because of the wallet versus the coin purse.
or Micro EDC zip pouch 😁
Touché
Loved the format! Do more.
Wallet: Jamie
Torch: Jon
Knife: Jamie
Key Ring: Jon
A tie, but my tie breaking vote goes to Jamie for suffering 650 lumens in his face and keeping a smile. 😊
We have one in the works….. 👍
I vote Jamie. You guys are hilarious, had me belly-laughing more than once. I am always looking for budget gear or just repurposing what I already have, so I’m very price-averse.
I agree we need more of these type of videos 🦉
"It'nt that a little make up bag"? 🤣😂
Jamie needs glasses 🤣
I think it is a tie, and the bottom line is that we get a lot of useful tips on good budget things.
Another good video, loving the commradery here!!
Great to hear Draco 👍
Thank you for the card pocket + bantam suggestion!! works great
Torn on the torch, but leaning toward the Olight personally. For a brighter light I want something that fits in the palm.
Jamie for the win. Team Jamie
I think Jaimie wins, but Jon's flashlight is just objectively better.
I died laughing every time jamie called jons wallet a purse lol
now everyone's calling it a purse!
Love the video. Please do more like this. I will agree with Jon that wallet is dull and boring. LOL
Thanks Earl 👍
